he gave you the stimulous package krytes.

most aussies i know got 900 and spent most of it on beer and gambling .. the rest they just wasted.

and bytheway i really did try to emigrate 25yrs ago.

we didnt have enough points with the wife not having a trade.

Actually, the stimulus only went to those who lodged a tax return last year. Many of us who couldn't get it done in time, or were several years behind and weren't allowed to lodge one without the rest, missed out on the $900.

But yeah, you are right, most people I know who got it spent it at the pub, or bought their 6th TV or something ridiculous.

Not that anyone was complaining.....

I can't claim to know much at all about our immigration process but I think you will find that things have changed a little since 25 years ago. Certain professions are in dire need here, particularly doctors and nurses, and they have somewhat relaxed many of the immigration rules that existed 25 years ago.

I Still Call Australia Home

- Lyrics by Peter Allen

I've been to cities that never close down
From New York to Rio and old London town
But no matter how far
Or how wide I roam
I still call Australia home.

I'm always travelin'
And I love bein' free
So I keep leavin' the sun and the sea
But my heart lies waiting over the foam
I still call Australia home.

All the sons and daughters spinning 'round the world
Away from their families and friends
Ah, but as the world gets older and colder
It's good to know where your journey ends.

And someday we'll all be together once more
When all the ships come back to the shore
Then I realize something I've always known
I still call Australia home.

No matter how far
Or how wide I roam
I still call Australia home.

Yeah, and in the meantime taking down your country and yourselves.

Think how these posts look to other countries.

I don't think you know Aussies at all then, you see we take the piss outta ourselves as much as we do anyone else.

You're taking it too serious.

The day we stop laughing at ourselves and being larrakins, the day I'll officially hang up my akubra.

And I don't plan on letting that happen any time soon!

Speaking of taking the mick out of ourselves, the Kiwis are pretty good at it too - This is an old advert made by them, but I rekon it shows the way we joke with each other..

So you are telling me I should move to Australia? Is this where I will find a decent guy, house, job?!
I would have to agree with you. Anyone I have ever met from Australia was always exactly how you say. I think I talk to more people on ATS from Australia than anywhere else and they are all AWESOME! I have a lot of people who come into my work from Australia and they are always the most fun and easy to get along with. I have always wanted to move out of the US and will decide in the next year where to go. Australia is looking pretty good to me
Where do you suggest an American move to in Australia? I like cities but not really big ones.. just put me near Hugh's house and I'll be fine

What the hell is the above supposed to mean? As an American who spent some time working in Aus I found Australians pretty good people.

Yes they don't like bull# and they are opposed to political correctness - BUT it is pushed by the media, feminists, academics and other elites in a very big way.

But why is the op's post in the General Conspiracies forum? What conspiracy?

LOL the best part about Aussies, is we didnt give a hoot abot your insults and chose to ignore you......

sigh.... although i do regularly miss the beautiful and special land of my birth...

the 'true blue aussie' rubbish in this thread reminds me of why i am so much happier not being there now.

apologies rant ahead....

that attitude of 'i'll do or say what i like and not care what anyone else thinks'... of course that's freedom and i'm all for that but... without trying to judge anyone here..

that attitude is what allowed this country to become what it is now. (by 'country' i mean society and not the physical / natural environment.)

'no worries mate' etc.. while the river disappears and the cctv cameras go up, while the laguages fade into tourism brochures and the high rise holiday resorts build border defences, while the extinction rate rises and the red dust covers old sydney town, while the VB bottles build up on the sides of the freeway and the ..... blahh

i love that place, even adelaide
i just get so sad when people get so laid back they let themselves and others get walked all over.

there you go. no solutions no disrespect intended,
nukunyas!

And mememememememememememememememeeeeeeeeeeee.....

To those that say we get too relaxed and don't participate in making Australia a better place, what the hell do you think we are doing on this forum? Don't you think that perhaps we are of such independent thought that we were able to make our ways to this place? What makes you think I am not a member of a local political party and also a member of the State Emergency Service huh?

Just because, in this thread, we have displayed a portion of what makes us Aussie - the laid back "No worries mate" attitude DOES NOT MEAN that we ignore the problems in our country and don't participate in fixing them.
