True. What this represents is a group of people who want the "connection". They are seeking the inner peace, at least I hope, and not trying to replicate a "Dances With Wolves" scene. What really gets me, is one woman who died was from Minnesota! My family has spent much time at Leech Lake, and Red Lake MN, and attended many sweats. If she truly wanted to spend 9 or 10 thousand dollars. . .there are MANY elders and families there who need to live, and are great teachers.

There's no doubt Leech Lake would have been a far better place to be for sweats. It and Red Lake are marked in Red Sky's birchbark Creation Scroll. It would be an honour indeed to do a sweat there since both Leech and Red Lakes are very sacred places. I can't understand at all how someone from that place would have chosen to go to anywhere else.

Leech Lake is also the indicated destination on the Migration charts. It's an immensely important place and hope to go there someday.
