Why do the Taliban never run out of ammo?

Topic started on 18-10-2009 @ 03:49 AM by woodwardjnr

OK , maybe i'm being naive here, so someone can help. Currently the Taliban are putting up strong resistance in Pakistan, against 30,000 of the Pakistani Army. In Afghanistan they are currently putting up stiff resistance to NATO, including a large contingent of the finest American and British army's. It's not like they have a military industrial complex that rolls out these weapons. I mean this war has been going on for years now.

who is supplying the Taliban with the ammo to fight on 2 fronts so successfully?

I saw this thread yesterday and thought the same thing

Marines Engage Al-Qaeda & Taliban Militants

Possibly they are receiving funds from British Muslims.
But probably from selling poppies.

Who sells them the ammo and weapons.

The Taliban has some rich supporters who supply them with weapons payed for by the poppy rich drugs they sell.Powerful drug dealers and crimminals from pakistan ,Russia and financal supportes from inside the saudi arabian and Russian goverments.Theses rich supportes also invest money for the Taliban in bogus names within frount companies in different foreigen countries in the middle east , africa and europe. So finding out Russia is the largest supplyer of weapons to the Taliban comes as no surprise to me.

The black market supplies everyone with guns. The goal is to have a never ending conflict to divert attention and they are doing great so far.

the list might include, China, N Korea, Russia, Afghan itself, Pakistan...even the numberous 'Stans' the USA leases bases at Ubek/Kazak/etc etc... Chechnya, Georgia, Iran, Turkey...
perhaps even rogue operations in both the USA and Israel...
maybe even some faction within the Blackwater Contractors...

where-ever there is a profit or a principal to attain, there will be trafficking in arms/ammo/supplies

raids on storage sites, fake accounting are ways to accrue arms & such
the Taliban or AQ do not have to 'buy' the ammo they can simply acquire the bullets...

or something to that effect

There are plenty within our own western agencies, I am sure, along with some shady banking concerns that supply whatever is needed to keep the ball rolling.
War, after all, is good for business, as they found out after instigating two world wars and many other minor ones before and since. Sell to both sides and you are on to a real winner.

As with anything, it should be a simple case of "follow the money", although it could well be life threatening (understatement) to carry out any real investigation. As for the weapons, the country of origin / manufacture often doesn't mean an awful lot. What matters is where the money came from to buy the arms. Ever wonder how a bunch of impoverished farming folk all of a sudden rise up, brandishing automatic weapons? Where the hell did they come from and who paid and, more to the point, who benefits the most from the ensuing conflict?

It probably includes the USA as one of the greatest contributors since they profit greatly from keeping this conflict going. Always ask who profits.

hmm good question, they must also have to replace weapons, sights, barrels etc, with wear and tear.

Id say either the chinese, to a lesser extent the russians. but more than likely elements of the pakisani government be they military or political, lets face it they are currently having a civil war right now, they may be taliban, but they are pakistani also.
Maybe the iranians also? the weaponry is also from soviet design so i doubt any western alligned nations are involved.

Hellmutt has a great thread on here that will explain alot of this stuff, it wasn't too terribly long ago the US "lost" 200,000 Kalishnikov machine guns somewhere in Iraq right about the same time we had an ammo shortage of 7.62mm here, just cooincidence of course.
There's also alot of money laundering going on in the middle east wars right now, here's a great example.

Hellmutt's thread is here...

The Russians...Afterall, whom do you think has been behind every skirmish we've had since the big blowout with them? They've just become more so covert in their efforts to infiltrate, disrupt and discourage the World's purview of America as a supreme power by utilizing cells of Communist factions in places such as North Korea, China and the Mid-East as pawns in their ever continuing bid to gain World dominance, otherwise, how could they all have managed to be armed with Russian weaponry and technology?

Just saying....

Both sides of the war are backed by the same group: International Bankers and Oil Corporations.

good link, Vice has some pretty awesome documentaries on there...
The nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics has calculated that more than 151 members of Congress have up to $195 million invested in major defense contractors that are earning profits from the US military occupations in Iraq and Afghanistan

this may have something to do with the reluctance to end either war

viceland.stores.yahoo.net...
I have tried in the past here on ATS to bring up the Vice Travel Guide to Pakistan, and why Afghanistan is lost before it is ever fought.

The Arms Markets near Khyber Pass that they visit in The Vice Guide is insane. There are children in caves making ammunition all day, while the adults are making knock off AK47s. No way anyone, US or Russians or Chinese can defeat that, unless they themselves have that kind of child labor making ammunition and such.

Everyone on ATS should watch the Vice Guide to Pakistan. It should be required to watch before you are allowed to post here. It would weed out a lot of perceptions...

Star for you Mr 6six6...
