Disappointed with ATS.

While I've been here almost, stress that, a year and half, almost 2 years, including 'stalking' lol.

I've become more aware, with other members, racism, and perhaps, even my own.

Now I'll be the first to say, we're all a lil bit racist.

But Unless there is a Race planning a conspiracy against another race, do I think it really need be on ATS. I mean really with all the things out there, why is racism topics so prevalent now?

Now there are many 'differences' in the races, but the same can be said about a book, sometimes a book uses different words, sometimes it doesn't but they all use the same letters. (unless a different language, but really do you need to analyze that?!).

Now, I hold a quote very dear to me about racism

"Racism, Cannot be reasoned out of a man, because reason did not put it there."

As for the treatment of people's in a past, say my grandfather owned a slave and beat him, well that same person, beat me as a child. Should I hold a full stereotype of a violent and barbaric view of white people? A white man beat me too, just as he did a black man... It wasn't really a color issue, just a power issue.

Just as in rape, most think people rape because a woman/man wears short skirts.shorts, but moreso it's a power issue.

I just hold ATS to a higher intelligence, then that of Racism, or Stereotypes, or Prejudices.

For the blacks saying that you're all superior in body type, well haha, you have a shorter life span, you'll die fairly fast in comparison, and also vulnerable to diabetes and many other diseases.

For women, men will always be stronger (except if you take testerone and steroid pills, but dont' eek!). So there, no lifting cars for you! Oh and breast cancer, and terrible child birth!

For asians, your stereotype will be that your all freakin genius'! And that actually harms emotionally, since some feel they must live up to it, and others will try and stay away from it, to avoid a stereotype of the geek style.

For caucasian (whites for those who don't know), I'll elaborate on this, since I had a white friend, who, absolutely, hated being white, he's stuffed up on pills now for a altered view of life, but he explained to me this. The white race is like a game of Halo, of course you have the default (white) character, but everyone wants to change the color, to something else, but damnit, we're the default character in the game.

For men, women, will always be more empathetic, and compassionate, it's in their grey matter!
And they will always be able to surpass you in the job interview via a little leg, yeah don't try it, I did, interviewers don't like hairy legs apparently! Oh and for all men, black, asian or white, women will still outlive you!


There I think I covered about all the races there. We've all got a good side, and bad side.

But even after looking at that. All I see, is stereotypes, and more importantly BS.

My utopia, is when all that trivial BS, is gone, and our only consideration in the matter, of race, is no consideration.

Right now, tomorrow, isn't guaranteed, and I'll be damned if I'm one of the many in the world saying blacks are better, no women are better, no whites are better, no chinese are better, no eskimos are better, no gophers are better! lol.

Really, our priorities are all screwed up, if we could crack our necks, and finally turn them to something else we'd all be alright.

If an asteroid was discovered, (by the team that amounts to a full mcdonalds staff) tomorrow, would you really give a *SNIP* about racism?

Then why do we give it a *SNIP* now, because thats all racism is, *SNIP*.

If ATS can just forgo the racism aspect here, we can actually focus on the issues.

A small percentage of americans who are racist, shouldn't make a large part of ATS parts, who really cares about them?!

As long as I see ATS, we are concerned about, Taxes, Government Authority, H1N1, Earthquakes, Volcanoes on an Extreme Side, ET Contact, Foreign Attacks, Attacks Against Foreign Countries, and 9/11.

Now, for me I see no reason why ATS should be divided, as it is little bit, by little bit now.

I as a white (prep) guy, if I must label myself, feel myself no more of a target of the above, then a asian. black, mexican, or brit.

And I expect the rest of you to act like it, oh, and Aussie, yeah well, maybe, you guys should feel a little attacked

I expect a flaming, and a Smod, or Mod, to come along and flame me as well, I'm just saying, as I summarize this, that we just let go of this us, them, them, us, black white, white black, black asian, asian white, white asian black jap aussie mex. Mindset go away.

Because all in all, the biggest fear of mine is an asteroid..... and well a giant rock, really doesn't give a *SNIP* if your black white blue grey red yellow striped or hell alive!

It's funny, you know.

I decided to focus my honours thesis on the subject of racism. Although i am an 'ethnic minority', I chose to focus on the fact that racism applies, or *should* apply to everyone; as in, an English person should expect the same sort of 'racism' that a Vietnamese person experiences; you/your ancestors weren't from here so go back to 'your own country'. In turn, this, combined with my artworks, intended to entice the viewer to question their own origins and 'validity' at claiming 'ownership' over a country or place and make them realise that no-one truly belongs or owns a place.

Patriotism and racism are entirely separate, but can be seen to be related, and i think this is where people go wrong. The Indian-born fellow who has become a proud Australian citizen can be seen as patriotic. He is happy to be Australian and feels he fits in. The people he has met have been friendly and supportive, even thrilled to have a friend 'from another country'. He isn't doing anything wrong; he owns a thriving business, pays his taxes, he works himself to the bone to send his kids to a private school. Now, in the eyes of some, he is seen to be 'stealing' 'Australian' jobs and should go 'back to his own country'. Oh wait, did I forget to tell you he is actually of 'Anglo' descent?

The point is, that as soon as people percieve 'colour' or 'difference' to be a driving factor, it becomes 'us' vs. 'them'. If Obama was 'fully' white, how would you view his policies? If 'colour' is removed, how valid are your arguments? If percieved 'ethnicity' is removed, is it even relevant?

ATS recently has been rather like looking out through a window onto a vast battlefield littered with Americans fighting each other ... with the occasional "bewildered foreigner" strolling amongst the mêlée.

What to do ? Take sides and join in ? Try to rise above it and walk on past the casualties ? Or, as so many quality contributors have done ... simply choose a different window to gaze through ?

While you're at it, please make all racist republicans ride at the back of the bus, and make sure they cannot use public restrooms, remove their right to vote, if they cannot be civil, take their civil rights, and really they are less than human so it makes sense.

as a new member, i was really concerned about this. i trolled here for about 2 months before joining, and kept seeing people talk about the race issue, basically everything the OP went over, and it bothered me and was the reason it took me so long to join. I'm glad to see other members noticing this and speaking out.

I've felt the race issue should be long past us. Even growing up in a family that there were clear issues with other races, I saw it all as bogus. After all, my friends and I, people of different colors and backgrounds, never once stopped to go...wait you're black..i'm not, which one of us is better.

We adults should sometimes just reverb back to a child's thinking: not noticing the little things that don't matter.

The majority of ppl submitting stories on ATS submit them about the US.

Some of this "limelight" is not positive in nature.

I am sure negative things are going on elsewhere in the world,
but for now ATS was started in the US, and thus it has a lot of
US ppl on this board.

I am sure nothing is stopping a german, french, or asian ATS from
starting up, in fact I bet some are out there to some degree.

Actually, I posted on this topic elsewhere today. There might be a reason why a lot of European posters don't start threads. More and more American posters are posting British news sources to start threads with, for various reasons. Now when these news sources become available on-line and are genuinely hot off the metaphorical press, it's actually very early in the morning in Britain, when most Britons are still asleep, whilst it's still early evening in America.

I've personally stopped bothering to start thread because of this very reason. I think the time zones and the fact that Americans make for the bulk of the regular posters make quite a big difference.

The jist of it, I think, is that German government ministers, their civil service & military are to be offered a different swine flu vaccine from the rest of the population, one which doesn't have some kind of "active agent" in it. I'm waiting for a proper translation to appear on the Deutsche Welle website and then I'll chip in.

It has the potential to be a great thread ... but it's let down by poor translation

Race topics shouldn't be brought up here unless it is involving some race vs race conspiracy or something in Ancient Civilization forum.
