Awe Christ! We just got a 10-event multiple, all in a row! Peaking at over 300. Wowza. Yuppers, this is swarm status now, for sure.
Edit: make that a 14-event multiple, all in a row, the rest just came in. I believe this is really a new swarm folks. Let's see how long she lasts.
Seriously, stock up on the coffee, because we may be in for some long nights here.

Is this the literal post you placed into the other Yellowstone thread with all the links? I think it is.

Pretty much, except for the Halloween thing. Copy and Paste FTW.
Hey... can't have a good doom thread without a little data.

That has turned into a 26-event multiple swarm at H17A. Whoa. Yep, I'm not getting any sleep tonight. Another one like that, and I'll be calling for
the flags!

True.
It has happened to me before many times.
Part of the learning I did in that thread.
Some just do not want to hear certain truths and will get hostile even!
Even if that truth sits squarely in front of them, they will instantly turn blind and deaf.
I think it is the same reason most people dont like talking about any
of this stuff.
Simple Fear.
Fear and greed rules this world.
You know, land of the greed, home of the 'fraid.
Sorry for the downer.
Love your signature btw!
Spock once said we we're a primitive and paranoid society.
I always thought that described us pretty well.
Would take someone not from around here to even see this!

OH Man, with all the rest of the activity on this planet, this is not surprising.
Kinda worrisome

um, i think it's starting again. you sure those are working right?
why isn't e-quake or usgs reporting this? i see 4 quakes for the last hour on their map. maybe they know which ones are just faulty equipment and
aren't reporting them? this is odd.

If this is "starting" again, get ready for a bunch of "oddities".
Conspiracy on the part of the USGS. Impending doom. The whole nine.

[edit on 14-10-2009 by nikiano]
The Rumblings in the NW being heard are fighter jets not earthquake rumbles.
People do not hear low magnitude earthquakes anyway, they feel them. So the NW activity is obviously new fighter jets called Growlers with new engines
flying in formation and doing touch and go practice.

sorry but i would like to know why e-quake still hasn't posted any new quakes since the 4.9 in ecuador and usgs only has 4 in ys and none of those
showed up on equake either. maybe they are just verifying the data first.

USGS will automatically report them only when they are bigger than 2.5 magnitude (none of these last ones have been I think) , otherwise they rely on
reports by local agencies, which on Yellowstone case happens to be the UUSS. Unfortunately though, since January 2009 the USS has become very slow in
listing new earthquakes (and have toned down their automatic detection systems so that they won't appear on their maps quickly anymore).

I personally think it's because they want to avoid as much as possible alarmists getting excited at watching in real time tenths of earthquakes
popping up in their lists and posting "imminent catastrophe" videos on Youtube, like it happened last year during the December 2008 swarm.

1) The last swarm was in January, 10 months ago
2) If I have to sift through that 400+ pages again, I'm gonna go nuts!
3) Is it unreasonable that we have one thread per swarm?
I dunno, w/e. The mods can close this one if they want. But that was a while back, so I don't think this is unreasonable.
Also, nice screen shot. I was hoping to keep those in the GEE SS thread so we don't take up all that room here, but ok. Whatever floats yer boat.
