Hey everyone, good to be here. One of the biggest reasons I joined is to ask this question.
For the last few years when I pass under street lights either in my car or walking, they turn off. Not all of them all the time, but a lot of the
time they do. I am very puzzled by this. Is this a known phenomenon? I could not find anything about this anywhere.
Thanks in advance.

I've noticed that happen to me from time to time. I would love to think it's because I'm magically awesome, but I suspect it's more likely a
coincidence and I just tend to remember the times that it does happen and not the times it doesn't.
If you think it's more than a coincidence, maybe try doing some of the following...?
1. Count the number of lights that go off as well as the number that stay on in a set period of time, see what the actual percentage is.
2. When it does happen, look sharp and see if you can detect anything in the area or event that preceded or followed the light going off...if you
notice this happening more often than not when a light goes off around you, you might be on the way to uncovering the secret of why it happens.
I'm not trying to suggest that it's all in your head...just saying that it's possible. It's equally possible you have something legitimately
paranormal going on!

MOTION SENSORS/LIGHT DETECTORS. THEY DO THE SAME THING IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. Especially after mid night. Our car has very powerful 80/150 watt halogen
lights (illegal) and it throws off the street light sensors.
If I kick them to high beams, they light up the street like high noon. And the street lights go out.
I hope this helps.

When the bulb gets old it takes more current to run them. Because of this the circuit gets hot and the temperature safety shutoff kicks out until the
circuit cools down.
If you stick around you'll see the whole sequence repeat in a few minutes.

Thanks for the replies. Its strange. It doesn't happen all the time, maybe it has something to do with my emotions at the time? Or maybe its the
street lights themselves, and has nothing to do with me.
As far as I know I have never been abducted. I do believe in Aliens, and one time when I was just a kid, I saw what I thought was the "green ghost"
from the beginning of the Scooby-Doo cartoon in my window.
Other than that, nothing really weird going on. I don't have any other psychic abilities, other than my keen ability to read people, but I do not
believe that to be psychic ability.
Anyway, since I am new, I will throw out a list of some things I believe in just the heck of it.
Aliens
Ghosts
Shadow Government
JFK Conspiracy amongst many other conspiracies.
Some Psychic abilities
I am a Cristian and do believe in God as well.
That's pretty much me. Very happy I found this site.

I've read about people who've had an effect on electrical devices before but never a good explanation. And the real reason I'm writing this is
that I lived with a gal who was an example of this. For instance a watch battery might last a month or two with her regardless of the watch. I'm just
the opposite believe it or not, I've had watches run well over 10 years on the same battery and things just seem to last a long time for me without
any special care.
I don't have an explanation but you're certainly not alone.

I used to have that happen to me years ago. The biggest problem I had was with watches, the batteries would die within days. Seems to have diminished
with age or the Bulova watch I have worn for 10 years is immune. (1 battery replacement in 10 years)
Coincidence? Who knows.

Ahh you just made me think of something else. Pretty much every cell phone I have owned, the battery is crap. It drains way faster than it should.

Oh, yeah.. forgot about the cell phone batteries. Lucky to get a year out of a cell phone before it craps out. Gone through 3 company blackberry's in
4 years. The startec and nokia I had before that the batteries would only last 6-9 months or so before they couldn't hold a charge anymore.
It is strange I guess.

If you want to read about things like this, look into some Lyall Watson books. He just touches on things and some of it is dated but there's good
bibliographies and footnotes if you want to dig deeper. Very entertaining and thought provoking imo.
He's a Biologist amongst many other things and 'Supernature' would be a good place to start although it's the most dated. -He'd fit right in
around here
