Me too, I've read similar sentiment from other non-current members in the past few years.

It appears their modus operandi to stir up things with such things, and they know full well that people will take them to task on it.

If I were so inclined I'd state my entire life history detailing why the concept of the OP is faulty and that it ultimately is abhorrent. But I would not expect the selfish sods to get it, so I wont. I already know their arrogance outweighs common decency.

For someone to say they suffered 20 years alcoholism and now see the merit in just saying no, proves drinking a mere 6 beers a week is NOT alcoholism.

Anyone who's suffered alcoholism, knows the bloody grasp it has. Knows the damn hate it causes to ones self and others... to say otherwise is pure blissful ignorance.

I refuse to get into these arguments on addiction, because the idiots drive me to drink... lol

This thread is nothing more than an effort in a caste system embrace..

Those worthy are the masters, those worthless are subservient.

And if they don't cop it sweet in their lot - kill them off.

Sickening.

This is why America and the world is in this pathectic situation it's currently in.

Everyone thinks they have a BRILLIANT idea.

Just curious why everyone thinks they need to offer suggestions on how to invade on peoples lives and run the world when they can't manage their own little lives properly.

Great Idea!!!! I say lets do it! You see there are tooooo many people taking advantage of the system. I see people every single day that sit home, get money and can work but don't because they want things for nothing!!!!!!! They need to get off their A^% and do something. I am also sick of seeing these woman have children for welfare money, legal citizens and illegal ones. I am sick of working hard to pay money and have some of it good to these lazy people that think the world owes them and think it is funny when they use the system. I also see people all the time that say they are "hurt" and can't work, well of course in some cases this is true. I see all the time when it isn't true. They sit home, use this money for drugs half the time and again think they are owed something. That is what this country is coming to..... GET UP AND WORK PEOPLE! People don't become successful by sitting around doing nothing and bitching about the "poor me" clause. The crazy thing is, the big government thinks it is okay to allow this to happen.

Thank you for your time.

PS: There is no point in giving an actual response to this thread other than one of ignorance because the thread is just that.

Don't you have one of the highest prison populations in the world, plus high unemployment in the US, how will your idea help these situations?

If you do not mind me answering that one it would lower unemployment and increase inmate numbers.

It would end up costing far too much money to implement.

Very silly idea, quite annoying as well in my opinion as it requires more thought to run a bath than to come up with something such as this.

Since we are dealing with great ideas here though why dont we jail the people who are already working to give jobs to the unemployed? Makes as much sense

Let's make sure there is enough money to go around to pay these people for the 'mandatory' work.

Or are they supposed to work for 'mandatory' healthcare?

you do know that the employment rate in the US is 6 people to every job right now? you would have to arest 5 out of every 6 people in the US.

I have always thought that the government needs to create more jobs for those who need work... how about building railway lines and infrastructure? Jobs that are unskilled or very low skilled yet everyone can who wants to are able to work, earn money and stimulate the economy.

Hilter for example was able to drag the country out of depression and hyper inflation within a decade by building roads that lead to nowhere... i by no means agree with anything else he did though!

We certainly do not need jail terms for not working thats why people live in a free country! Mandatory work is communism and has proven not healthy for a country!

Smells like a Commie idea to me.

In China and Cambodia when the commie way of thought was brought about by those Russians, everybody worked since it is the Commie way. I don't think anyone has forgotten names like "Chairman" Mao, or Pol Pot yet.

Then again, lots of folks nowadays have short memories so I say carry on.

I was going to respond by saying "Didn't we already abolish slavery?" but I think like most things slavery simply evolved, there is a relevant quote somewhere that goes along the lines of "None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who think they're free".

I think it's time we moved away from a society that believes that "contributing" is only possible through working and paying taxes, this is a brainwashed slave mentality.

The system is corrupt, there is absolutely no reason that people should be having to work 40-50 hours per week just to put food on the table whilst those at the top do a fraction of the work for a fraction of the time and earn millions more for it.

its not that people need to go to jail for being unemployed its that people need to start to work somewhere and accept the wages they get and just be happy with it ,

a bad trend that sweeping over the globe is that you basic worker is demanding white collar vagues and and the white collars are demanding blue collar vagues and the blue collars are demanding even more for a job where they all ready got a good vague from.

a good example

a "friend" (with a 2 year schooling degree and non work experience) of mine was offered a job that payed 1800 a month she could not take it because she thougth she deserved 2500 a month now shes unemployed....? darwin award

for that 2500 an other friend of mine had to work for a company for 11 and get a degree.

and it is this trend that got us to the brink of economic collapse in the first place, people think they deserve more for some reason and play out their life like its some sort of simcity pink princess land where everything is handed on a golden plate in front of you only for you to judge it.

people are unemployed because of shere idiocy , self neglect and a belif that they deserve more.

the only sollution to unemployment is to acturly start somewhere be it by the stick of a broom or taking care of elderly, children, disabled or just by simply proving in the community that you deserve a job by doing community services for free.

with that said i want you to ask a burgerflipper how much they get and what they think they deserv,

might get things into context.

Let's make work mandatory, just like they want to make healtcare mandatory. Almost everyone in this country is capable of some sort of work. Even a person with Downs Syndrome can work at McDonalds.

And these people will be paid, how? With who's money?

Or are you suggesting that we simply print more money to pay for this forced labor?

You think healthcare is going to be expensive? Try hitting 100% employment on the taxpayers dime....

Another thing that you fail to understand is that in order for a Capitalistic society to function, it requires a base percentage of unemployment to draw from much like a people-bank when the need requires, and then deposit them back when the system is done with them.

If that bank is suddenly wiped out, so are a LOT of very large companies.

I have a 46 year old sister with cerebral palsy.
She has no muscular control, and must be fed, bathed, and taken to the restroom by her nurse.
We are a well heeled family, so having a nurse on duty 24/7/365 is no financial strain for us, but what job do you suggest she take?
A smiling shill sitting on a bus bench? Sorry, she can't control the spasms in her face either.
Maybe she could be a movie reviewer, but she has trouble focusing her eyes.
Maybe she could be a door stop, but she tends to roll when she falls over.
Just exactly what sort of future do you have in mind for my sister, prison?
Oh, I get it, duck the issue and leave it to the "Death Panel".
Pray that you never become disabled, for you'r words may haunt you.
Remember, Karma never forgets, and loves irony.
May you'r life continue to be full and without the insults of age or injury, remember what you wrote here when you are 83 and sitting in jail.

eh, not so much, but I have always been a proponent of the stick and bag eligibility program.

here's teh deal. you want to be on a government program, welfare, unemployment, food stamps, public housing, etc? there is some menial labor in your future, like cleaning up various parks & streets, etc.. more or less take some burden off of the area you choose to inhabit.

Unless you're physically incapable of working, like being on high disability, bedridden, quadraplegic, comatose, etc.. there is always something you can do.

more or less, you want something from the GovCo, you gotta earn it and give some back. if you're sitting on welfare, you obviously have the time.

who's gonna be watching these children, while you have all these parents out there picking up the litter off the side of the road or whatever, for minimum wage?

Why the children will need very little watching, there will be about six foot of chain between each of their ankle bracelets as they shuffle along the highways right beside mommy and daddy, lets maximize output by including them and teaching them as well, right?
I mean consumption without contribution is living with the idea of entitlement, and no one is truly entitled to just receive for the sake of receiving, right?
Then again we could just make it mandatory to have birth control or sterelization, or even better, pay women cash to have abortions but not toss the scraps but instead use them for stem cell research, and the bonus is we're reducing the population at the same time, and retiree's living past lets say 65, have to pay, $10,000 a year to be given a "permit to live" so that would keep the aged working till they dropped on the job or just wanted to truly "retire".
Work will make you free !
seig ziggy seig ziggy heil stardust.

(you do realize i'm not serious)

or you can be unemployed because of a stupid company that "laid off" 10 people, then hired all new people in a field that is shrinking because of the economy. I can't seem to get a job , because I am either "overqualified" (believe me, mcdonald's does NOT want to hire a diamond setter) or there is some immigrant doing my job, who doesn't care about work conditions or benefits.

so do we have an employee problem or an employer problem???

Ya sure [sarcasm] let's jail stay at home moms or dads who don't go to work and instead invest time in bringing up children so that they don't become gangsta's, car thieves, convenience store robbers, bank robbers, muggers, purse snatchers, violent thugs, home invaders, break in artists, drug abusers, alcoholics, or bratts that hang out in the streets and malls?

Come on....get real.

Nothing to see here folks.

Move along please....next!
