Yes...work for all...please...
By the way...going to the human services offices once a week making sure there arent any jobs you want so's you can get your check and food stamps does not count as work.

If we were all busy working, who would have time to attend protests 10,000 men strong in canada?

And what about those of us who move around monthly making it damn near impossible to hold what many would consider a 'steady job'?

My wife and I use our own methods to bring enough money in to survive. We're gypsies by nature and have a very unique way of bringing in money. Did I mention we don't pay taxes except on what we buy at a store?

As long as we can keep our RV fueled, eat very well, and have enough money to enjoy the little thing's, why should we be required to work?

If I understand you properly...in my book...you are working.

You are being productive members of society I believe. You are obviously providing a service or a product that is of value.
And, you are a consumer...also helpful to society.

However, if I have missunderstood you...and you are scamming the gov for $? BAD ON YOU...but I don't think you are

the government would probably end up spending more money putting everybody to work than they are now giving away??
I mean, we'd need a special agency staffed by "qualified" people who would earn above the market rate! and then they'd need offices in every community, new buildings would need to be built (or well, it's hard times, they might decide to lease some of the empty buildings that we have scattered all over the place!)
and, well, then we'd have to pay them to do the jobs that we are getting along fine not having done now.
not to mention the childcare for their above normal sized families....
transportation to get them to the job site....
ect...ect...

look at all the money that is spent now, to create jobs, to put people to work!! the rate of pay that these jobs will be paying as opposed to the cost of creating them....
in most cases, they gov't will never recoup the money that they've invested in them!! the jobs just don't pay that much or last long enough to provide that kind of tax revenue. the only ones who are benefitting are the companies that are taking advantage of the incentives to hire more people, then they usually don't hold up to their end of the agreement.

I'd give the People on the dole a certain period of time to show progress in finding a job,If they don't seem like they're looking I would cut their support from the Govt.

I would say that if an individual is in the suitable criteria to work (i.e no mental/physical issues, no other parties like children or elderly who need their support alone and between 18 and 60) and they refuse work available then they should lose any benefits previously entitled to them like free healthcare and tax credits.

I "put in my time" and worked hard for a long time: the difference IS I saved, invested wisely, and didn't live beyond my means! I managed my credit and resources like a responsible adult and can now enjoy the "want to do" types of "work" as opposed to the "have to do..."
Never took a dime of assistance or "help" in any form and am debt-free except for the stuff we all have to pay monthly such as utilities.

And now you want me to to take a do over?

Nope.Let some of the others put in their time!

So basically, the OP suggested that the government pay people minimum wage to pick up trash on the side of the road, carry brief cases, and run errands for businesses? It would have to the government paying for these services, because private industry isn't stepping up demand for brief case carriers.

This type of socialist non-sense is why we should be teaching Economic Logic in schools. The sad thing is that, I think the OP and supporters fail to realize that he/she is supporting a socialist policy!

Thats a good thought, but if there were jobs out there I guarantee people will not turn down work. The problem that has been said many many times before there just isn't any jobs to take.

Very interesting but there is one problem it has already been done. I think it is called unemployment and it is in every state.

I agree fully. Those who do not work should be put in jail.

I am offering $1 an hour for 8 hours daily to maintain my lawn and garden, plenty of weeds that never seem to die off, flowers to grow and hedges to trim. Free water for your thirst but food is on your own.

Those who do not take up my job should be jailed, locked up and the key thrown away!

Or better yet. One unkind thought or negative value judgment towards someone and you die.

Good idea! Just need to be more specific.

Those who have unkind and negative thoughts against humanity is allowed and encourage for they are supporters.

Those who have unkind and negative thoughts against the Corporations will be hanged! The taxes, directly or indirectly paid by the People to fund the Gestapo and the SS military forces will be used against such People.

It is a personal choice to be lazy. Its called freedom. Sorry to hear you hate freedom so much. Why not move to China? They hate freedom there for sure and maybe since you have the mindset you could be one of the slave masters while your peasants toil for $1 a day.

Well if you are going to choose to be lazy then you shouldn't be handed free food, housing, and money. You should starve to death. You reap what you sew, or at least you should.

There is your problem. You are worried about who deserves what and what you can do to ensure everyone gets what they deserve. Just leave people alone and they get what they get and as you put it they reap what they sow. And you are sort of right that if they starve to death that is too bad for them and better luck for the who have not starved yet.

But your attitude seems like you actually *want* them to starve to death. Of course people don't have a right to food shelter and clothing. What people have a right to is to do with their bodies as they wish so long as they are not harming others, and that means they may chose not to work.

Your big idea on this thread in the OP is to enslave the world. And you think that is going to make everyone happy? Enslaving everyone into doing the job you tell them to do? That is so far off I don't know what to tell you.

The whole reason there are so many unemployed people is because of the government. So since too much government was the problem perhaps dramatically more government is not the solution? What do you think of that idea... less government instead of more since government is the actual problem with our economy?

Let's make work mandatory...I say unless you are quadrepalegic then you should be able to do something useful. .. I say if you refuse to work, you should get the same fines as what they propose in Healthcare "Reform" for not having insurance... There is no excuse not to work unless you are severly ill or severly handicapped.

You're dead wrong on every count.

In America, you are not obligated to work, you can go your whole life without working, and that choice is (and should be) protected by the Constitution.

It's called LIBERTY — your God-given right to make your own choices without interference from the Government.

Work should never be mandatory.

But the Government should NOT be obligated to CARRY your ass if you choose not to work. The FREE RIDE is what we should outlaw. We should ABOLISH WELFARE and ABOLISH the FREE RIDE.

So, if you choose not to work nor participate in the system, that is your right and your choice.

But don't expect the government to come to your rescue.

If you're retired you WORK on improving and maintaining the equity of your assets. You are self employed.

But for others, there has to be jobs available for for them to work.

So which came first, the chicken or the egg?

Yeah lets pass another law that forces people to do the right thing! That i'll fix it! And if they don't go to work then lock them up, house them, feed them... Oh wait... Sigh!

Here is a novel idea cut off the welfare, you don't work you don't eat... Naw that makes to much sense.
