According to Danny Aerts has something similar not happened in recent years in Sweden.

Fact is that still at this hour 02.30 GMT several hundreds of thousands sites are still down and there´s no news covering it at this hour what so ever!

A consolidation of the media information through a centralized infrastructure sounds ominous; especially considering that the MSM hasn't covered such a momentous event.

Umm... the link you gave us was to a Swedish site ending in .se, yet I was able to access it.

I'm thinking that either this whole thing is overblown, or it is over by now.

[Update:] OK, so the entire .se domain was down for 20 minutes at 10 PM. That's pretty terrible, but at least it happened during the night, when there would be less urgent need for access. Continued outages for many sites is a result ot caching, which could be fixed by flusing the caches.

You have to read the whole post, not just the title. Having an entire country's internet go down for even 20 minutes is a big deal. Several hundred thousands of sites are still down according to the OP. Obviously, not every site but those that don't update often.

To make one thing clear the Foundation for Internet infrastructure is a private company who took over the responsibility from KTH (Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan=Royal Technichal University...approx)

And this has never happened before. Not to my knowledge.

Obama also just become the first prez to head the security council at the UN.... this could be a trial run to see if it works and how people react... just a thought or possibility...
