Desperate minds resort to personal attacks. Nothing better to say? Typical indeed. The flag is being sold on EBAY as the "Barack Obama USA Flag"

Jibeho - I have nothing better to say because this issue is frankly, so incredibly stupid and a waste of time that it angers me that it was brought up.

You want to get indignant about novelty American flags and 'desecration'?
Here - click this if you dare:
click me Jibeho

It's a novelty item and 100% legal. In poor taste - perhaps, but nothing illegal about it.

Holy crap - find something better to get your panties in a wad about! There are tons of more deserving things: the healthcare mess, two wars that are killing our sons and daughters everyday (started under WHO?!?), the tanking economy, the demise of the dollar, the list could go on and on -

and you're all spun-up about a friggin novelty flag that could be sold at "Spencers Gifts" as a gag item.

No. My point is that the Op' is clearly partisan, and would probably be suceptible of appreciating the flag I linked to, because it furthers his political agenda, and ideas about Mr Obama.

I will also add that on a personal level, I find that getting all exited over a piece of cloth with lines and colors that is popular because it creates differences between geneticaly identical human beings, is backwards, foolish, and dangerous for our species.

I never said the flag was illegal. I only mentioned the chance that it could possibly violate the Flag Code.

Feel free to browse my threads and posts. You will see where I stand regarding Obama's policies. Not that far from you in certain regards. I don't like the symbolism that is implied by this flag. That is my right. I don't like Obama's policies, I don't approve of his Czar appointments. I don't approve of the people he associates with and uses for consultation. He is not above scrutiny. Obama is an egomaniac. I'm sure he will buy one of these flags to put in his White House Memory Chest.

I was trying to rile people up because anything that would make my 'volunteering' mandatory is a blatant swipe at my personal liberty - and yours too.

I never said anything about us being polar-opposites. My whole issue with this thread is that it is a non-issue. It's flack. Fluff. A shiny object that distracts people from the real issues that require attention.

Give it rest friend. Obama is the peoples choice like it or not. I guess you would have rather held on to George Bush right?

You are right. I will give it a rest. However only 53% the nation voted for Obama and a large portion of those voters are realizing that they made a crucial mistake today. I'm glad Bush is gone. Unfortunately, Obama is not much different from Bush.

The true Patriots of the United States who will defend the U.S. Constitution at ALL costs are completely armed to the TEETH and ready to fight and use guerrilla tactics if needed . Those out there who would like to try and permanently change it, usually fall into the "peace loving, anti gun, pacifist" crowd.

Nice, but completely spun around in the opposite direction of reality.

Heres a fun list of anti-constitutional rightwing movements in the last 9 years:

administration order authorizes NSA monitoring of domestic phone and internet traffic

detention without charge for any terror suspects. (and guess what, websites like ATS is a noted potential terrorist website..tks bush)

Attorney General John Ashcroft announces change in Department of Justice (DOJ) policy. According to the new policy DOJ will impose far more stringent criteria for the granting of Freedom of Information Act requests.

NSA launches massive new database of information on US phone calls.

The USA Patriot Act (this deserves its own section, its 100% constitutional violations in the disguise of safety). *some* gems of this lovely republican pushed agenda include:
allows the FBI to monitor and tape conversations between attorneys and clients, allows the FBI to order librarians to turn over information about patron’s reading habits, allows the government to conduct surveillance on internet and email use of US citizens without notice. The act also calls for expanded use of National Security Letters (NSLs), which allow the FBI to search telephone, email and financial records of US citizens without a court order, exempts the government from needing to reveal how evidence against suspected terrorists was obtained and authorizes indefinite detention of immigrants at the discretion of law enforcement and immigration authorities.

Lets continue

Executive order limits release of presidential documents. The order gives incumbent presidents the right to veto requests to open any past presidential records and supercedes the congressionally passed law of 1978 mandating release of all presidential records not explicitly deemed classified

FBI and Department of Defense (DOD), forbidden by law from compiling databases on US citizens, begin contracting with private database firm ChoicePoint to collect, store, search and maintain data

Secret executive order issued authorizing NSA to wiretap the phones and read emails of US citizens.

Transportation Security Adminstration (TSA) acknowledges it has created both a “No Fly” and a separate “Watch” list of US travelers.

Department of Justice authorizes the FBI to monitor political and religious groups. The new rules permit the FBI to broadly search or monitor the internet for evidence of criminal activity without having any tips or leads that a specific criminal act has been committed. (proud to be an American was the top song when this piece of art came out over here, yee-haw)

Supreme Court upholds the right of school administrators to conduct mandatory drug testing of students without probable cause (ahh, nothing like unreasonable searching of citizens by the government without any cause..let freedom ring)

Homeland Security Act of 2002 establishes separate Department of Homeland Security. Among other things the department will federally coordinate for the first time all local and state law enforcement nationwide and run a Directorate of Information and Analysis with authority to compile comprehensive data on US citizens using public and commercial records including credit card, phone, bank, and travel. The department also will be exempt form Freedom of Information Act disclosure requirements. The Homeland Security department’s jurisdiction has been widely criticized for being nebulously defined and has extended beyond terrorism into areas including immigration, pornography and drug enforcement (gotta love that last part...sure, grow to encompass all crimes, and potential crimes...nothing like a secret police state that exists above the law.)

Anyhow, that represents a single year of conservatism in the US...from 2001 to 2002...and it just gets much much worse.

Those yokels with the guns and the country music and whatnot are the ones whom voted in these jokers...TWICE...while those peace loving hippys were the ones griping and doing anti-american things like demanding the constitution be observed and not to sacrifice our freedom for safety...(of course those weird liberal consitution lovers were considered all but french at that point)

Your opinion is based in what exactly? facts of history or rumors of present bigots?

I understand at this point your not reading this...typically one particular mindset has trouble reading anything (fact or otherwise) that doesnt advance their worldview, but oh well...one can only try to educate.

One last note

in October 2007, there was a shining example of freedom sent to the states:
John Warner Defense Authorization Act is passed. The act allows a president to declare a public emergency and station US military troops anywhere in America as well as take control of state based national guard units without consent of the governor or other local authorities. The law authorizes presidential deployment of US troops to round-up and detain “potential terrorists”, “illegal aliens” and “disorderly” citizenry.

The conservative movement has proved to be the most damning thing for the US freedoms...I can safely say that short of adopting a swastica and marching reds down every street, Obama wont even come close to the Bush regime and the conservative cronies and how they all but used the constitution as toilet paper for the previous 8 years.

Source

and remember, this is just constitutional violations...if you want to read on ethical and moral violations...well, it will take a ton of space to even show the highlights.

Finally...for kicks, do a search for John Ashcroft and look at his list of "accomplishments" (aka, how he destroyed the heart of America).

enjoy

What are words but manipulated air? What are ideas but electrical firings in the brain? This is what makes us who we are. This may not be important to you but to some it is. You say you respect a persons right to fly this flag yet you don't respect a person's right to oppose such a flag. For people that claim conservatives are full of haters, it's ironic that you all are the most nasty little haters around.
