guns are basically what sustains power and order in most communist countries. but what also sustains peace of mind and freedom

We would still be in the dark ages. Think about it, war has for better or worse sped up technology(to a certain degree). One side creating new devices to defeat the enemy. But if we didnt have guns we'd still be hackin away at each other like we did.
