Not you. I'm speaking more in terms of the current administration, to make a point.

Really, really.

The guy who makes a thread denouncing an entire political party calls me a sheep.

Thanks for the laugh.

I consider you a foe for belonging to a political cult at all... Republicans, Democrats, Leftists, Rightists... you're all anti-American to me.

Ironic. I consider myself to be a real american. A true american, other than the sham-americans who support a marxist, socialist way of life.

So what about constitutionalists and freedom fighters, who believe that our founding fathers had the right idea and that you partisan cultists are destroying everything a real American believes in?

What are we, to you? The devil?

The only thing worse than a sheep, is a sheep who is ignorant to the fact that he's a sheep. You could use a good hard look in the mirror, Mr. Republican Cultist.

Agreed that there is hatred on both sides of the aisle. However, it seems that the democrats, with the encouragement of the MSM outlets, have spent the 8 years of the Bush admin. rationalizing their hate.

Do you recall the vitriol and hate that came out of the right-wing news outlets during the Clinton years? It was every bit as ugly.

The whole political system is broken and it is due in large part to the news outlets presenting things in such a divisive manner. You're either for us or against us - there is no longer any in-between. As a result, we've become completely polarized and it's our own fault because we've fed the beast and continue to feed it.

How?

Simply by watching.

FoxNews, CNN, Hannity, Drudge, Beck, Olbermann - they all have but one goal - ratings. Period. They are not motivated by ideology. They're not motivated by morals. They're motivated by greed. By dollars.

If they get an audience, they keep doing it. If their audience grows, they try to figure out why and do more of it. As a result, their messaging has become focused to a laser-fine point to appeal to a very specific group and that audience has become cancerous to the American political system. Those viewers are vocal, fired-up, and usually well-funded. As a result, their voices carry.

What's the cure? There isn't one. We can't eliminate the freedoms we hold so dear in regards to the press. The only thing we can do is to turn them off and encourage those around us to do the same.

Stay wise to the game and you can stay ahead of it.

I am a firm believer in the constitution. I welcome debate. Hate-filled rhetoric belongs in the playground, however.

How can you equate opinion with vitriol?

That has been the most successful weapon of the left. Honest debate? Argument for another option? = Hate.

It boggles the mind that you can see the two as equal.

I would debate further, but have to walk my son to the bus stop.

Back in 15.

This thread, as a whole entity, is 100% hate filled rhetoric.

Just look at the title- it denounces an entire political party as hateful.. how is that, in itself, not hateful?

Though you may welcome debate, I'm betting it to be irrational.

You really do need a good, hard look in the mirror.. you are a walking stereotype, stereotyping others.

Get over yourself.

There is no such thing as a "Fake American", friend - unless that person was not born on U.S. soil. By casting those with a differing view from yours in a "fake American" glow - you're automatically becoming a cog in their great machine and part of the cancer that needs to be cut-out of the system.

We can disagree with the other side, yet still embrace them as fellow Americans.

I am in favor of healthcare reform, against the wars, pro-gun, pro-choice, pro tax-reform, anti religion in schools but a Christian, and just generally a mishmash of right and left wing ideology.

Does that make me a 'Non American' in your world, mikerussellus? In mine, it just means I'm an every day U.S. citizen - looking for sanity in a political system that has none.

How is it hate-filled to point out demegogery?

Just by pointing out issues, do I become as smeared by those that I accuse?

Nay.

As a former Brit, I can't run for office like some of you "real americans" but I have the advantage of seeing this country in a different light. As a new american, an immigrant, I may notice things that you don't. As new, I mean been here for almost twenty years now.

All I've seen, thus far, are bottomless accusations and name-calling.

Where are these "points" you are making / speaking of?

This thread is completely moronic, to be honest.

*sigh*

Then leave. If you can't see the hate on the side of the left, then any debate with you would be pointless. If you can't distinguish between a difference of opinion and true anger then you have been lost.

By simply pointing it out, I have been accused of hate myself.

Well, too damn bad. The emperor has no clothes. I am not going to be a "sheep" and blindly follow the safe path.

Good luck and best fortunes, my latest foe!

Don't be so dramatic. "By simply pointing it out, I have been accused of hate myself," I'm sure the same could be said about what many Democrats think and say. Personally, I am not even sure what this thread is about now. You agree the Republicans say, do, think hateful things but the Democrats are more hateful and won't budge an inch on your beliefs.
Ok.

I have tried to describe, repeatedly, that the main difference between idealogy (conservatives) and demagogery (left) is simple.

Most don't get it though. Sure, there is hate. I'd be stupid to think that there aren't conservatives who use that term just to paint themselves in a more legitimate frame.

But the democratic party has used demagogery for decades. It has become socially acceptable. And that brand of hate is unacceptable, in my mind. I will call it for what it is. plain and simple.

Do you know the definition of the words you throw around with such fervor?

Main Entry: 1dem·a·gogue Variant(s): also dem·a·gog \ˈde-mə-ˌgäg\
Function: noun
Etymology: Greek dēmagōgos, from dēmos people (perhaps akin to Greek daiesthai to divide) + agōgos leading, from agein to lead — more at tide, agent
Date: 1648
1 : a leader who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims and promises in order to gain power
2 : a leader championing the cause of the common people in ancient times

You're in desperate need of a reality check since that is something that is routinely done on BOTH sides. It's politics 101 - find something that your constituents are afraid of and make sure you've plastered it all over your opponent.

"Ideology" is another basic and essential cornerstone of any sort of political movement. That's what politics are all about at their very core. To say that one party embraces it while the other doesn't is simply asinine and ignorant of the very definition of the word.

You are the master of deflection, huh?

Tell me, please, how a thread that stereotypes all democrats as hateful, is not hateful?

That's like asking "how come all women are so hateful" and expecting an honest debate.

If the topic of this thread weren't so hypocritical, maybe I'd be more willing to participate.

Let me ask you:

How come YOU are so hateful?

This is almost too easy. And yes, a few pages back, I did list the definitions. You just can't accept the fact that the liberals have created a hate-filled climate.

Fine. Denial, ain't just a river in Egypt.

When you DO realize that, then we can debate.

Is the OP blind? All we are saying is that both sides are guilty of demagoguery AND hate. Of course there is hate on the left. No one in this thread is denying that. All we want you to do is except that there is hate on the right as well. That is what is keeping us from having an honest debate; your obvious right wing bias.

And as for the poster who stated that all poor people are either veterans with mental issues or drug addicts...are you serious? What about air line pilots on food stamps? Are they not working hard enough? Is there job not absolutely essential in our society?

Hate from the left has become, in part due to actions of the left, socially acceptable.

It's true.
