There’s definitely a 2012 feel in the soundtrack of the Watchmen trailer:

The beginning is the end is the beginning by Smashing Pumpkings.

My 2012 Theme song would be:

The End by the Doors (btw the death of Jim Morrison is a conspiracy in it's self)

Lyrics:
This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

Of our elaborate plans, the end
Of everything that stands, the end
No safety or surprise, the end
I'll never look into your eyes...again

Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need...of some...stranger's hand
In a...desperate land

Lost in a Roman...wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain, yeah

There's danger on the edge of town
Ride the King's highway, baby
Weird scenes inside the gold mine
Ride the highway west, baby

Ride the snake, ride the snake
To the lake, the ancient lake, baby
The snake is long, seven miles
Ride the snake...he's old, and his skin is cold

The west is the best
The west is the best
Get here, and we'll do the rest

The blue bus is callin' us
The blue bus is callin' us
Driver, where you taken' us

The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived, and...then he
Paid a visit to his brother, and then he
He walked on down the hall, and
And he came to a door...and he looked inside
Father, yes son, I want to kill you
Mother...I want to...(deleted) you

C'mon baby, take a chance with us
C'mon baby, take a chance with us
C'mon baby, take a chance with us
And meet me at the back of the blue bus
Doin' a blue rock
On a blue bus
Doin' a blue rock
C'mon, yeah

Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill, kill

This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end

It hurts to set you free
But you'll never follow me
The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die

This is the end

Ya learn ta live like an animal In the jungle where we play If you got a hunger for what you see You'll take it eventually You can have anything you want But you better not take it from me!

Incubus has a good song called "Warning". It really has a feel for the end of the world type of thing...i like it allot!

Bat your eyes girl, be otherworldly.
Count your blessings. Seduce a stranger.
What's so wrong with being happy?
Kudos to those who see through sickness. (yeah)
Over and over and over and over and ooh...

She woke in the morning.
She knew that her life had passed her by
And she called out a warning:
"Don't ever let life pass you by!"

I suggest we learn to love
ourselves before it's made illegal.
When will we learn? (When will we learn?)
When will we change? (When will we change?)
Just in time to see it all come down.
Those left standing will make millions
writing books on the way it should have been.

When she woke in the morning,
she knew that her life had passed her by
And she called out a warning (warning):
"Don't ever let life pass you by!"

Floating in this cosmic jacuzzi,
we are like frogs oblivious
to the water starting to boil.
No one flinches. We all float face down.

She woke in the morning.
She knew that her life had passed her by
And she called out a warning,
"Don't ever let life pass you by...
pass you by..."

Text

She woke in the morning.
She knew that her life had passed her by
And she called out a warning,
"Don't ever let life pass you by...
pass you by..."

Both good picks. The second one ...Smile...done by Michael Jackson sure strikes an emotional cord. Wish he was still with us.

Americas prophetic funeral hymn
There's an interpretation of this song that imo far out reaches the one
about Buddy Holly.

I made qa thread like this but it went nowhere

But theres been some great darned songs posted here,
This is my one, some of the lyrics are in my sig,
Its one of the last songs Jimi ever did,
he had locked himself in the studio by himself for 2 weeks and come out with this, and its a song thats never been praised ever. To me its the greatest song ever written.

Alrightey, so one song to some up 2012?

When I think of 2012 I think of destruction, chaos, enlightenment, and spiritual advancement.

When I think of all of this combined - Sudden awakening and lots of destruction, musically I think of "power" and then a "breakdown".

Which is why I pick Deconstructing Towers by Isis:

I think 2012 is not the time to worry. Why all the sad songs?
Do never get overwhelmed.

The paranoia is in bloom, the PR
The transmissions will resume
They'll try to push drugs
Keep us all dumbed down and hope that
We will never see the truth around

Another promise, another scene, another
A package not to keep us trapped in greed
With all the green belts wrapped around our minds
And endless red tape to keep the truth confined

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

Interchanging mind control
Come let the revolution take it's toll if you could
Flick the switch and open your third eye, you'd see that
We should never be afraid to die

Rise up and take the power back, it's time that
The fat cats had a heart attack, you know that
Their time is coming to an end
We have to unify and watch our flag ascend

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

They will not force us
They will stop degrading us
They will not control us
We will be victorious

Mouth´s Cradle by Björk

This song is so twisted, its like coming out of Chaos and into the light. Its a long spiraling journey upward.
