This question was asked on 2 websites I visited today, and the results speak for themselves:

ninemsn.com.au...
yes 27032
no 39629

Facebook

From 220,795 votes:

YES 15.5 %

NO 81.8 %

MAYBE 2.7 %

So looks like this may blow up in Obamas face - a real backfire!

Thank god people are starting to wake up to the NWO tricks and games.

You mean the facebook voters votes don't count???
I'm appalled! They should have contacted facebook immediately upon Obama's nomination and taken a vote among the "facebookers" of the USA. I mean... they are the ones who have scoured Nobel's will and know what the prize is all about.

Whoever is on this silly politically-split "Nobel Prize Committee" that voted unanimously for Obama to win - they don't know anything! Stupid people!

Unlike the other Nobel Prizes, which are awarded by Swedish institutions, the peace prize is given out by the five-member committee elected by the Norwegian Parliament. Like the Parliament, the panel has a leftist slant, with three members elected by left-of-centre parties and two right-of-centre members. Jagland said the decision to honour Obama was unanimous.

Noone should win an award based on the accomplishments people hope they'll make. That's the most absurd criteria I've ever heard. The awards I won in sports were given to me because I actually achieved the goal of the award. Only then was I awarded a trophy, medal, certificate or ribbon.

That's the society we live in now though. If you have aspirations, then that seems to fit the bill to be chosen for an award these days. Most obvious is Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize. It would be laughable if it weren't so pathetic.

Even my mother who is not so interested in politics gave me a priceless wtf face when she saw it on the news...i think that says it all.

Does he deserve it?

At this point what difference does it make? He has, and we should honor that. This award is not given lightly and the members of the committee
obviously felt he should.

Instead of taking pride in this, it's just another way to verbally assault him.
It's petty, whining, jealous, thriving on the hatred and negativity from small minds which wallow in this kind of opportunity to create more confusion and discontent.

Receiving this award is an honor. It has been given to Barack Obama, your president. Get over yourself.

This award was given to Obama in the hopes that it would influence his foreign policy. IT WAS NOT GIVEN BECAUSE OF HIS ACCOMPLISHMENTS, but rather to bring him in line with Euro-elite thinking.

Perhaps there are parallels to "affirmative action" policies in corporate USA?

I mean, I have personally witnessed reverse discrimination where the best qualified, longer term employee was overlooked to satisfy a "quota" and a person who was not qualified was awarded an unearned promotion.

Why should the actions of the Nobel prize "deciders" be exempt from that type of arbitrary policy?

With few real accomplishments other than winning an election for the Office of President of the USA (paid for in part by lobbyists) and bailing out the elite, and hmm... what else really?

It is not racial is it?

Well said! [APPLAUSE] I couldn't have said it better myself.

Starred for great content.

My opinion is the obvious. No he didn't deserve it. It is a deliberate ploy to increase his approval rating. IMHO.

'Deserve' is all upon who makes the decision. Seeing as the Nobel 'Peace' Prize has reverted into a socialist political recognition, and the socialist world has elevated Obama to the level of a messiah globally, him receiving this Prize in recognition of his first 11 days in office doing nothing makes total sense. Jimmy Carter and Al Gore, 2 other socialist world American icons, have also received this Prize in recognition of their position in socialism globally. They really ought to rename the Prize though to reflect it's true purpose today. The Nobel Marxism Prize would definitely fit.

Here's what happened obama was nominated for the prize two weeks into his presidency thinking by now he would have saved the ins.industry, the banks, the auto industry etc.,healed relations with Iraq,Venezuela and Cuba, closed Gitmo got us out of Iran. They were really setting this guy up to be leader/savior of the world and then...................they hit a snag on healthcare and the American people woke up.BIG PROBLEM.
Think about it!
POWER TO THE PEOPLE!
do you think if obama's people remembered/knew/thought he was going to win they would have put a stop to it?

obama is the great community organizer the greatest community organizer this

World has ever known. obama should of been given the World Emperor Award

and not the Nobel Peace Prize. The Nobel Peace Prize is not good enough for

him and obama said he personally thought he did not deserve the award.

Maybe with this award obama can bring the World together under a One World

Government directed by the supreme direction of the New World Order. ^Y^

I have a feeling that Obama was given the Nobel prize to force him to attempt to follow though on promises that he has made. The chances are he will not be able to do this so the end result is likely to be failure. We would all like to think that the world can live in peace without the threat of nuclear weapons but the realists will tell you that this is just not going to happen.

IMO he is being setup to fail. If he had any sense at all he would politely refuse the award.

And on the seventh post, He said, "Let there be the race card". And it was played.

Congratulations.

And on his next post he responded....

I played no card, I asked a question... did you read the entire post or just the first line?

It's okay to use race to define criticism of this president, but criminal to question the true intent of the Nobel "deciders"?

I think you missed the point completely.

Did anyone see Real Time with Bill Maher last night. They spoke a little on this.
Obviously it was brought up how the recipient of this award currently is involved in 2 wars and that his country is still capturing people and torturing them but Cornel West was on the panle and made some very good points. He said that giving Obama this award can be a very good thing provided he folowed though with some promises and started bring home troops to end these conflicts. Bill made mention that recently it was stated that there were only about 100 al-qaeda members left and that should be good reason to start bringing home troops. Cornel agreed and made mention this would really make Obama look worthy.

But the best point Cornel made was if he didn't follow through with peaceful actions that now the world can really hold Obama accountable for his actions. Especially when the global community has giving you such a prestigious award.

Personally I think Obama is screwed. It would have been in his best interest to have not accepted this award in the first place. I think if he said "no thanks" and explained why, "I'm currently in command of 2 ugly wars" he would have gained alot of respect. Especially from the people that don't really like him.

Including me!

Hmmm, 11 days into his presidency. A junior senator, with a background in community organizing. A member of the Marxist New Party. (apcheck.blogspot.com...)

And he gets the Nobel.

Yeah, sure he deserved it.

Then he set himself up for failure, he made the promises, no one twisted his arm, all politicians make promises they know they can't keep,

I despise them.
