This Is Very Interesting...

A subliminal message is a signal or message designed
to pass below (sub) the normal limits of perception. For
example it might be inaudible to the conscious mind (but
audible to the unconscious or deeper mind) or might be
an image transmitted briefly and unperceived
consciously and yet perceived unconsciously. This
definition assumes a division between conscious and
unconscious which may be misleading; it may be more
true to suggest that the subliminal message (sound or
image) is perceived by deeper parts of what is a single
integrated mind.

Subliminal cuts were banned because they influenced people without their knowledge .
Nowadays advertisers have a new way to get round this ban:- They have very quick editing in adverts ,when viewed on fast forward on a video this editing works effectively as subliminal cuts.
There are a few movies with subliminal cuts,The Exorcist, being a famous example.

Sure they work!... alot of time and money is spent by major companys like Burger King.Mcdonalds,Just about any advertising company have been applying these since the 1940's. Now it is state of the art. I worked a Casino for charity as a chip runner on an eight hour shift i had a very good conversation with the manager as the place had just been renovated,he told me nothing was left to chance in the design layout, and manor of all things in the casino. Everything from the type of carpet used(dull in apperance) to keep your eyes on the games, to the actual placement of each section of the slots, bathrooms, bar, food you name it. no clocks so there is no perception of time spent, no windows. and thats just one example, subliminal advertising is all around us and it does work on the most basic level of human perception.

Here is a program the CIA had for mind controlling;

Subliminal CIA
by Jon Elliston

Forty years ago, the American public suddenly faced an unsettling question: could subliminal persuasion be used to influence the unsuspecting? The anecdotal evidence seemed to confirm the Big Brotherish power of undetected commands slipped "beneath the threshold of awareness." The Central Intelligence Agency, then in the midst of a multi-million dollar mind war research program, was intrigued by the potential power of subliminal messages. Classified documents released decades after these events reveal an obscure and intriguing chapter in the CIA's long involvement with techniques of mental manipulation.

As the CIA learned, the effectiveness of subliminal communication is very much open to question. Even today, the scientific community continues to debate whether subliminals, which are messages too brief to be noticed by the viewer or listener, have any impact at all.

When the CIA peered into the power of subliminal persuasion, what did it find? The best available evidence is the surviving documentation on the CIA's research programs. These records have surfaced sporadically since the mid-1970s, when Congressional investigators and investigative reporters probed into some of the agency's notorious experiments in mind and behavior control.

A few years ago, the CIA began declassifying back copies of Studies in Intelligence, its internal journal on the history and methodology of the spy trade. At last the public can read what is probably the agency's first assessment of "The Operational Potential of Subliminal Perception." A report bearing this title appeared in the CIA journal's Spring 1958 issue.

I've done some testing on myself & others. It did work one time for myself while learning to lucid dream. Generally there seems to be mixed results. When it's on, sometimes people (including myself) get irritated in the same way they would be to the sound of a continuous car alarm in the distance.

Basicaly they insert a frame into a movie, tv show, ad every fifteen or so. Enough that the eye doesn't see it but the subconcious is more then capable. That's how the sold popcorn in the 50s and 60s at the drive in

I remember dietcoke, about 10 years ago dietcoke on NBC we would watch dietcoke the Dave letterman show dietcoke, and during the commercial breaks there dietcoke would be about a half a second of video dietcoke,
it was really hard to make out, so we dietcoke, taped it, and played it dietcoke back. It turned out to be "partnership for a Drug-Free America"
public service announcment. Just dietcoke the ending of the Ad, but The logo was all there dietcoke, and it repeated throughout the show.
This dietcoke happened for at least a dietcoke year that I know of.
Does anyone dietcoke remember this?
Or, did anyone give up drugs dietcoke about this time?

Having produced subliminal programming professionally for years (for self help purposes) I can probably answer any specific question you might have. Subliminals depend on the fact that your conscious mind does not use your senses fully, and therefor seems limited in what it can see or hear. Unconscious levels of the mind see and hear in greater detail, and are more observent of what's going on around you.

There are many types of subliminals. The most common visual subliminals are used to attract your attention. Sexual symbols, for instance can be entertwined with other images in a picture. You find yourself interested in the picture but don't know exactly why. Joe Camel is the most famous example, with a face made entirely of male and female organs.

You can use subliminals to shape public opinion, or to reprogram a person's pesonal self-definition so that they experience life in a better or more desirable way.

These messages can operate in the form of "white noise". Like right now... you probably don't hear your air conditioner on but that's only because your mind got used to it and put it in the back of your mind... Your brain processes so much material regardless wheter you actually think about it or not. That's why I don't fall asleep with the tv on and feel like people that do that will develop problems because of all they hear subconciusly while they are sleeping etc. Also, sometimes they could occur in the flash of a picture between tv ad's etc... It passes so quick that you don't notice but you actually do...
