And here is a prime example. Wonder who pays your meal ticket?

Oh I work for a special division of the CIA. We swoop in and kidnap tea partiers in black helicopters and are waiting with baited breath to take away your guns.

Oh... and we want to force abortions on everyone but Muslims and death panels are real, lol.

Dude, most Americans nowadays won't even understand your points.
Willful ignorance has become a virtue here. The land of the free and the home of the dumbed-down I'm afraid.

But hey, wasn't M'urkan Idol great the other night?

There's that nice generalization, "most Americans". Oh tell us Yoda of Liberal Virtue. Who are most Americans?

That would be you and the millions and millions and even more millions of protestors and the Fox-Newza-Palooza last month

While I do see a vastly increasing trend of ATS users with no profile, and hardly any posts, or threads, coming into threads and de-railing them, or just posting blatantly ignorant things, I can't blame it on dis-info agents. Yet.

I'm sure that there are some people in here that will back him up until the end, while never being affiliated with the gov't. Thats just the nature of people.

Everyone has an opinion. Whether its right or wrong is your opinion, too.

Just my $0.01 (-$0.01 adjusted for inflation...)

It is totally silly to suggest that someone without a profile is ...well, up to no good on any list. Given what I see with all of the left column displays exhibited here for ego's sake, the first thing that a spy would do would be to order up a nice, eye-catching one to add weight to their professed opinions.

As for the increase in posting of those with mal purposes (more or less). Understand that never before as any President had such a youthful following. These young minds use the internet, etc. unlike....say, their parents. So it is obvious that the traffic is going to start being slewed toward positive views from that side.

And I laugh to read that ATS is 75% liberal. Where or where did that concept come from?

The Israeli government has publically stated that they have hired young people to put a positive spin on all things kosher. Undoubtedly, we do the same and have done the same especially in the UFO info area.

Any brand of these folks will be tough to battle because it is their job, not just a afterwork pasttime. Consider for example, that a properly organized unit (whether they worked in a call center or in their "home office" will have the capability to tap into a database (library) where they can quickly find material that only a few of us have the tenacity to do on our own before we tire of the thread/argument. Plus, they will have researchers on tap that will track down data/info that is not quickly found on the internet.

Anyone that has had a close association with the UFO topic for many years will be the first to agree that there are disinformation units out there, far more active, far more sophisticated, and in far more areas than ever before.

OK, so I confused profile with those displays in the left column. Same difference.

You are very smart!! I applaud you. Of course there are those of us who will oppose any president who is from the two criminal gangs known as Democrats and Republicans. It is up to the people to hold their governments accountable for their actions.

Silly?
Maybe I'm the only one noticing the increase in new members that have no profile or info, and derailing threads consistently and posting ridiculously boring, celebrity, or just plain garbage threads. I hardly think its silly. How many threads can you tell are garbage just by reading the title? 65%? Maybe its just me. I apologize.

Sorry to rant, but this is off topic too. This is about dis-info agents.

I don't watch Faux news. And unlike most folks raised in the fine public (gubament) school systems, I recieved my education in the Trivium and Quadrivium in a little, old second rate private skewl.

Moreover, I'm almost certain that I've read more Marx, Mao, Dubois, and El Hajj Malik than you.

Growing a soul patch and bitching about the 'capitalist swine' while slacking at the coffee shop doesn't make you socialist anymore than owning firearms and a bible makes a person a right wing 'kook'.

You never back your sycophantic pro-Obama rants with any facts. It's always, "you right wing wing nuts say or do this," followed by psuedo-intellectual barbs that accomplish jack-sh*t. And only make the 'conservatives' on this board distrust your cause even more.

For a voice from the party of inclusion, you sure can't wait to exclude anyone who does think just like you.

You are just adorable, lol. I never even mentioned Obama in any of my posts much less rant about him. I pointed out a skewed citation to the OP and you were ready to proclaim me a disinfo agent. The rest was sarcasm.

Whether or not you watch Faux news is immaterial, because you sound just like their mindless minions, and debating you would be like trying to teach my dog how to do the hand jive, lol.

This is crazy, because I often find myself thinking the republican party has people going on message boards spreading obviously incorrect information to start trends.

At the same time the government does not need to put agents out there on the internet to spread their views. The population is diverse enough that people are going to be spreading whatever message themselves. Only real reason the government would need agents on message boards is to start trends in my eyes. In that case it would be logical to have agents infiltrate a message board community, gain respect within that community, and then when they have the communities trust mislead them with far fetched ideas. In my mind that seems like a far better investment of time because everything else is going to be taken care of already by ordinary people.

I also think that it would benefit right winged press sources to tell it's readers that everyone who opposes their views on the internet is getting paid to lie. I could see some real programs being distorted to make it seem as if this was actually being done. Who knows though, maybe it is.

I agree with your observations jdub. I think it is a combo of disinfo agents as well as members that sign up under multiple guises and then can double team opposing views as well as agree with their own posts so as to have their positions appear to be more widely accepted. Largely empty user profiles are indicative of this behavior. We can also expect profiles of this type to diminish with this attention. And so expect fully fledged phony profiles down the road.

Propaganda spread on the Internet requires little effort and investment to achieve a return. I think ATS has professional propagandists as well as their targets at times targeting the forum. The discussions here have little effect on the issues at large but...... well conceived and presented oppositions are gathered by this trolling and they then can be preemptively attacked in the real world/MSM before being widely presented.

"There's nothing so absurd that if you repeat it often enough, people will believe it." -William James

"All propaganda must be so popular and on such an intellectual level, that even the most stupid of those toward whom it is directed will understand it... Through clever and constant application of propaganda, people can be made to see paradise as hell, and also the other way around, to consider the most wretched sort of life as paradise." - Adolph Hitler

Sound familiar?

jdub,

I stopped posting to this forum a long time ago because of all the disinfo and valid sources. It became so difficult to sort through all of the pointless topics to find anything interest. So I saw your topic claiming disinfo agents are here, not asking the question are they here, as though I am supposed to read this thread and be shown incontrovertible evidence. But again to my dissappointment the evidence is not there.

The tool of propaganda has been used historically by administrations, maybe all of them, I have no idea. It was used most conspicuously by the previous administration. You have claimed that they admit to doing this. I would like to see where they have done so.

Another claim you make is that bloggers break stories that the msm and that many blogs are not worth the paper they are printed on. I would say that nearly 99% of blogs are not worth the effort. Bloggers are not held to the same scrutiny as msm. They can write whatever they want and generally the more shocking recieve more web traffic so they have the encouragement to write any shocking stories whether true or not. Also bloggers do not have access to the infrastructure necessary to break legitimate stories. They are usually discovered by msm first.

You claim that the DOJ has hired bloggers, so I decided to look deeper into this. Were these writers being used against the American people to spread propaganda? I found they did hire bloggers because they have a blog on there website, how novel.
blogs.usdoj.gov...

That's hysterical, little personal jabs about my intellect and comparisons to your poor canine companion. Point of fact, you have 'mentioned Obama'. You don't want to get in a debate with me because like most of the 'mindless minions' (BTW I find it ironic that you would call anyone a mindless minion.) I can back my assertions with evidence and facts.

The "conservative news" that you blather about got their information straight from the DOJ. They took the time to expose news that isn't going to be covered on CNN or Fox.

Good luck with your continued disinformation.

First of all, I personally don't think that the government, the FBI, the NSA, NASA, and many other agencies, could give a flying rats butt about a site like this. Considering that half the folks here are intelligent and have thought-provoking ideas... but the other half believe that politicians are reptilians, and that we are all going to die in 2012 because of a special invisible brown star, this site is not going to be considered a serious threat anytime soon.

And second, it's common practice to call anyone a disinfo agent if they disagree with your stance. I myself, even though I've just tried to voice common-sense, have been called a disinfo agent on both UFO and 9/11 agendas. Yup.. they keep me busy. When I don't have my normal day job.

Proof of this coming from rightwingnews.com...lol, of course

I don't doubt that this is happening in some for or another, but it's nothing new. Don't you think the same thing was happening during Bush's administration...don't be so gullible.

Aww thanks sweetness. Maybe we can grab a cup of coffee sometime? I think I need more intellectuals in my life.

Until then can you show me which of these posts I mentioned Obama in?
I mean you wouldn't have said it if it wasn't true right?

And thanks for pointing out my fear of debating you. You're right... I could never win.
(Think hard now... you'll understand my meaning if you try, lol)

What I find absolutely hilarious about the current debate is how quickly Obama supporters have begun to behave like Bush-bots. Moreover, I love how so many of our 'skeptics' cannot apply empirical reasoning to their own arguments or to the questions that surround Obama. These folks have no problem dissecting 9/11 or ranting about 'vast right wing conspiracies' but question the Tyrant of Tranquility and they can't wait to go on the attack.

Obama automatons....Bush bot 2.0.

I don't doubt that there are disinformation agents here. But why do you single out Obama? You know if he has them, then the other side has just as many. Both sides are completely corrupt and they both use the same tactics. Republicans have their tools too. Never forget that both parties don't give a damn about us.

this is just great. so the mods need to keep track of who is signing up new so that we can make sure to catch those *ss holes before they get to far in and find out who knows and posts what. If they get our call signs then they will know who to look for. We need to have some one who is good and knows what to look for so they can find disinfo agents. hell my name is ryan and right now i work for a website company. if you need the name so i can prove it just u2u me. i dont trust people but i aint one of those disinfo agents.

The thing is, it seems logical doesn't it?

I mean, if there isn't any concrete proof of it, you have to go by your intelligence and critical thinking, and that common sense alone suggests that it is going on.

I simply view this as one of those things I assumed we all knew, but couldn't really prove.

It's not nice at all, but they are certainly here, defending Obama to the limits of sanity.
I think it's just one of those things that we can blatantly see, and when we do see it, they should be called on it.
You can see new posters, and you can see where they are blatantly creating propaganda and spin, just block them.
