I got a kick out of that line. Don't know if anyone else answered yet.

Those numbers are in Swedish Krona (SEK), the currency of Sweden.

1,400,000 US Dollar = 9,798,208 Swedish Krona

I just don't understand why it's a bad thing.

It's very simple. In a LOT of cases, it's the "Damn the Country, Obama Must Fail" mentality. Skeptic Overlord might be tired of seeing his thread title repeated, but it's so perfect in illustrating the pervasive mentality among the Americans who don't want Obama to be our president. And since they can't do anything about it, they wish failure on him at every opportunity.

Formula:
Chicago loses Olympic bid = Obama Failure = Cheers and Applause!
Nobel Prize awarded = Obama Win = Boos, Hisses and Hateful Rhetoric

It's really very simple.

Never mind that the Nobel prize is awarded for the promotion of peace, for vision. These people can see the future! They know the Socialist UN-loving agenda to come! They have the vision of all the horrible things Obama is going to do to this country! And it's BAD! Not good.

Not only do they have that vision, they can read the minds of the committee and they know why he REALLY won (because it can't be because he deserved it). He REALLY won because the left wants to force him to act differently. He REALLY won because of (grumble-grumble) NWO (grumble-grumble). (and my favorite) He REALLY won because he's black. Yes, they played the race card throughout this and other threads, and then accused others of doing so...

Never mind that The Peace Prize has been awarded to many people whose vision didn't even pan out. That doesn't matter. The facts don't matter. All that matters is the simple formula above. And now that Obama has won, everyone's an expert on why the prize SHOULD be awarded, even though it's been awarded for the same reason for over 100 years! They think the amount of time he's been our president should matter, damn it! But it doesn't. Because this is not a "best president" award. This is not "America-centric". They don't understand that. Can't get it into their brains that this is about something bigger than the US. (There's something bigger? )

All sorts of reasons will be given for why this is a terrible thing, but the truth is, Obama was honored with an prestigious world-wide award, meaning that a lot of people like him, appreciate him and his vision for the relationship of the US in the world... and some people just can't freaking stand that.

I agree with this statement.

As much as people seem to detest Obama, he has done something positive in the realm of International Diplomacy which is why he was awarded this Nobel Peace Prize.

For Example:

1,) Nuclear Non Proliferation as well as the recent cancellation of the Euro missile shield.

2.)Initiating dialog with Iran whereas Bush refused to even permit negotiating.

3.) Recommending sanctions with Iran instead of the "Bomb Bomb Iran" rhetoric we heard from John McCain.

As far as Guantanamo, Iraq and Afghanistan, if you believe that Obama can merely wave a magic wand and change these situations without resistance from the GOP and Democrats alike in congress, then I have a bridge to sell you.

BTW, Wasn't it the Democratic congress that was supposed to end the war in Iraq ?
Yeah right...

Simply look at this ongoing request for additional troops in Afghanistan by the war mongers. Gates, the career CIA man is there for a reason. To protect the profits from both of these wars.

And finally , since this is a conspiracy website....

The Opium crop is historically the primary source of revenue for the British Crown/MI6 and the CIA. Simply look at the opium crop statistics and how they've multiplied since we've been in Afghanistan.

If Obama were to try to pull the plug on either war he'd be deader quicker than you can say "J-F-K".

How on earth does 5 Norwegian judges on a commitee voting for another rather perverse recipient of this tarnished prize, equate to worldwide aprreciation of his 'vision', even ignoring the obvious fixing of this prize.
5 people with a rather strange agenda, as against 6 billion or so. How does that mean that rather a lot of people like him? 5 is really not a lot of people no matter how you twist it.

1,) Nuclear Non Proliferation as well as the recent cancellation of the Euro missile shield.

Nuclear non proliferation has been going on since Reagan. The recent buildup near the Russian boarder was just saber waggling against the Russians. (why I have no freaking clue.) But Nuclear non proliferation has been an American and Russian agenda ever since the end of the cold war. It continues to this day.

2.)Initiating dialog with Iran whereas Bush refused to even permit negotiating.

The reason is Israel. Obama unlike Bush refuses to play Israel's game. This administration agrees that Israel is a key ally in the world, but I don't think they are going to get the leeway they used to get under Bush.

3.) Recommending sanctions with Iran instead of the "Bomb Bomb Iran" rhetoric we heard from John McCain.

It's a smart move on Obama's part. Peaceful ideals and getting the world to go along with it is much better than unilateral moves that only isolate ourselves while giving our purposed enemy the ability to become the martyr in a globalist game of chess.

As far as Guantanamo, Iraq and Afghanistan, if you believe that Obama can merely wave a magic wand and change these situations without resistance from the GOP and Democrats alike in congress, then I have a bridge to sell you.

Gitmo is a very troublesome problem, here we have what is really a United States Concentration Camp, and to end this and move these people out of there is going to be a problem. For one, because we have determined them as "illegal enemy combatants", It makes it nearly impossible to prosecute them under international law. Furthermore, many of them have no home to return to, because their countries refuse to allow them in. They are for all intents and purposes people without a country at this point. We have the obligation to take care of these people. They have no else to go and obviously we cannot let them go here. So we are stuck between a rock and a hard place as far as Gitmo detainees go.

BTW, Wasn't it the Democratic congress that was supposed to end the war in Iraq ?

Oh that's right, just leave it to someone else. Thanks GOP. Here we have a war that we cannot just pull out of without starting a civil war in a country (which might not be a bad thing) and the democratic congress is supposed to end it. And of course it's Obama that is supposed to end it.

Afghanistan is itself another problem. Here we have not only a war without an effective withdraw policy, we also have a Haliburton natural gas pipeline construction project going on which the US won't acknowledge.

Bush already did enough of pissing on the constitution. I don't think this president will do much more damage.

And if you followed the threads here on ATS you would have found that he is not a Kenyan and that theory has been nullified. But thanks for bringing that bull # up.

Yes of course 6 billion people are all against Obama. How the hell did he win the election?

So many people, all of the United States and every other country.
