A cluster of strong 7.0+ earthquakes now numbering 4 have hit Vanuatu and the Santa Cruz Islands. Very unusual to have so many strong aftershocks
imo.

Any tsunami warnings for the area?
The last big quakes cause much damage mainly because of them.

Yeah crazy! There was a 6.7 off the Philippines too a few hours ago! Seriously, I hope this is just the entire region letting off some pressure bit by
bit, not a signal of a Big One to come!
No reports of damage or Tsunamis (Reuters), fingers crossed.

Dang what is up. The survivors must be really scared. This is really unusual to have several of that mag so close together.
Makes me wonder if the first really was an 8.1.

BBC are reporting that it is being monitored and still in effect.
A tsunami warning has been issued for Papua New Guinea and island nations in the south-west Pacific after an 8.1-magnitude earthquake off Vanuatu.
The epicentre was 373 km (232 miles) north of Santo, Vanuatu's largest island, at a depth of 33km (20.5 miles), the US Geological Survey said.
There have so far been no immediate reports of injuries of damage.
More than 170 people died last week when a tsunami triggered by an quake hit Samoa, American Samoa and Tonga.
Earlier on Wednesday, a 6.7-magnitude quake struck off the Philippines, but no tsunami warning was issued.
BBC
If anyone uses twitter etc get the word out to the people close by, or who have any relatives or freinds nearby.
Prayers for no such repition of last weeks terrible events.

If you anybody wants to monitor this on GEE, the closest working station is IU.TARA.
BHZ channel preferred.
[edit]
Actually II.MSVF might be a better choice.
[edit2]
AU.RABL too. The three stations I suggested have all about the same distance from the EQ epicenters.
