Three good reasons why I don’t buy the so-called Doomsday Predictions, featuring Nostradamus and the Mayan Calendar.
1./ Nostradamus hasn't said anything about the End of the World in 2012.
2./ The Mayan Calendar is a Calendar, not a Prophecy.
3./ nbsp; The World Has Already Ended X Times Before.
What worries me the most about these Doomsday Fear Scams, is that we tend to forget the real dangers and challenges the earth is facing as a result
of, for instance, global warming or nuclear proliferation…

2012 has all the hallmarks of a scam. What amazes me is that it almost seems in many cases that people want this to happen. Like they are trying to
wish it into existence. The most annoying part is that they put more gravity on the words of snake oil salesman and profiteers than solid evidence to
the contrary.
2012 makes it fashionable for adults to live in a fantasy world that is generally dominated by children.

Yes, I think that also. For years now Christians have been trying to bring about the End of the World and the Rise of an Anti-Christ.....they need
this to happen to make their book somewhat true. And, since the religions have a lock on government, government is forced to come up with scenarios
like Project Beam to make everyone happy. Everyone knows how cruel and mean the Israelis are, and still America and every church supports this nation
of terrorists no matter what they do. Religion can barely govern themselves, much less a Nation of people.

Star and Flag.
2012 is nonsense perpetuated more likely than not the same people who predicted the Y2K disasters...
maybe the mayan calendar predicted this sort of thing was going to happen every 12 years...

I read somewhere about the Mayan calander being made. The guy who was doing it was shot by Spaniards and killed, nobody else was allowed to touch the
calander apparently. Now is this true? God only knows, but I'd believe that over all this 2012 baloney.

Face it, amazing, ridiculous, terrifying, shocking things happen on this Earth AT LEAST once a year! Watch that 2012 will be the year the LHC finally
works, an insect, a mosquito perhaps flies into the thing, mutates into some sort of giant blood sucking beast and destroys the human race....
would we attribute this sort of foresight still, to the Mayans, or would we perhaps start to think that coincidences ARE, after all, possible?

Pretty nifty way to sell books, dvds, etc. These doomsayers are more than likely laughing all the way to the bank. Maybe if I come up with some half
baked prediction I can join in the fun. Hmm?

It might help if "ALL" of you above posters had any real clue as to what is prophecized about 2012
Maybe you should look into its real meaning before jumping to conclusions.

Oh... I mean, really?
Most of us here are AT LEAST intelligent enough not to jump to conclusions about this sort of thing... I do believe that's what sets us apart from...
you.
Have you ever considered that maybe, just maybe you're jumping to conclusions? I mean, you're basically treating 2012 - which, I might add, has not
occurred as of yet, as a fact... so tell me, who's jumping to conclusions?

For one, I didn't state my beliefs in the post. Therefore, you have no idea what I believe in.
Lets just get one thing straight. 2012 has nothing to do with "Doomsday".

Who cares man. Its all borrowed time anyway. I'd rather spend the rest of my days living life. The inability to laugh at oneself should be considered
a symptom of serious mental illness. That makes about 95% of the ATS membership certifiable.

Take a look at the interpetations of "The lost book of Nostradamus". Do I believe it? I haven't decided yet. There is one for you.
To add: I would agree with the Title of the post. I don't believe in a doomsday scenario for 2012.

Okay very true, I did jump the gun there. My apologies to you....
On the other hand however, doomsday or not, there is absolutely no way anybody can say with certainty that anything at all is going to happen in 2012.
This non-sense is perpetuated incessantly by the MSM almost as if they want all of us to concentrate our mental efforts towards figuring out what will
happen on 31/12/2012 so that we may all be distracted for a few years by the very real problems that we are facing today, and WILL be facing for many
decades to come. I'm not talking about aliens or nibiru or the annunaki or anything at all like that. I'm talking about the effects that we are
STILL feeling from the CFC's generated by many big companies (thanks mainly to DuPont) which were outright BANNED almost 2 decades ago! We are STILL
not acting on the ridiculous amount of greenhouse gases we're letting out into the atmosphere which we DO have the knowledge and technology to pretty
much FIX ALTOGETHER within the next 50 years!!!!!! It really really enrages me when things like '2012' are taken more seriously than these VERY real
problems that we face TODAY that will concern not only us but future generations!!!!!
sorry but it just really gets me angry...

I totally agree with your post. Nobody, not even me has any real idea of what it means. Sure, we have some interpertations on the matter, most which
conflict with each other.
I can think I have an idea, but that makes it only an opinion.
No offense taken, I've been around ATS long enough, that I have checked my ego at the door.
I am aslo sorry for the tone in my first post. Just wanted to make a conscise point.
Cheers

Even accepting the lost book as authentic (for the sake of argument) and not having read it, I would say automatically that Nostradamus is notoriously
bad / obscure when it comes to reliably dating any prediction, and his predictions extend well beyond 2012.
You seem to be one of the people who believe in 2012 as an ascension date, which to me is worrying as attempting to follow a spiritual path but being
told the door doesn't open until a certain date seems like a path that ultimately will lead to nowhere. Just as worrying is the belief people have
that there will be a sudden positive conscious shift in 2012, as this simply leads many to inaction, and in 2012 when such a mass visible shift
doesn't happen it will cause many good people to fall to despair.

experiments and probally try to take over and rule the planet or who knows maybe nothing will happen.
