This has probably been discussed before, but take a look at this information.

Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.

Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.

Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.

Both wives lost a child while living in the White
House.

Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.

Both Presidents were shot in the head.

Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.

Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.

Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in
1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in
1908.

John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born
in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born
in 1939.

Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.

Lincoln was shot at the theater named "Ford."
Kennedy was shot in a car called "Lincoln" made by
"Ford."

Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their
trials.

A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe,
Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn
Monroe.

Lincoln was shot in a theater and the assassin
ran to a warehouse.

Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin
ran to a theater.

This was posted on a forum that I regularly visit, and I have no reason to doubt the poster. So what do you think? Is this just a huge coincident or is it something deeper than that?

(Yeah I realize that it was posted in 2003, but someone necromanced the thread.)

Snopes elaborates on it a bit. Seems that part of it is amazing coincidence (or not) and yet other parts are just snazzed up to make the two situations sound more similar than they really were.

Interesting though and it does make you think.

I remember the first time I saw that, I was like whoa!
That's pretty wild! I had forgotten all about it until I saw it here in your thread. Thanks!

Well, Snopes do a good job of debunking. I suppose we'll have to wait to see if the POTUS gets a lead send off in 2063. Hope I'm still alive!

I first read this in a 1988 Readers Digest book called 'Mysteries of the Unexplained'.

The book cites a few other things(i may repeat things you've mentioned though):

Both men were succeeded by vice-presidents named Johnson who were Southern democrats and former senators.

Andrew Johnson and Lyndon Johnson were born in 1808 and 1908....100 years apart.

The first name of Lincoln's private secretary was John, the last name of Kennedy's private sectretary was Lincoln.

Booth and Oswald were born in 1839 and 1939....100 years apart.

A Dollar bill issued in Dallas only 2 weks before JFK was killed there,is now known as the Kennedy assassination bill.Since Dallas is the location of the 11th of the 12 federal reserve bank districts, the bill bears the letter K,the 11th letter of the alphabet, and the number 11 appears in each corner. The serial number begins with K and ends with A,standing for Kennedy assassination.Eleven also stands for November, the 11th month of the year;two 11's equal 22,the date of the tragedy. And the series number is 1963,the year the assassination occurred.

Fascinating isn't it!?

This is taken from the same book:

'Thomas Jefferson was the author of the declaration of independence, and John Adams was one of it's chief promulgators.Adams became the second president of The United States and Jefferson the third. Both men died in the same year,1826, and on the same day,the 50th anniversary of the most important day of their lives:July 4.'

There's a whole chapter on coincidences,an interesting read!
