Where are the tuts for embedding videos?

I just did a search and turned up nothing. Where do I find the information on how to embed videos from YouTube. I have tried every way possible to get a video into my post. It is not showing up in the preview.

I sure wish there was an obvious link to such information or that the instructions on the posting page were made clear as to what number is wanted when linking to YouTube videos.

search for "embedding video"

the number is the number at the end of the video's address.

For a youtube you simply copy and paste everything AFTER the ='s in the URL into the little box that appears when you hit the youtube Vid button

edit: He he - just realised there was a link in my bookmarks tool bar that was some what errrm compromising!

Can any one guess what was under the mail folder!

Take the URL of the YouTube video and copy the video id. Here's an example.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWRyj5cHIQA

The video link is the bold text.

Another example is:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVhPcc9gaEY&feature=channel_page

Again, you only need the bold text that follows 'v=' but stop copying at the ampersand '&' character. Now take the video id and surround it with [yvid] bb code like so:

[yvid]UWRyj5cHIQA[/yvid]

The result is:

Ahh OK - I usually copy everything after v='s and it still works, well you live and learn.

Thanks for the help. I am wondering why this information is omitted from the page where you upload the video.

Can anyone tell me why the edit feature does not work? I just added a whole bunch of links to an existing post of mine and they went down the black hole when I posted the edit.

If you edit an existing post, and then "preview" the edit(s), any changes made will be negated. A glitch in the matrix, if you will.

If you edit your post, then do a "preview", it wipes out your edit. As far as I know, it's a known bug.
