Am I the only Christian that thinks this means Forgiveness for everybody? Is this not what Jesus said on the cross?

What it means is this:... FORGIVE THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE IF THEY BELIEVE IN ME OR NOT!

You think God (The Father) said... "No son, they didn't believe in you so they need to burn forever"

No...

What we are dealing with is Karma. The Pain you give out in this earth is the pain you will recieve in the afterlife.

Nicely said .

However , this topic seems to always lose to the arguing of the paradigm .

To bad the context has been lost to peoples bias .

That is exactly what it meant.

When he said that then everyone on earth would have had their sins wiped away, which was the whole reason for the cruxifiction.

However, you can't be forgiven for future sins, so it doesn't apply to us any longer. That is why some still pray for forgiveness, you can't go through life thinking just because Jesus died on the cross you are automatically forgiven.

I am not a Christian, but I have read the Bible 3 times and that is what I got from it.

I would think if you didn't really want to discuss something like an adult and have some respect for someone else's right to believe what they want, then you should stay home and play legos.

Thanks for the thread Doomsday.

I wonder about forgiveness too. I always thought that I had to ASK for forgiveness. I guess God could have forgiven everyone back at the cross, but what about future generations?

Are we looking at forgiveness in relation to an afterlife, or what? Just a clean slate?

Are you saying that we shouldn't have to ASK for forgiveness because we are all already forgiven?

Doesn't the bible somewhere say that is you are ashamed of Christ, then he will be ashamed of you? If you deny him, he will deny you?

Does having forgiveness and going to heaven mean the same thing? We HAVE to be forgiven to go to Heaven, right? But do we automatically go to Heaven if we are forgiven?

Seems as though there were a couple requirements...being born again, believing that Christ is the son of God and died for our sins and came back to life...stuff like that...

so, are you separating the two...heaven and forgiveness for this discussion?

If so, then yes, Christ could have asked and received forgiveness for all of humanity at that one instant....but wouldn't that also be like a baptism of sorts? We were cleaned, and cleared of our sins, but then we sin again...because ALL sin and fall short of the glory of God.

Make sense?

And what was that pain for? What do Christians symbolize the "stripes" on Jesus' back for?

His suffering was ritualized to be our salvation.

Who was it? Paul or Peter?

one of those apostles said to Jesus that he was ready to die for him. What did Jesus do? He said that you will deny me three times.

Even as Christians we have denied Christ... over and over and over.

It doesn't mean that God won't forgive us... it only means that our torment is that much greater when we sin. I don't now about you, but i feel I conviction every time i sin... I feel tremendous guilt (porn).... Do non believers feel any remorse?

I do believe it was Paul that denied Christ when he was asked about him by persecuters..... And Christ specifically told him that he would be ...... a "Sell Out"

Look... I feel his pain in knowing that Christ died for our sins, and not acting upon it.

Every Christian is guilty of that.

Christ is the one that killed Satan.... Now the rewards in heaven?.... that's a diferent story.

Ok ok, its been removed now

And while I did find that funny, I took it as a joke, not to heart....as I do not condone putting anyone, regardless of religion etc through that kind of pain

As they should.... because they will feel conviction so strong that they will realize the emotion of Love needs something more in this world.... And that is the emotion of Forgiveness.

Can you forgive someone that kiled you?

I might not be able to, but I'm willing to try.

Ok now this thread is officially ignorant

I gather that you guys all think that muslims, jews hindus or anyone that isnt you religion should convert as they do not follow your religion.

If this is the case, id rather burn in hell than be associated with this kind of thinking
