I am a conditional pacifist...in that I know that there is a time and a place to fight but that violence should always be a matter of last resort not first...then when you do fight...fight to win or don't bother...especially if you are doing the fighting with other people's lives.

Let's all keep in mind this elitist homo is contemptuous of nearly everything the average American stands for. He feels we are all beneath him and he is above question and reproach. He decries his return to this country and wishes he was still in a 2nd world country. His ideas are baroque and his narcissistic demeanor is tiresome. If you read his essays you'll detect that he is full of self loathing. Take everything this vacuous sudo-intellectual says with a whole shaker of salt.

I wish these discussions could actually take a shape and form that was conducive to actual dialogue but they never do. Ultimately some tool like Electric Universe has to come sweeping in to make unsubstantiated, "I heard it once on Glen Beck" accusations that ultimately derail the topic. And yes I am pointing him out specifically because he was banned once, years ago, for the same types of stupidity he is allowed to get away with now. His name was Mudadaub or some such. He makes intelligent comments sometimes but if you disagree with him get a lot these bouncing smilies and a snarky reference that you are an idiot.

If dictatorship is measured by the ability of a leader to flout due process, then the US had eight years of dictatorship under George W. Bush, the world champion of presidential signing statements, the seer of the Iraqi WMD program, the king vigilante of Afghanistan and last but not least the president who renamed Congress,"Step-n-fetch-it".

The American dictatorshp is not going to be a tin-pot dictatorship. It's going to be a stupifying circus of banalities and folly and it is already well under way.

It's time Americans rediscovered due process and started to insist on it. Two generations ago Americans didn't pee in their pants every time some foreign or domestic bully mouthed off.

One nice chaotic massive scale "act" and the majority of boob tube brain washed fellow citizens will WELCOME an occupation of our streets, "THAT'S how close I feel we are. We here writing and speaking to eachother now, will be the trouble makers, the odd ones out, there will be more people turning us in than we could ever hope to protect from "the bad guys" because WE will be the bad guys in their twisted view.
It will be everyone for themselves and even divided households and families, nazi germany will look like a day at disney, unless they take our guns, and theyre sure gonna come for those soon, unless, unless, they dont have to come for them because youre already dead or theres no ammo to purchase, if 2010 is exactly, exactly like 2009, job losses , economy etc etc how do you see this country surviving through that? It wont, so whatever is going to happen, and however many "events" are going to happen, its going to happen soon.
This is the sickest Ive ever seen the mental state of this country.

If Obama were to truly try and rectify the wrongs of the previous administration he would be assasinated. Being the 1st Black president is fairly brave, but to actually be the first president to take America back is extremely brave.

Americans should be extremely wary of any sort of armed uprising because that sort of thing can easily lead to unforseen consequences worse than the causes that brought it about. Americans have the governmental tools to cure their ills, but they have to insure that the will of the majority is done.

It may take civil disobediance to make that happen, as it did during the Vietnam War era.

First of all, who in the hell is Gore Vidal? Secondly, why is an article like this under Life and Style and in the Women's section?

What good does it do to insult other posters? To feel a little bit better about yourself for a brief moment? Everyone is feeling a sort of tension; unemployment, wars and potential wars, you name it. Insulting other posters wont make you any better.

If we wanted, we could find mistakes and errors in what every president has said throughout history. They're just people. They make mistakes. Does it matter if they are red or blue? We can see there is no substantive difference in anything those in our Government do, be they Democrat or Republican.

One thing that everyone would agree on is that our country is not well or moving in direction that benefits us, the average citizen.

Perhaps if you knew how to make a proper argument, instead of resorting to personal attacks, like other members do, people like me would not respond in the same manner that members like you do.

The thing is that members like Kaytag have no real arguments to offer, hence they resort to nothing more than personal attacks and insults, and then if someone like me responds to them, and make them look like fools, they don't like it, they act as victims, and send complaints to the staff trying to suppress, or even ban members like me. It is a tactic certain people like to use.

What on EARTH makes you think that there is any difference between the two parties? Opposite sides of the same coin. Are you aware that Bush is a distant cousin of Baraq? Thru his mother, not his Kenyan father. Also Gates, and many other top officials in our govt. gang. It is called Nepotism. And they rely on foolish public thinking that they are enemies. Anyway, back to the topic, the United States is being turned slowly, but surely into a Socialist dictatorship which will be an utopia only for the elite, which will get to choose for us what we can do, what we can eat, and on the overall they will control every part of our lives.

It is true that even many Republicans in power have sold their souls in order to be on the good side of the elite, but if you look at the policeis being implemented, they are all exactly what those on the left have been demanding.

This is no insult towards people on the left, but it is the truth, and I am not the only one who has pointed this out, even a member who lived through Communism in Russia, and remembers well what the Socialist policies are about, among some other Americans who have also seen the truth of what is happening, have pointed this fact.

To people who love Socialist/Communist policies, it all looks good on paper, but the thing is that HUMANS are not ROBOTS, and Socialism/Communism tries to make people into robots, meanwhile consolidating all the power and giving it to the state. Who is in charge of the state if not the elite?

Americans need to remember why the forefathers decided to form this nation, and why they wrote certain rights, and rules to stop the government from becoming dictatorial. But the rules have been broken throughout the decades, and now more than ever the rights which have always been granted by the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights within it, not to mention the spirit of the nation, is being replaced by intrusive, and dictatorial rules which happen to be part of the Socialist agenda.

For decades Americans have been slowly brainwashed, and indoctrinated. They were even led to believe that "Socialism/Communism is an invention of the right, and there was never any threat from the Socialist/Communist agenda", but looking at every policy which has been slowly implemented into the Republic, those who have eyes to see, and can think for themselves can see the truth. Socialism is the ladder being used by the elite to get to the top, and which has ALWAYS been used by the elite, for them to consolidate power, and to control the people.

We are repeating history unfortunately, and I hope that this Socialist takeover is stopped peacefully before the people resort to violence, and in time they will do so, as it has ALWAYS been the case.

If you don't like civilian military forces, why haven't you disbanded your state's militia yet? My state's militia blew up the building in Oklahoma City.

Is it too much to ask for a little bit of creativity and originality? Choosing stylistically identical formats to McCarthy's radio broadcasts is a little obvious, don't you think? You've only slightly changed the wording.

You'll notice similarities in the manner of fallacious argument made by these people:
