Source: Bloomberg.com

McCain spent $26.5 million in the final weeks of the campaign, with $9.5 million going for advertisements, $4.5 million for message phone calls and $2.2 million for salaries. He ended up with $4.9 million in bills still to be paid. McCain also had $25 million in his legal and accounting fund, which can cover expenses incurred during a mandatory FEC audit.

Hmmm, looks like Ol' john had quite a bundle in his accounting/legal fund! I guess he didn't quite get his moneys worth if his lawyers missed Obama not being a citizen! He obviously should have hired Orly! Wonder what that 25M was for? thats a LOT of accounting, maybe for, I don't know, LEGAL EXPENSES?
Or maybe he's hiding something?

I completely agree. This is exactly why I believe that Glenn Beck won't address the rumor that he raped & murdered a girl in 1990! If he has nothing to hide, why not confront the allegations? It's not like either he or Obama has more legitimate, more important, or more responsible duties to attend.

Here's the info on Glenn Beck. I'm sure you'll find the rumor just as compelling as the one put forth by the birthers.
Glenn Beck's dirty secret?
/sarcasm off

WND should run a piece on Beck, detailing the fees he has spent on lawyers since he graduated college.

edit: DISCLAIMER Neither I, nor the creator of the linked website actually believe that Glenn Beck raped & murdered a girl in 1990.

I agree! Beck is obviously hiding a lot! He could simply put the whole thing to rest if he would address it! How much have FOX lawyers spent to cover it up?
I , as a citizen, DEMAND the right to know!

It's now currently $1.8 million according to WND but I say $2 million is more accurate.

To play the devil's advocate (and with all due respect); link it, show me this information from a non-biased external link, please.

I'm not saying I don't believe you, but I have no reason to take what you're saying at face value.

Thanks!

It's a shame really, because the issue I think most relevant and central to this 'controversy' has nothing - absolutely nothing to do with President Obama.

It's about the elite nature of the political party system that can, at their whim, disregard due process, or any inconvenient aspects of THEIR selection for candidacy. Madison Avenue tactics, and Hollywood productions don't change reality... even if they SAY they do.

The problem begins with the fact that the political party monopoly (R&D) doesn't feel they can be compelled to do anything they don't want to, like publicly vet candidates. They hid McCain's sordid past, they hid Bush's sordid past, they hid Clinton's sordid past and they are hiding Obama's past - which we can only assume is or isn't sordid, because the party doesn't care to pursue it, as long as they get the power.

These people are hiding behind Obama, and if I were him, I would be pissed at them; but then, THEY are in charge, not him. All sorts of people say Obama's this is an outrage, or Obama's that is an outrage... it's not Obama ... it's the Party ... the only reason he is there is because of the party itself.

Go after them, right now. Drop Obama complaints and start calling a spade a spade, the party is broken. It is devoted to other principles and subject to other influences... other meaning - not you, not me, not us, not anyone who actually votes. The party is an adjunct of a oligarchical corporatocracy which for all intents and purposes is transnational and devoid of any sentiment of stewardship towards America, and her children.

The truth is the truth. The problem with ignoring it is the trouble you have to go through to hide it once it's time has past.

Pathetic.

PS - I apologize if it seemed I strayed off topic...

I TOTALLY AGREE with this! All of you are being robbed blind! Yet you never seem to care, instead you fall for the propaganda!

I don't think you've gone off topic at all, and I star with only one condition - that whilst reading your post, I replaced every "The party" with "The parties". A bit of selective hearing, really, but I've a right to it.

Can you imagine a government in which political labels were abolished? One could not claim to be republican or a democrat or a conservative or a socialist or a libertarian or anything of the sort. The only thing that could be presented were the stances on all relevant issues and the character's education and professional (and legal) background.

3/4 of Americans would not know who to vote for.

Good point. I don't object to your replacement of party with parties.

I am fully aware that I am very cynical and a bit hardcore about my observations regarding the partisan aspect of things. But the truth is, we SHOULD be able to have multiple parties, and in principle there is nothing wrong with that at all.

What troubles me is the apparent ease with which these career politicians do as they wish, even going so far as to switch party affiliations just to stay in office. Seems to me that makes the labels all the more irrelevant. But then, that's just my opinion.

I genuinely feel bad for our President who - regardless of the BC issue, (or whatever) - has a job to do that shouldn't include dealing with this kind of alleged procedural discrepancy, which should have been resolved long before this point, by his own (ostensibly) strongest allies. Now, it's just another tool for partisan divisiveness and general misdirection. (And a source of revenue for a bottom-feeding media machine.)

You ARE mistaken, and I think you know it.
The various figures qouted are for legal expenses incurred during the campaign. simple no?
Just keep spouting the propaganda, unthinking and unquestioning.
Talk about EMBRACING ignorance, plenty of you do just that simply because you can't stand the thought of Obama being President. it's very sad that so many of you are such willing suckers. you just keep repeating the lies.

You are responsible for this thread, we went a whole week and a half without a birther thread and then you had to open the can of worms.

Thank you.

Thats the first I have heard of the whole Glen Beck thing. Personally I can't stand Beck, listening to him is like getting puched in the ears. Actually I would rather be punched in the ears then listen to him. It pisses me off that he calls himself a Libertarian, pfft please. Listen to Neil Boortz if you want to hear some good Libertarianism!

Now you don't have a problem with them, thats funny. Maybe you could inform me of who posted this last night after he made a thread about the birther issue.

"Hey here's an idea! Let's not rehash the entire silly "birther nonsense"!!!
Let's put it to bed! Finito! Done! Over! NO MERIT TO IT!
THAT'S ALL FOLKS!"

I believe that was you and here you are being a hypocrite. I told you last night I was going to blame you for the influx of birther threads because you broke the week and a half long drought.

I mean what I say unlike you my hypocritical friend.

edit to add- I didn't read the thread, but I know the contents and you are a the a hole who broke the ice.

What if Skeptic Overlord, Simon, Springer and Crakeur announced that you, SoupBoneDogSnake, must post your birth certificate on the board? Just you. No one else on the board is being asked to do this. What if you were singled out to be treated differently than every other member past or present? Would you happily comply?

If not, what have you got to hide?
