i thought it was common knowlege that security companies were often employed as police. they usually have a slightly different uniform.

we have them over here in the uk and have for years.

Not trying to do that just was asking. That is all...

BILLINGS - American Police Force officials showed up in Mercedes SUV's that had "Hardin Police" stenciled on the vehicles. The twist, the city of Hardin doesn't have a police department.
Two Rivers Authority officials say having APF patrol the streets was never part of their agenda. "I have no idea. I really don't because that's not been a part of any of the discussions we've had with any of them," said Two Rivers Authority's Al Peterson.

As it stands now the Big Horn County Sheriff's Department is contracted to patrol the city and APF has no jurisdiction. If that was changed Peterson says it would have to go through the city council.

As for the jail contract with APF, both sides are yet to agree to a deal as bondholders rejected it again on Thursday morning. "It's a complicated issue there are a lot of tax laws to work through we were hoping to get it by Tuesday night now we're hoping to get it by Friday night," said Peterson.

You are new here. It is common ATS manners for one members to inform other members when someone else has posted the breaking news article first... the one posted second will eventually be closed by the mods.

First come first serve.

Also the US is not like the UK. We do not have the same kind of police as you do.... Nor do we have cameras in our trash can to make sure we are recycling... the UK is a far cry different from the US....

Just FYI

Well their website (www.americanpolicegroup.com) was public long enough for it to be cached.

Can't beat them, join them.

Here's their application form.

Using this page, you can browse content they no longer want you to see, as it's been taken down following the news report.

Here's an interesting quote:

APF draws upon their vast global network of highly ranked officers and government officials providing private investigative services unparalelled to any operation in the industry worldwide....

APF has successfully provided assistance in training foreign military organizations in combating transnational terrorism, coastal/harbor patrol threat interdiction, interdicting terror activity, and interdicting weapons of mass destruction, etc.

They also seem to sell weapons

American Police Force (APF) offers the world's finest products and services to the military, police, and security professionals. We present to you our comprehensive product category list:

Um... Correct me if I am wrong but is that not against the Rules.. Like a highly bannable offense?

no it is only bannable if you talk to yourself. and my other account is no longer active. it is not against the t&c. that i have a new account to replace mine.

many people do it. some have asked to have their old ones banned/points transferred.

maybe you should concentrate on keeping to the rules yourself instead of nitpicking.

It's just Capitalism in action. See, no more socialist, government run police anymore. This should make opponents of national health care happy, since they believe the government is too incompetent to run anything.

Oh, BS, this has NOTHING to do with Capitalism......

If it is true then we better start doing something about it NOW, and not wait for more cities to become like this one.

I will wait for actual confirmation of these rumors though.

UPDATE -

The White House and "American Police Force" has announced that NO Gitmo detainees OR other foreign terror suspects will be brought to Hardin and held in the new massive facility (which was funded by American Police Force).

They refuse to say WHO will be jailed at the facility, but they are holding a job fair the third week of Oct. to give some of the locals some jobs working in the kitchen, etc.

American Police Force is a foreign mercenary group that claims the United States as its best client. They refuse to reveal where they get their funding or who actually owns the company.

They also claim to be able to deliver a battalion sized Special Forces team anywhere in the world within 72 hours.

The property they now control will be used to train special police and military for purposes they would not disclose.

According to their attorney, Mr. Masir, he is only allowed to say that their purpose "will become clearer in the future."

So you have a link?
A source would be good. I just checked with Google, there is no
White House statement about this company.

here:
Breaking News on CBS NEWS

American Police Force Corporation Takes Over Small Town Police Force and Prisoner-Less Jail

HARDIN, Mont. (CBS/AP) This is the strange story of how American Police Force, a little known company which claims to specialize in training military and security forces overseas, has seemingly taken control of a $27 million, never-used jail, and a rural Montana town's nonexistent police force.

After arriving in this tiny city with three Mercedes SUVs marked with the logo of a police department that has never existed, representatives of the obscure California security company said preparations were under way to take over Hardin's jail, which has no prisoners.
