If I was going to start a funk band, I would call myself

"Prophet Yahweh & The Super Black Men"

If I was going to start a Psychedelic Synth band I would call myself

"The Beamships"

But I would require a one armed drummer that played on garbage can lids for authenticity!

Meh... I'm hopeless at this kind of thing.

Band names...cool!

I was in a band briefly in High School. The name?: Clue Us
(because we had no clue)

Let's see: what other names would be good:

Chocolate Coma
Opposable Thumbs
Solid White Tuna

I have to get to the gym....I will think of some more there and add them when I get back.

EDIT: to add - I really like Solid White Tuna - great band name, seriously! If it was a marching band, I would call it Solid White Tuba.

Yes whaaa...cool names muchacho.

This is the best REAL band name I ever saw. I apologize if it is a bit rude...but was truly a band in the early 90s around Boston. I don't know if they are still together but they know who they are. The name?:

Analkunt

Truth is stranger than fiction. I have to apologize but I love that name. If they were around when I was 18 to 20ish, I would have probably had that written on the back of my beat up biker jacket...

They were the same genre of music as Pantera (if y'all know who they are)

I still say Solid White Tuna is a great name. If it were a hospital band, I would call it Solid White Tumor.

I answered an add on Greg's list about 3 months ago seeking older people that play instruments, write music and sing.

We meet three nights a week in different peoples homes so the neighbors don't get upset and call the police on us for being to loud.

We've grown to 8 members that play instruments and 4 that sing.

We named ourselves the Retreads.

Let me tell you, you haven't lived till you hear a band consisting of members 50 to 75 years old get down with the blues and rock and roll.

I get high as a Georgia pine just jamming with these guys and gals. We don't drink so it is pure energy mixed with years of loving music that sends chills down my back.

The Retreads.....remember that name. We may be the first geriatric rock and roll band to make it.

Never mind, our chances of living long enough to do that are a bit slim.

We really are having a jamming good time. I'll try to get a video and post it.

Rock On

I want to make a pseudohomosexual disco band called "Vitamin Stud". The band would consist of a bunch of straight guys, and we'd act overly flamboyant and people would think that we are actually gay men, though we wouldn't be at all.

Now that'd be confusing to the masses!

Yep.. They're still around. Well if they're not, there's a band out there stealing their name, although I don't remember it being spelled like that.

Their Wiki Says they started in 1988. I remember seeing them a few years ago. They are mostly for laughs, but they can play a decent guitar too.

EDIT to fix link and also state.. Yeah the wiki also says theyre from Mass.

Oh, the link doesn't work because the ATS censor deletes it... just type _C*** after the url.

gimme_some_truth...I like Statue of Misery

Santa Claus...wassup? I remember it being spelled with a K....but this was some years ago. Perhaps when they were advertising them in the Boston Phoenix or on the little cards they hand out, maybe they censored the name? Who knows..it's a mystery wrapped in an enema.

Some other good names:

Blister
Smell This
The Cheese Cutters

I always thought that a really good name would be cool...like The Velvet Underground. That is a great name and was a great band. Of course, Joy Division...another great one.

And for the guy that wants to have a "pretend" gay band. I have a great name for your band: The Colon Cowboys or perhaps The Bum Chums.

More possible names:

The Silly Little Freaks
Sahara (actually this is seriously a good one)
Frontal Lobe Movement

I still like Solid White Tuna. If it was a band of carpenters, I would call it Solild White Two-By-Four.
