More likely a reflection in the window, like the lines that go from one edge to the other (left to right in these photos).

Higher resolution versions available here.

yes it could be that's why i said possible ufo because we just don't know what it is for sure. i will say i haven't yet seen any images from Apollo that show something like that. all i can say is... it's a strange anomaly.

lots of luminosity's have been seen on the Moon so i can't rule out that possibility either.

any idea what that image number is at the top of this page ?

Hey Easynow,

I like those "reflections".

It is amazing how the light reflecting off the CSM is actually brightening areas of the lunar surface.

But the lunar surface is being brightened - there is no mistake about that.

So did Apollo 14 have a secret set of spotlights? I wonder....

[EDITED]

I am hoping someone here might know what I am talking about.

Not me. Anybody else?

The incident I'm aware of most closely fitting that description is this one:
www.ufocasebook.com...

"At approximately 6-30 a.m. on 17th March 1990, a radio ham from Baltimore, Donald Ratsch, was listening to transmissions from Discovery when he heard the following:"Houston, this is Discovery, we have a problem. We have a fire". Shortly after Ratsch claims he heard "Houston this is Discovery, we still have the Alien spacecraft under observance".A former mission specialist with NASA , Bob Oeschler conducted an intense investigation into these events and concluded that the message had in fact been broadcast from the vicinity of Fort Meade in Maryland, an area where the US National Security Agency had it's base. The NSA has long been interested in UFOs and Oeschler was of the opinion that the transmission was a deliberately set-up hoax for some intelligence purpose."

I don't know about the purpose for the hoax, but it was a hoax, even the guy who brought the transmission to light acknowledges that. The voice which said that wasn't any of the astronauts' voices, but it probably wasn't the voice of an ET either, we're not sure who's voice it was, we'll just have to call the source of the voice "the hoaxer" I guess. I'm also unsure that the source was correctly identified to any security agency, it could have been a regular ham radio operator in his garage making the "alien spacecraft" comment.

Is this the incident you were thinking of?

thanks Exuberant1,

yea i am certainly not seeing the reflection theory explaining that one to my satisfaction. we certainly need more information about it. it looks like some ufo pictures i have seen before like this one here.

of course only people that have seen light ship ufo's will or can understand the possible connection. thanks again for the reply

Hey Easynow,

Don't forget about the possibility that some of the Apollo images were faked (erm... 'simulated' - even ones from lunar orbit).

So either we have some very strange reflections that brighten the lunar surface, or Apollo 14 had secret spotlights - OR - perhaps this is a model of the moon and there was some problems with the lighting....

Ba Dunch!

Edit: Hey Easynow,

Check out this bridge-like projection/promontory I found in a Lunar Orbiter 5 shot - it is neat:

(bottom of lo5-200-h3a, near middle)

While the one on the moon is probably fully covered (if it even exists), there are similiar man-made, open-air promontories right here on Earth - complete with a Trapezoid at the end and all!:

(Cardada Switzerland)

There is alot of neat stuff in lo5-200-h3a...

Also - you'll like this find. I call it "The Censored 'Comet' over Tsiolkovsky - Apollo 12:

(This comet-looking thing is visible in the version of the image I found it in. But it has been censored from many of the other versions currently available for download)

Haha, nice ones Easy!

I edited that last post of mine to include something you might like - especially a picture from Apollo 12 showing a 'comet' leaving the moon.
