Clinton said that while in New York, she will participate in an event with U.N. Secretary General Ban Kimoon, hosted by the United Nations and the
U.S. government, to highlight the need for greater cooperation worldwide on the growing challenge of food security.
Food security refers to the availability of food and one's access to it.
Clinton went on to outline a few of the basics of the initiative, which includes providing aid for research and better seed for farmers in
developing regions, and innovations to better connect small farmers to marketplaces. She said it was perhaps the most ambitious plan regarding both
diplomacy and development the US had yet undertaken to bring aid to foreign nations.
