Suspicious Package Shuts Down Mass. Ave. Washington, DC

A suspicious package has shut down Massachusetts Avenue in northwest Washington as police investigate.
The package was found near the Islamic Center of Washington in the 2500 block of Massachusetts Avenue.
The road is closed in both directions.
Traffic is very heavy in the area.

Heard about this while listening to the Police scanner but thought it was related to the report of a chemical odors at a police station (see www.abovetopsecret.com... ) But that turned out to be nothing more than diesel fumes

Now this package at Mass Ave is interesting. It is breaking news so not much know yet. Could be a huge explosive device but more likely it will be an old shoebox with some kids toys in it or something. But still, a good reason to join me on the police scanner

A suspicious package that shut down Massachusetts Avenue in northwest Washington has been cleared by police as posing no threat. The bag contained everyday items such as clothing.

edit to add: so with the diesel fumes and the bag full of cloths, Washington PD has a busy morning
