They are a public school with very liberal values. Kids aren't forced to go to this school, though the entire district appears to have very liberal values as well.

Personally, although I know it offends many here, I believe that the teacher was acting within the spirit of the school.

Does this district have vouchers for those who cannot afford to pay for the public school and to send their kids off to a private school? How about allowances for home schooling or private tutoring?

For most of the people living in most of the country their kids are de facto forced into public schools.

Hunka I think you are correct.

It runs deeper than just the teacher. I think its not intentional but more misguided in what they were trying to do. We now have both sides, becoming so far over the top with either --- weird songs of lore about a sitting president and the other side screaming NAZISM!!!!!! Just gets old.

This is why my argument runs deeper to include such things as the Pledge of Allegiance. Just a bit baffled by nearly all of it

Kids are forced to go to school. Oh yes.. If the children do not attend the parents will be fined or arrested or both.. students can also face truancy charges.

Public school education is mandatory in the US...

I work in one of the largest K12 school districts in Missouri.....not as a teacher....so you can rest assured, I have no vested interest in defending what is in the curriculum.

Your comments are "over-the-top" and hysterical hyperbole.

Wow...this is disgusting. This is just proof of how warped some school teachers/school's are...Unfortunately they teach their loony beliefs on their students. The teacher is clearly the antagonist here but I'm sure she's not the only one. This is why I have no faith in the education system in this country and think its an epic fail.

Here to me is what is heartbreaking, watching that video, pretty much every race is covered in those children. Black, white, indian, mexican (i didnt see an asian but maybe). Barrack Obama never told these kids to get along they dont know Racism they were all one classroom together no race. What happens when the kid goes home and tells his/her parents? He/ She may be treated to a tirade of racial prejudice based on what they were forced to do. Or since this is the internet age what happens in 3-4-10 years from now when the kids see that they were forced to do these things? If we as a human race will ever have racial equality we will have to have the same doubts and apprehensions FREELY of a man of any race. Until i can doubt the mexican, asian, black, indian, whatever, until i can doubt them the way i doubt white men we are not living in a fair society.
If I speak ill or doubt a bill/legislation Obama has done im a racist. But doesnt that make the person judging me a racist, because they are assuming bad things about me based on my race. The cylce doesnt look liek its gonna break soon.

If this is indeed a public school, then this is getting out of hand.

If it is private, well then that is apparently what you are paying for?

It's funny though, I remember moving to South Dakota back in 5th grade and having to stand up and say the pledge. I remember talking to my new classmates about how dumb this is, but everyone looked at me like I was crazy.

I have never been interested in having to "pay my respects" to some sort of "idol"

In the end, perhaps in public schools at least, we need a new education czar or put an end to whatever we have going right now. I guess in this instance I like RP's idea of letting the local community govern schools as long as you dont have to learn like 90% farming in South Dakota or something like that down the line etc..

I have read the communist manifesto and I don't find any similarities here. Although I object to children being taught to praise any given person, the ideas of equal pay for equal work are *not* socialist. If anything, feminist comes to mind. Different pay for different work is allowed there.

Also, all colors equal on his sight? Do you think children should be taught to discriminate instead? Nothing sinister about that part of the lyrics in my mind.

In fact, all the lyrics, except for the name "BHO" are principles that I think children should learn: Compensation based on the quality of your work, and equality for all colors. If anything, equality is anti-affirmative action isn't it?

Does anybody here honestly thinks that some people deserve to be paid more for the same work than others?

What? Are you even a US citizen? YES Kids that attend that school MUST ATTEND THAT SCHOOL If not they will be counted absent to many absences and the Officer will go to the childs home to ask about it.
