Did anyone see an explosion of threads here on ATS with so-called rods, together with the appearance here of the user "Johnbro"? I wonder what documentary regarding rods will be released soon, so it needs some publicity. Or..ATS learned me one thing: to be paranoic

well... see my bugs:

Here it is:

BUGS or BIRDS. USSUALLY BUGS

...and technical phenomenons regarding capturing images.
...and people not knowing those technical stuff.

Bugs filmed during the day.
Bugs can appear long and short.
Bugs can appear white or black. (depending on ilumination and bacground brightness)
Bugs can appear colored or translucid.
Bugs can appear moving straight or doing fast turns.
Bugs are a very likely occurence. Just 2 holidays not hunting them and i have already a big collection.

I don't like bugs.

But here they are:

Damn those BUGS. It really can puzzle your brain...

p.s. all the animations are slowned down at half or third of real speed, because using GIF format.

I have a ton of footage of rods which I taped off TV and every example is of distant objects not near the camera lens or inside the camera!
How do you know they are distant? I don't think you have any idea how far away an object in the sky is with no reference points.

That video link you posted sure looks like a bird to me, it just wasn't filmed with a high speed camera.

There is not only something wrong with your mind but your eyes as well. You speak without knowledge.

So I ask you how you know the objects are distant and you reply with an ad hominem attack? That does little to support your position.

Here's a challenge for you, show me a rod video made with a high speed camera running at 1000 frames per second, like the video I posted above. The rods will be revealed as something other than rods when recorded with a high speed camera, just as that video shows. If you have a 1000 fps video of a rod, then please show it. If you don't, then I suggest you re-watch the MonsterQuest video again so you can understand why you need video from a high speed camera to convince anyone rods are anything other than birds, bats or bugs.

I know I'm piling on but it has been common knowledge that these are insects, mainly moths. The people who take these photo's are hoaxers. They lie to get attention I suppose. He probably got the idea from another hoaxer on the Internet. Just look up "Rods".

Either that or they are really really thick

Rods are old news.....wouldve been more convincing if he just made a CGI

On History Channel they proved this "rods" are not what they seem to be. They used a regular camera and one of those 1000 frames per second cameras. And when a "rod" appeared flying in front of the regular camera, you could see an insect on the special camera.

PROVEN: They are regular insects flying or even birds, but their movement can't be recorded properly by regular cameras because they move too fast.

RODS DO NOT EXIST. SEE THE VIDEO AND BELIEVE IT!

You said: "I don't think you have any idea how far away an object in the sky is with no reference points." You're judging my mental capacity; not kosher.

You said: "That video link you posted sure looks like a bird to me, it just wasn't filmed with a high speed camera." You positioned yourself as knowledgeable about the equipment used, which you are not. FYI, a professional ENG videotaped the rod and he didn't use a consumer-grade camcorder.

OK then enlighten me, how many frames per second was the video shot at?

Just because the camera isn't consumer grade doesn't make it a high speed camera by the way, professional grade TV cameras can record rods too. I may not know the exact model of equipment used, but I am knowledgeable in recognizing artifacts related to moving objects filmed with video cameras at normal shutter speeds, so I based my comment on that knowledge and experience. For example I can also tell if somebody posts a video of a fuzzy donut shaped object floating by, they probably used a reflector style telephoto lens even without them telling me they used a reflector telephoto lens. So you don't always need to have equipment details to make observations about the video produced.

And what about my challenge to produce a rod video filmed with a high speed camera running at 1000 frames per second? Have you got one?

Did you watch the monster quest video?

Thanks for the more civil reply this time by the way, there's no need for ad hominem attacks.

Don't waste your time with little Ed there

He has a thing for instigating. For evidence of that just look through his posts. You're better off ignoring the person. All he'll do is come back and nitpick your post to death.

He's just trying to get a rise out of you. Don't fall for it.

Thanks for the advice.

I asked if he watched the monster quest video, because if he's seen that and he's still not convinced he needs a high speed camera, then I agree there's not much point in trying to debate the subject further, it should be pretty obvious.

Oh, god here we go again.

Rods are Camera Artifacts of known flying creatures - that can include both birds, bats insects etc.

The artifact or illusion is basically a multiple exposures in one frame of video.

The monster quest video pretty much explains it all.

End of story.
