Yeah, they say it was a Magnitude 3.0 but it felt bigger than the one earlier this year. Probably due to being only a couple of km's away from the epicenter.

There were actually 3 distinct tremors separated by a few seconds each. They have the times wrong on the site too!

Hang on 0km depth???

Is that just because they have not crunched all the available data yet?

Cos to me a quake with a 0km depth can only mean 2 things, 1) A nuke

or of course the obvious 2) Brontosaurus hip hip dance off

are quakes indicative of increased volcanic activity?

we got quakes goin in melb indonesia and over in nz recently
i have heard that volcanos at locations in between quakes can be affected??

there are many ancient quakes along the east coast of australia. and especially one up in north queensland which is well overdue

Australia is "well overdue" for a significant volcanic eruption, but the risk of explosive action from a new volcano is higher in Queensland, according to the country's leading geologist. Melbourne-based geologist Associate Professor Bernie Joyce yesterday made public predictions of an impending volcanic eruption in Far North Queensland, where 380 dormant volcanoes rise from the landscape.

Hey there dallas18

I live in the South East of South Australia and thought you might be interested in the fact that we got the very same volcano warning from the very same geologist on our local news last night.
The story, it seems was just modified to refer to our local area. Seems it was either a slow news day in Oz or they know something we don't or it is just fearmongering.

Cheers

It is strange that the USGS only report one quake at 08:20GMT/UTC (which I guess is about 5pm over there near Melboure?) on the 22nd at lat/long -38.2 long 145.3 magnitude 3.0

I wonder why they only reported one, and not two - if there were two?
I believe that a zero depth means up to 10km deep.

The Prof has been saying that for years. No one took him seriously back then so once it's gone and forgotten that will be it .....until next time......
