Really? It's exactly me you're referring to? Wow, I feel special. Surely I'm allowed to ' wonder what is up with Fox news' without angering
anyone?
Okay, okay, I'm not starting a fight, apologies if my posts come off as mean or personal.
But,
" Well I would like to see what you find so offensive and or laughable?"
Well, it's just that rather than being news (supposedly unbiased with straight facts) Fox is more about bullying, belittling, being purposely
awkward, playing on fear, etc. To me, it seems that Fox should not be calling itself news; - rather, it should be classed as an opinion
channel/show.
Bear in mind that I'm going on the five or so minutes that I used to watch every few months - it's not like I have an indepth knowledge of it. I do
know that if you asked the anybody that I know (old or young, left or right wing, American or Scottish) they'd be saying the same thing. It seems to
be more of a joke than anything else.
Some of the videos here portray that very well.
Now, as for the TV licence we have over here - I'm not so cool with it. In my opinion, you should have the choice; - if you want to watch BBC
channels then sure, go ahead and pay for that licence. If you don't want BBC channels, then I feel that there should be an option of whether you get
access to them or not. Therefore, if you don't want them, you shouldn't have to pay a tv licence.
However, the licence came from way back when the BBC were the only channels we had in this country and in order to fund it, they needed to charge.
(also, they have no adverts during shows). I can understand this and it seems fair enough. These days, however, we have a plethora of channels to
choose from that the TV licence does not pay for and if you don't watch the BBC that often then it does seem like the BBC are cheating abit.
This may be a little off topic, I'm not sure but we're talking about Fox/News Channels/ TV Licences, right? And you're probably already aware of
this but did you know that the UK Government are seriously considering creating a Computer Licence?

The BBC is a public service but unlike other public services is not controlled by the government,. I would rather put my faith in the BBC than
anything controlled by Murdoch, or advertisers.
Two thirds of European countries have tv licence fee.

This is truly amazing. I get reports here in America that the British citizen's rights, customs, and heritage, has been trumped by the will of all
the Moslem immigrants who have overran, "Great" Britain. And you can be critical of American News stations?
Wow.....just, wow!
How much longer will Muslim shara law even permit you the freedom to watch anything?
Of course you do, its from the small minded misinformed bigots who would love a British version of Fox News. Pay no attention, everything you have
said is false.

I would think a bigot to be someone who can only see things one way. The freedom to choose rather than others choosing for you, should be a basic
human right if one considers themselves, civilised.
What I have said is not false. there are at least one other thread started here on ATS concerning that very issue and there are more than just a few
news rooms saying this.

oh crud I saw this like two years ago. I can't find it, all I get is hits for Meghan Fox. I guess we know what people's priorities are. XD
I am guilty of PWS, posting while sleepy, and forgot to specify that this is outside of partisan watching. And some people watch because Fox uses the
latest technology, glitz and glamour. In other words, they have cool toys.
There is a higher percentage of left that watches fox news then there is right of watching left news. What the people said when asked why is because
they were waiting to see what they are gonna say next. Basically the same people watch Howard STern, even though they can't stand Howard Stern. I
wish I could find it, it was an interesting article.

Now doing my research, I did come across this page, apparently there is a movie exposing Fox news. It is basically a lengthy version of what Jon
Stewart does.
I really suggest you watch the trailers.
Why anyone watches O'Reilly is beyond me.
I don't believe we should not have right media. By all means we should. Just not garbage like Fox.
outfoxed
The part where Hannity cuts off the guy and tells him he is a national disgrace and uses the race card because the guy said there is a small fraction
of police officers who discriminate is just absolutely abhorrent.
edited to add something.
I do sheepishly admit sometimes I watch Fox n friends in the morning. I check local headlines for any catastrophes and turn to something lighter.
Unlike other groups they tend to be more jovial and downright funny sometimes. I don't want anyhting heavy first thing. Untill they start trolling
and vitriol and then I change the channel. Then I listen to NPR for the news.

I love the fact that some Americans are slagging off the license fee and saying the Beeb is state-owned media! In this country state-owned actually
means "owned by the people" and although it may have a slight left-wing bias the BBC will criticise the government of the day (as illustrated by the
excellent Paxman vs Howard video posted earlier). Also, the BBC actually reports the news, unlike the US news networks which just broadcast a
bunch of talking heads with extreme agendas.
I said US news networks but that's not true. The US doesn't really have news networks, just PPN's - Partisan Propaganda
Networks. And you eat it up, whether left or right wing! Then you wonder why the rest of the world thinks you all mental! Is it really that
difficulty to see why?

I think the thing about Fox or American news channels in general are that they are overly dramatic and seem really cheesy and over the top compared to
British news (i can't speak for other European news).
Because of that it seems kind of amusing. I am not sure why. I don't mean i sit their roaring at the tv, i mean it gets a chuckle sometimes.

Yes my friend, i have read these too. Conjecture and rhetoric is all very good. The fact remains that Sharia Law is not in place in the United Kingdom
of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and nor will it ever be.
If you need me to tell you this again, let me know.

Well, let us not turn this into a US/UK pissing contest shall we?
As it happens, Sharia law does not have a legal footing in the UK justice system, however it does take place within localised communities, however -
not legally but by practice of their communities and enforces as such... I can't think of a decent US equivalent, but do the Amish have such a
thing?
Anyway - back to the topic please gentlemen, it is so tiresome to see interestin threads get derailed by patriotism, wherever it comes from and no
matter how good the intentions.
