My point being:

Why is race all of a sudden taboo here?

BTW....I can not type 'n-word' without the censors going berzerk.

But I can surely type FAGGOT in big bold letters for everyone to see?

Pease give me a break.

Maybe I'm just just bitter since I was recently beat up and my nose broken by 2 'n-word's for the simple reason of being a faggot.

See how even the censors here are biassed?

Isn't that assumed?
If someone disguises their racism, how else can one label them racist without making an assumption? Especially on a forum which is text based, we can't view an individuals hidden intent without assuming something on some level.
I agree with you otherwise, racism should not be a part of ATS. But I would also hate to see the thought police come in and assume racism when it may not be there to begin with.

Its an incredibly fine line, some see a topic as racism simply because they feel offended about the truth of the topic.
Some cry racism when they realise their side of a debate has fallen over.

Envy level = 0 for ats staff.

Racism, should never be tolerated, but simply by you stamping down on it means your going to be labelled racist too. AS RR proved.

Then again, people sign up for this site because its like no other, and its because of these rules and restrictions you implement, that makes it like no other, a cut above the rest.

If people love this site as much as I, then im sure they can hold their tongue, and go post in other sites about racist topics.

As for Obama…

Bush is white
Obama is black

Both are hated. How is that racist?

I believe this should be the bottom line here.

Why is it now "rascist" to critisize?

I used to get beat up for being a FAT KID in Grade School, it's sick, and it's sad, and I understand where you are comming from completely. Don't get me wrong, I just don't think a sexual preference is anything but individual sexuality, it doesn't belong in the political arena IMO.

There's an inherent danger into buying into this whole racism issue though, for one, it's often used to repress legitimate opposition, and there has to be some kind of line drawn otherwise we're going to be called biggots by BDSM folks or get sued by herpetologists for snake hating.

Why in the hell can't we star posts in this forum?

There must be a conspiracy.

ahhhhhhh, life on earth. sometimes it seems this planet would have been better off if that one human had'nt been bred. here we are a group of beings who for the sake of greed (as it has always been) needed to create a lower caste in order to make them produce goods for the enrichment of a select few. just about every religion has been used to forward and quietly cajole this practice. now some million years later we still argue the same thing. "one X guy did this so their all like that!". simple pure ignorance in it's ugliest form. i never in all my years would have ever considered america electing a black guy as president. that says quite a lot about the mass spirituality of america. sure there are those who for whatever reason, real or ignorant will fight fight and fight but i must admit i am proud of america as a whole. i too am a mutt. german, irish, scottish, native american and african. my family reunions are from nordic white to chocolate brown. we are all simply humans of this planet with no reason to waste time on such sillyness. thank you for this thread.

I don't know what there is to debate here?

Them'z are the rules, and agree or disagree doesn't matter. I do think (as always) its the naughty few who ruin it for everyone else scenario.

But I'm quite sure the owners of ATS wouldn't have taken this move lightly. And I support stamping out ignorance in all its ugly shapes and forms.

No debate from me, just BIG

You are correct. Yes, there are people who are truly racist and who think their race is superior to others. Most people on ATS are not like this and are having their opinions silenced because the race card is being used against them whenever they pose a question that challenges the belief of others.

The idea of identifying racism through analysing political criticism IS purely speculation in most cases and is a dangerous threat to true freedom of speech. Whether anyone wants to admit this is another matter. In these cases, racism becomes racism in the eye of the beholder.

Just out of curiosity though, does this 'new' policy of stamping out biggotry mean people are going to have quit calling other members a 'truther' now? This question was simply ignored on the other thread, but I can't imagine a better example of stereotyping and biggotry, or does this just apply to race and religon?

I guess I'm just confused why everyone is preemptively up in arms about this?

The really obvious examples of racism are...well...obvious.

So if the ownership does not want that specific view represented, and anyone has a problem with that, I'm sure there are plenty of other locations on the internet were such views may be more freely expressed.

And unless I start seeing the rule applied to actual examples which are 'less clear', I see no point in wallowing in what amounts to nothing more than the tiresome drama of accusing a private website of unfair treatment.

My $0.02.

Could you then please define what racism is? So far you have stated what it is not. I keep asking the same question, but nobody is willing (or able) to do so.

It's like the old quote about pornography. I can't remember who this
is attributed to, a supreme court justice perhaps but it goes like this:
"Sir, can you tell me what pornograpy is?" The answer:" I can't define
it for you but I know it when I see it."

I'm sure that will clear things up for you , it certainly did me.

Yes, it's very annoying that racism is considered so much worse than other forms of prejudice.

Well, certin ethnic groups have made it a way of life to counter all criticism, personal shortcomings and just about anything else you can think of, with cries of "racism".

It's not beyond the pale for a guy who spent 20 years attending a Black Power church (Black Liberation Theology is racist) to have his minions cry racism.

I hate the haters .

Is that a form of inverted racism ? It is not their race/creed /nation I abhor , just their agenda.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

*But, Kameuh, what are you some kinda racist?*

Of course not, however, it will be interesting to see the long term reprecutions of anti-racism enforcement.

The majority of ATS users have no desire to witness a slide into a liveleak or youtube type mentality and blatent racism should be snuffed out harshly.

Hopefully the mods can remain impartial enough to find that fine line between cracking down on stupid people, and disallowing perfectly valid opposing points of view.

It's if the mods cannot find that line, and constantly stifle opinions that disagree with their own (in the name of "racism"), ATS will diminish into just another partisan website for the adherents of a particular brand of groupthink.

I don't encourage racism and I do enjoy reading a great discussion (thus the few posts in many odd years), but if the mods abuse their new ability to thump the stupid, and begin thumping people simply for having a different political philosophy, the discussion will end. The racism will remain.

I've seen it happen on a different board. A once vibrant community became 5 or 6 people with the rest of the people leaving for different websites. And those 5 or 6 posters, just happen to share the same political leanings as the mods.

GL mods, I wish you the best, but please don't go overboard.

I am very glad to see you come out so strongly on this matter!

I was not aware of this being a problem on ATS, but needless to say I am not reading all the posts.

I have never found any race-based argument to be worth the paper (or hard disk space) it is written on. I see absolutely no reason to indulge in such arguments on a site like this.

I was totally aware of the problem and thought that ATS was turning a blind eye to it...

I am SO glad to be wrong...

WELL DONE ATS
