On March 13, President Obama nominated Maryland civil rights lawyer Thomas J. Perez for the post of Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Rights Division of Department of Justice. Six months later, Perez — currently Secretary of the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation — is being held up by Republican holds. Is there a double standard here?

The Republicans seem to call Democrats--especially the president--every sort of name, from Nazis to eugenicists to plotters to kill the elderly, to liars, to Stalinists, to Marxist communists, to saboteurs, to Un-American, to traitors, to foreign-born pretenders to citizenship, and the list goes on and on.

But this guy uses the word "xenophobe" and they hold up his appointment?
