I am currently working on my second PHD in the anthropology field, first being genetics, my new PHD is in ancient mesopotamian studies focusing on the sumerians. I have some experience doing ethnographys though outside of the east. Last year I did work with the peace and justice system here in memphis, in that experience I worked with many rape victims and I asked them as part of my ethnographic report "Would you or any other woman you know who are also victims use violence or rape fantasies to cope with your situations" and the second question was "Now have you ever personally used sexual fantasies for self medication, and are those fantasies violent in nature". The resounding answer to both of my sex questions was "Yes"

I find this very hard to believe. I've always heard that rape victims have nightmares, often can be mentally scarred for up to life, and are terrified of reliving the experience.

Is your caps lock key broken?

Writing all in capital letters just makes it harder to read. It might stand out more but most people will just skip over it.

Even if these "rapes" arn't real. They are certainly encouraging something that

should not be encouraged. These sites should be banned and I cannot believe

that these things are happening. I watched an episode on "Oprah" that

discussed parent raping their children on chat sites??? What the hell is wrong

with you sickos!?!? If I had to catch such a person they would wish they were

dead!

First, even if governments and service providers held hands, there’s no way to censor the internet from illegal content.

Second, there’s a drastic difference between one’s morals/ethics/opinions/ideas and actual LAWS … just because one may want something to be illegal does not make it so.

Third, unless you’re the one living in a “fantasy,” thought-crime does not exist. Nobody cares what’s going on in your head so long as it stays in your head so please have the decency to leave what’s in mine and everyone else’s heads alone in return.

Fourth, rape, torture, assault, abuse, murder, etc. has been “simulated” in motion pictures, paintings, sculpture, etc. since each of those ART forms have existed.

Fifth, if you’re fired up, calling newspapers and police departments, over rape videos, even if they’re real, then boy oh boy have you been protected. There’s stuff out there that may lead you down the Oedipus route. What has been seen cannot be unseen anyone?

Lastly, this reminds me of the debate where folks claimed that drawing, yes drawing with a pencil and paper, a crime, is actually a crime in itself.

P.S. sorry for the wordiness, I’m in a hurry!

When people will stop to do atrocities such as this, i will regain faith in humanity, meanwhile i´ll make sure they stop doing this type of things.

If i find one of them...

May I just make it clear I am not in favour of censorship.

I am however against incitements to violence, and also real rape / violence videotapes being broadcast on the internet.

The site in question had total global internet traffic of 0.88% last night (close to 1 in every 100 people out of total global internet traffic were on the one site where people can put what the hell they like up there for others to watch, hosted by a "multi million pound corporation") 99% of the material on the site is legal, less than 1% - over 500 video recordings, are illegal.

I stopped reading on page 1 to type this, but will go back and finish. I just wanted to say to the people saying women who have been raped would never turn to rape fantasies....

Well, you're quite simply wrong. I have had 2 ex's who were raped before I met them, they both got off on that. They never flat out said " I want you to simulate raping me" but they did want to be tied up, smacked around talked down to and all that.

Also I worked at a porn store, I can tell you DEFINATLY FAR more women enjoy the bondage/rape stuff than men. And to the person who said they doubt that many women even watch porn at all, grow up. Women are freakier than dudes are, hands down no contest. They are jus WAY better at hiding it.

Edit: Just finished readin the rest and I gotta say... wow.

I mean, if you really believe these rape videos are real, that's one thing. but to the people who know it's fake, but still think the people who watch it are evil and disgusting and should be.. what was it... chemicaly castrated? Wow oh wow.

I guess I should march myself to the electric chair for watching all the violent movies I do. not to mention the violent video games where I am the one controlling the violence!! Wtf is wrong with me?? I'm sooo evil.

Seriously?

I don't watch rape videos, but DAMN people. Just becuase you don't like something, that makes people who do, wrong?

I can't wrap my mind around the ignorance of the people on this site. I mean.. it's freakin fake people, it's movies. you dont get all bent outta shape when vin deisel shoots somebody do ya? OMG he's advocating murder!!!

What a bunch o' loons.

Oh and sorry for the bad grammar, it's late, I'm tired and don't really care about it. you all know what I'm saying so it's good enough.

But Daily you don’t have any evidence. If you are really concerned find out where this site is hosted and contact the local authorities, but my bet is that if this site is really as popular as you say then people have already done it and the authorities have found nothing illegal.

There are groups that look for this kind of stuff every day and to think that they have missed one of the most popular websites on the internet (as you claim) is highly unlikely.

The site contains real rapes, which was labelled as "Real Rape".

Furthermore, on the internet, there are websites now where you can upload murders, and then these can be watched by anyone.

And no one does anything about it. No law enforcement, nothing, the sites are just left to grow bigger and bigger, uglier and uglier, and more and more violent.

Out of curiosity, has anyone else thought that the human race is running backward? That our way of life is more demented and corrupt than it was say, 30 years ago? That we as a species have reached the pinnacle of humanity and are now in the reverse (spiralling down the drain) position of spiritual and physical evolution?

There are some sicko's out there who garner pleasure from the pain and dominance of others and their kind is gaining ground on the rest of us.

Have you not considered that they might be lying. The Blair Witch Project was advertised as being real but it wasn’t. Just because it’s labelled as real doesn’t mean it is. It’s just what people do to heighten the fantasy.

If these were real why would law enforcement be doing nothing? Can you access this site via Google? If so why aren’t they blocking the site when they do with others that host illegal content?

Have you contacted local authorities? What have they said to you? Have you contacted independent groups like the Internet Watch Foundation? What have they said?

I have contacted the police 4 times about the sites stating that one oligopoly site shows people being murdered etc, and that the other site network includes material of people being raped, crying, screaming etc.
I have requested a consultation with them, and my first request was over 6 weeks ago, but they still have not got in touch.

The first time I went to the Police, December 2008, the lady police officer did not seem to understand the illegality of the site serving up exploitative pornography.

The IWF last time I spoke to them, claim to be powerless to act.

I have contacted the ISP provider of the site where people were shown being murdered, and they sent an email back saying it wasn't their problem, and passing the buck to another organisation.

So while websites are being blocked and shut down left right and centre for illegal content like that which you describe this one somehow manages to continue despite being known to everyone? Does that not suggest that you might be wrong about the legality of what is hosted?

The problem is they are not being shut down though !

The police officer told me the first time I saw her (before requesting a meeting with another officer) - "unless it's 'child porn' we're unlikely to act"

The longer these sites think they can get away with this, the bigger they will get, and they're very large organisations already. Even the organisation beaming the real life murder to internet viewers - these are not fringe sites, these are big operations, and what they are doing is very depressing, illegal, immoral, warped and deranged.

Well I watched a video last week that shocking. It had people been killed in it, tortured, raped. Pulp Fiction.
At no point did I feel like phoning the police to report Quentin Tarantino.
Whilst watching it, I could have turned the DVD off at any point, so I had a small amount of control over what happened.
After watching it, I did not feel like going out and getting a Royal with Cheese, doing coke, shooting people, torturing or rape!
Good film though, and not the first time I've watched it

As for Real, well 'The Blair Witch Project' was marketed as real.

The specific websites you are talking about might not have been shut down but plenty of websites do get shut down or blocked on a daily basis.

There is just no reason to believe that these videos (the rape ones) are real, it’s just your word and the fact that whoever posted them says they’re real. The fact that no one is doing anything despite knowing about them strongly suggests that they’re fake. Groups like the IWF have made much greater fuss over none events like an album cover on wikipedia let alone a website hosting rape videos.

The websites that show death are real though there are none where you will find a murderer going out, killing someone and then posting the video for all to see. The videos that are on these sights are news footage, war footage, surveillance footage and other such things. They’re gruesome and arguably sick but not illegal.

I can name a bunch of high traffic websites that feature “murders” or similarly vile content right on their front page.

Case in point, L.L. – full name withheld – is a reputable outlet of free speech that’s been featured on and directly cited by CNN. It’s available to, as you said, “anyone,” anywhere in the world, and thrives due its lack of censorship. One of the “featured” new videos today on L.L. is the 6+ minute brutal murder of a middle-aged woman. Less than 24-hours later, it’s already surpassed 55,000 views and 400 comments.

Now you have the right to crusade for censorship on the internet, just realize that countless hordes have been there, done that, and ended up at square one because no LAWS back them. No matter how many letters you write or phone calls you make, don’t expect any results tilted in your direction.

P.S. A simple Google search yielded a whole litter of sites whose sole purpose is selling simulated rape videos. Would you like me to PM you the domains so you can contact each and every one?

What you fail to relise is your not debating the same issue, if you did a poll here and asked how many people like rape porn you would most likely have a 100% zero.

What you are trying to argue with these people about is weather you have the right to tell ANYONE what is and isnt ok as long as they are consenting adults and the acts are legal and that argument you will never win, especially here.

i am sure there are things you like and values you have that i would find weird or distastefull but you know what ? if your not hurting anyone nor yourself i have nothing to say about it. period.

people really need to quit forcing there own beliefs and standards on others.
