What's with all the pop-ups? I feel like I'm on a porn site. Seriously.

At various places on the website, I see the message in various places that this site is 'advertising supported' but hey -- are you folks trying to put 100 kids thru college on the back of ATS? Sure does seem like excessive greed. It's damaging the viewing experience of visiting ATS.

If you're seeing more than two pop-ups in 24 hours while on ATS and not logged-in as a member, then they're not coming from us.

We deliver pop-ups on some pages to guests, but never at a frequency higher than twice in 24 hours.

For some reason, this caught my attention. My response isn't aimed at ATS policy - I am not in a position to comment on that. Personally, I feel ATS has a very conservative policy with regards to advertising. However, I would like to address this as a general webmaster response.

1) Who is to say a website is non-profit?
2) Have you ever actually checked how expensive website hosting is for large traffic sites?
3) Would pay for premium service be more to your liking?

I am just curious what your personal experience with websites are, because this site is tame when compared to main stream news sites, gaming sites, etc.

As has been clearly explained, no more than two every 24 hours.

You also get immunity to ads completely after a while as a member with a certain combo of stars flags and points, you also become immune to ads for a short time period (12 hrs ?) after being logged in continuously for 2 hours i think..
