Washington Post: Black only event calls protesters racist

As a black man(raised on the teachings of Malcolm X, The Black Panther Party ect.) I would like to point out that this is not the view of most blacks. Many black people that I know(I live in a mostly black area) realize the bigger picture when it comes to Obama We have been saying for years that the White Man (The Illuminati, not all whites) wants to keep minorites and poor people down. Obama has done nothing for the black community since he has been in office except for telling us to toughen up (which is ironic after hundreds of years of slaver which we are merely a few genenerations from). This comes to no surprise to most blacks which have been played by every single presidential candidate that pledged to help the black community. Obama is no different and those of us who are not slaves to the media realize this. This is just another way that the mainstream media wants to divide the races. By portraying the protesters as racist(some are..where were they when Bush was in office? But that beside the point), the media effectively widens the gap between races as many whites take offense to this accusation because many have legitimate problems with the administration. PLEASE ATS DON'T GET CAUGHT IN THE HYPE OF "REVERSE RACISM". It is just the media manipulating the minds of the public. Black people have been saying it for years that the man is running things and white people are just not starting to wake up so please stop the dividing we need to come together!!!

How fitting that the people they interview come from a black only event called "Black Family Reunion".

Wouldn't they want to interview a group who had their reunion disrupted by folks carrying poster of Obama with a hitler moustache and in clown face???

The ability to be oneself without being looked at in a negative light. Its a viscious cycle. Blacks are never FULLY accepted into the white community (no matter what anyone says). Therefore seek acceptance among blacks. The image of blacks has been molded by the media for hundreds of years as being cool, tough, musically and physically talented, and dumb. If you seek to go outside of your back box, you are ridiculed by blacks, and never fully accepted by whites. Whites on the other hand, have the freedom to think for themselves and be themselves without necessarily being looked at strange. Hope I put that in a way thats easy to understand.

this post is teeming with ignorance. Obama was raised by all whites and had virtually no ties to the black community until college. Michelle stated that she was "finally proud of her country". Can a parent love their child without being proud of them? Obama is not the one pulling the strings, only a puppet.

The problems of black inner city ghettos definitly stemmed from the hundreds of years of slavery that the white man implicated. You make a whole race of people slaves for hundreds of years, don't them a chance to even learn how to read, and then expect them to be fully functional members of society in only a few generations with virtually no help? It doesn't work that way. Whites created the monster now they must live with it.

The biggest instigator has been the media, as well as some in the Democrat establishment. In many cases, they've gone out of their way to dismiss any legitimate criticism of Obama and simply label the opposition as being motivated by racism. Needless to say, that's going to pi$$ those people off and, of course, that's the whole reason for doing it, because they know that if they can make the opposition angry, its quite a bit easier to paint their motivation as irrational and make the connection with racism.

Well, after centuries of subjugation, with no real recompense, I can’t blame them for expecting anything. However, WHITE PRIVELIEGE TRUMPS IT ALL! It is afforded you to you and you don’t even recognize it.

We have entire inner cities full of these types of people to prove it. I live near Detroit and this city is a cesspool full of welfare families that go back generations.

Wouldn’t have welfare families that go back generations if it weren’t for institutional deviance and WP. I mean seriously friend, there is no way of addressing the issue without looking at the major contributors, and the major contributors to the problems aren’t blacks, but the unwillingness of people to acknowledge the truth.

These people that live here have no ambition to do anything for themselves or their communities and the people running these inner cities are the same way. 7 out of 10 murders go unsolved in Detroit and the blacks are running every level of city government here.

What did you expect from the city? You expected it to turn out Rhodes Scholars every single day? Detroit is known for what? Cars. How much ambition do you expect for the people to have when the majority are assembly line workers, or come from that type of background?

In 2008, seven out of ten murders went unsolved, and due to being unsolved, you can’t say who committed the crimes. In addition, a lack of funding and reduced police force is contributing to the problem, so don’t make it seem as if blacks are the sole problem in Detroit as the problem extends beyond blacks. Moreover, police brutality and other violations have created tension between the citizens and law enforcement, so again, don’t make it seem as if the problem lies solely with blacks.

The facts always seem to get in the way of the "you’re a racist" argument from the left. Blacks are the biggest perpetrators of racism and violent crime in this country and the facts back that up.

I couldn’t care less about the left or right, and I seriously doubt you understand the data from the National Crime Victimization Surveys or from Uniform Crime Reports.

It couldn't be that people are protesting because Obama is a socialist? Could it?

If we put this into a historical perspective, people were extremely pissed at Bush's second term. Obama comes into office under the flag of hope and change, and his change involves more government involvement in the lives of its citizens. I think the government as a whole caused everyone to break. I can only imagine how things will play out for election year. Too bad we can't kick the main socialist out in 2010. We just have to make it harder for him by throwing his friends out of office.

You can be American, English, British, French, Chinese, Japanese, Hispanic, Afghan, Australian, Ethiopian, whatever.

If you give me the respect every human being deserves (the same respect in which I also give everyone), then we will never have a problem. But if you make ANY judgment about a specific person based only upon color, you need to seriously have a listen beat into you.

What needs to be done in order to prove to you (and others that share your view) that black people ARE fully accepted? In other words, what would it take for this to happen?

I ask because I often feel like "equality" is spoken about like some mysterious dangling carrot -- never to be reached -- but nonetheless described as attainable.

Do all communities have to have an equal number of blacks, whites? What about hispanics? What about the the simple fact that there are more white people than black people? Does it have to be simply a proportionate number representative of the racial breakdown?

I don't understand this. How can you say whites are free to think for themselves without being ridiculed at a time when we are speaking out against the White House and the administration (people tend to forget that the administration is predominantly WHITE) and we are instantly labeled as racists?!

We apparently aren't allowed to think for ourselves if it involves contradicting the view points of a black president. Double standard?

I, too was going to reply but....they spelled PRIVILEGE incorrectly so it wasn't worth the time...

BUT I'll reply anyway. What privileges do we, white people have? We don't bitch and moan about having more rights than any other race. Do we? No.

At least blacks have affirmative action.

Not saying that in a racist manner either, I'm just making the point whites are under privileged if anything. Don't see why we can't all be equal...every group wants more rights than the other....

Yea it isn't nice, not at all. But considering the foundation and the past of South Africa, it's a subject that won't go anywhere anytime soon as long as their are those out their determined to keep others down based on race, religion, or national creed.

Same ol same old I see.I do not mean to criticize, but get real. Some other members commented that it seems this race division is being instigated and I believe that is true, but for what purpose? It seems to me that every single issue used to divide us over the last 2 decades was designed to take the attention away from something else. A large amount of money inexplicably missing from the pentagon coffers, 911 happens. People start questioning the official story? The contraversial patriot act and the iraq war happen. The Hitz report about to come out that could cause some serious backlash at our government in 1998-Clinton gets impeached for a blowjob. The real question is what is going on right now that the powers that be want us to argue amongst each other about health care and racism and socialism and the like?
