AT least people are out there protesting, I wish it was that much people when the first bail out bill last year was shoved up the tax payer butts to save the banking cartel.

Sometimes things are done a littler too late, because if I remember clearly the waste of tax payer money started with the two unnecessary wars that the last administration brought us.

With all the money wasted in Iraq and Afghanistan we should have lowered the deficit a long time ago.

hey, those people want the wealthy insurance companies, and bankers and wall street to get more money. they can't have regular people getting any help for their health insurance....what are you???? UN-AMERICAN???

Good idea, steve...BUT, unless there is a passenger traffic break-down by line and station, it's still going to be open for debate.

Also, every weekend sine Labor Day there have been substantial track closures and disruptions on the Rail system portion of Metro.

They are STILL working on the Red Line sections where the accident was a few months ago, killing nine.

There is a lot of work on the Yellow and Blue Line tracks between National Airport and Pentagon Stations. (National, Crystal City and Pentagon City Stations were CLOSED for the entire three-day Labor Day weekend!! Not very happy people for that!)

They reduce service, and go to "single-track" operations, and that induces a lot of delays. Not sure how many out-of-towners would know how to use the MetroBus routes, they aren't as intuitive as the trains.

edit: You can use the link in steve's post to see the Metro map. Metro Center, Federal Triangle and Archives/Navy Memorial Stations are all good exit points for the people who were rendezvousing in Freedom Plaza.

ALSO, here's the ridership data from January 20, 2009 for the Obama Inauguration:

January 20, 2009 - Rail ridership: 1,120,000 Bus ridership: 423,000 (Detailed Service Information)

ABC estimates it at 60-70,000, Wall street journel estimates crowd size to be rond 75,000. Either way it was an impressive turn out, and I'd say the organizers deserve a pat on their back for such a turn out, regardless of reasoning behind the movement.

They always do this. We flooded the US Capital on one of the coldest days on record (January 18th 2003) to try and stop the war, and they took pictures in the morning for MSM, 7:00 AM in the morning and then said it was thousands instead of hundreds of thousands.

It's that...everything's fine, nothing to see, move along mentality.

I tell you what, if you have seen all those bills for the health care reform, none of them are for one payer system and neither for universal health care the bills are to put more money in the hands of the greedy bastards that are still running the health care in nation, and guess what this time is going to be mandatory.

So get ready because we are going to have a health care system still run by private insurance just like the car insurance business is run.

, is not such thing as health care reform, but health care give away for private insurance and big pharma, after all they are both in the top three most generous campaign donors in Washington.

I am well aware as to the intricacies associated with the boondoggle that is WMATA- I do live 13 miles outside of DC. There were also other events in town yesterday, as well. However, if there were 2 million extra people in town yesterday, the ridership figures would be close to that of the coronation, given that for so many people to be there, many would be locals, who know better than to drive in for a big event, and would use the busses and trains.

too bad they didn't have any people that got screwed out of their health care claims or the thousands of people that actually died from being denied life saving treatment, because they couldn't come up with the money...apparently those people don't count...yeah...tough sh*t people...your on your own...no money, F U....just go away and die and don't bother us 9/12'rs

It is against the law for hospitals to deny treatment to people with critical injuries. At worst they would receive a bill they couldn't pay. Do you ever hear about large numbers of illegals dying due to lack of health care? Poor people have access to Medicaid.

i'm talking about regular people that have insurance, wound up in the hospital for a life-ending disease and the insurance company simply denies their claim, or says they have to "examine the claim some more"...it's happening all over this country, but apparently you people don't give a da*m....i know 2 neighbors, one had breast cancer and one had pancreatic cancer...and both insurance companies spent more then 7 months "reviewing" their cases...guess what...THEY DIED!! but hey!!! keep marching!!! maybe when one of your family comes down with some terrible disease...you can share their experience!!!!!

You must have missed my proposal for health care reform which stated that an insurance company would be forbidden from denying service to a member who has had a policy for 6 months or more. Another option would be to allow those with catastrophic illnesses to be eligible for Medicaid, with a reduction of their future social security payments.

I agree it was more than 60,000. I really REALLY wish I could have been there. I went to the tea party here where I am, and was amazed how many showed up and how hard the news paper and tv stations tried to down play it. I would have loved to participate in this March. Im sure Obama will try to play it off like he had no idea this was going on like he did on tax day. I think it was more important that other people knew they were doing it anyway though.

ok wanna kinda be on point in 2 ways here.. first of all..

the fact you have a democrat and hes "dare i say it" black is not helping..

OMG the POTUS is going to take away all our money and TAX us to MAKE our health system work..

Let me point out some home truths here and perspective.. from another nation on how we view America and please dont take this the wrong way...

The USA is based on a system of EVERY MAN / WOMAN for him / her self..

Greed..

Fek you jack long as i got mine fek u

That is the mentality of the usa.. But this is the part we do not understand

You bitch and whine about MONEY when you do not even understand your own system..,

The fed IS NOT federal.. just ask jfk..

And you think EVERYONE should pay for there OWN healthcare VIA a middle man called INSURANCE

this turns you INTO car ... NO BRAINer

Why not PAY a direct TAX and get it FREE like ALL the other countries ??

why because you pride your self on being cowboy hicks..

Sorry to tell you BUT this is not the wild west.. its the year 2009 and EVERYONE should get health care

why?

well we work for the bastards do we not? who tax us?

i think we are DUE this little thing ..

so you have a choice

keep paying insurance compaines to RIP you off OR all stick a collective # YOU up to them and all chip in to make sure your fellow man gets HIS RIGHT to be HEALTHY

its A RIGHT not a privilege ..

250 years

not that old as a nation, but yet you think you know how it all works

ironic

a Nation of BASTARDS ; ) never forget that cousins

No matter what policies or programs are implemented the elite NEVER want to keep you alive. They are eugenicists. Do you know what that means?

Wiki-Eugenics

It means they want most of us dead. Health coverage is terrible now and insurance companies ration care but if we get national health the gov't will ration care. The end result will be the same.

As long as we are run by eugenicists every policy or plan will be done under those principles. Even if they offer us all free food forever we need to ask "what are they putting in this free food" in the end they want us with diseases and or dead that is how it works.

This isn't a left and right issue. My thought is that with national health they will use it for nefarious means and we will never see good results. The notion is great just like free food is great but if the product is used to poison us then we don't want it.

I'm not saying the system now is good i'm just saying we need to get the criminals out of the gov't FIRST then we can fix the systems with good intentioned people not eugenicist.
