I utterly forget about the Israeli angle, thanks for reminding me, star for you. Let see what other members think about your post, I hope they don't miss it.

Most people dont realise it which is not surprising as it's not meant to be known to general folks. If you actually research the people who opposse Obama policies you will find a very fine link to Israeli Lobby or Israel directly or indirectly and if you see the timeline it immediately starts after Obama asked Israel to halt the illegal settlements.

Obama was the first President in long time to standup for American ppl interest and not Israel's interest that's why all the attempts are being made to discredit and derail his presidency. Please do also research the culprit background who made the fake birth certificate.

I somewhat agree. Even though it was calculated by officials as 70,000 its still a good turn out. We have seen plenty of larger movements over the years but that number is still big so congrats to the participants

Thank you at least i know there are still some sane people here.If i hear about military spending one more time i think ill scream. This is just a convenient way for people to be misled into a bad decision.Only 4% of our GDP goes to the military for god sakes Saudi Arabia spend 10%! What makes me mad is how many times are people willing to let Obama lie he miss represented himself as being against the war to get votes. He said he was going to bring troops home guess what there still there no end in sight. Now he comes back and says we can have universal health care without costing extra,And I should believe him why?

Well FDR told people the same thing when he started social security he promised it would be paid 1% payroll tax 1% employer tax.Guess what social security costs the tax payer now 12.4% so if you think I'm going to believe anything the government tells me your crazy. Once they get there foot in the door theres no going back.So news flash the feds need to stay out of my life as much as possible being a veteran Ive used the VA health care and will not go back. Id rather pay for it thanks and obviously there is a lot of British that feel the same way i do. Any time the government runs anything it either has to be rationed or payed for with more taxes.Things are hard enough the British loose 40% of there income to the government to provide mediocre health care where there own citizens feel they need to spend what there government lets them keep on more health care!

PS I'm not a racist i voted democrat and consider my self an independent this is the area where Obama is loosing his support and this is why he will only be in office 1 term.

I'll tell you why you should care about the numbers.
Because if they're going to lie to you about this, you must KNOW that they will lie to you about anything. Their goal is to make this "movement" seem much bigger then it is so they have more leverage for THEIR purposes. Make no mistake, they don't care about you and me at all, they only care about lining their pockets and solidifying their power bases. They are using the 60,000-70,000 people as pawns on their chess board. Those people out protesting for the most part are welling meaning, patriotic Americans but don't understand what's really going on.
Let me ask you all this....What is wrong with giving everyone in America healthcare? Shouldn't it actually be a RIGHT as an American citizen?
You buy a candy bar and you pay taxes....
you pay for congress' health care and that's ok in their minds so why would they say NO when it comes to us? Now let's keep in mind that congress and everyone else in government is OUR employee....we are THEIR boss.... Now lets continue with this thought process....How many bosses would give their employees FANTASTIC health care while not giving ANY to themselves. Does that make any sense at all?????

Time to wake up people ! You're protesting the wrong thing !!!!

21% @ £20,000 (~$33,000)

24/25% @ £30,000 (~$50,000)

28% @ £50,000 (~$82,000)

34% @ £100,000 (~$165,000)

Average gross family income for the UK was £32799 in 2007.

The deductions include income tax and national insurance. Covers everything from schools to hospitals, healthcare to basic pension and social security (illness and unemployment). Locally, we might have about £1500 per household (5% @ 30,000; depends on area and house) local taxes for rubbish collection and other amenities. Some at the lower end will have the possibility of lots of help for rent and council tax, and families/married get other deductions (just single calculations above), and even free school meals and help with school uniforms.

Please show me something representative of your taxes, local and income (inc. social security), you can add healthcare insurance extras as well, makes it more representative. I know they vary wildly, so just your state I suppose. Anyone else can give an idea as well. Forget sales taxes.

Don't forget to include that medicare - you know the government healthcare you pay for.

And don't big up private medical insurance here, few people actually pay for it. About 1.5 million in a country of around 40-50 million adults (~3%). Another 5/6 million acquire it through employment. At least barely a soul need go bankrupt trying to stay healthy here (60% is embarrassing).

You've made an excellent point sir !
When you add up
Local taxes
Sales tax
gas tax
income tax
social security tax
federal tax
etc...
What percentage have we given up? My guess is that we're on par with our brothers in Britain

"Why is the MSM downplaying and ignoring it, and will the protest have any long-term effects other than a one-time showing? "

Part of HSP Directive 51 state the media will be under the direction
of the government.

I think that is clearly the case, and as we have been in a state of
emergency for some time, HSPD 51 can be in effect by letter of the law.

One thing most ppl forget is what was done in Germany in the late 30's
was all letter of the law.

Just for perspective and representative amounts of PEOPLE in crowds---

The opening of a new football arena (American 'football', of course) in Texas, ew home for the Dallas Cowboys was plastered all over morning TV. (The Today Show...)

I found it interesting, in viewing the video, that the audience capacity of the arena is 80,000!!!! With the capability of hlding up to 100,000 (if they remove armest from the stadium seats, and push them together).

When games are underway, the arena employs 10,000!!! staff.

SO....take a look at the staduim, and try to imagine the inflated figure of TWO MILLION, as claimed by FOX News and others....

Just to help emphasize my point....TWO MILLION is TWENTY times 100,000!!!

But, why should logic, reasoning and facts stand in the way of good hyperbole???

I have to say, that after reading this thread, I belief half of you are plants.

This thread was about how many people showed up to the protests. Now everyone leaning left(Democrat) or foreigners;either tryed to derail the thread by saying this was a protest against health care or grossly underestimated the crowd size.

My estimate 1.5-2.5 million. We will never know exactly because the government shutdown the city's cameras and did not allow photos from the Washington Monument. Luckily, that one camera was not controlled by the government.

DO YOU UNDERSTAND THAT SHEEPLE(everyone on this thread that tried to derail it)-THE GOVERNMENT DID NOT CONTROL THAT CAMERA

SG-"60-70k showed up but good effort". You know what, FRACK YOU. People like you, is the reason our country is in the shape we are in. That goes for anyone Fracking "zealotly Republican". You SIR are a worthless eater and a disgrace to the American People.

And the others that tried to derail this thread by bringing up health care.
This protest was about government CORRUPTION, out of control spending, wars, NWO, etc. BUT I GUESS PEOPLE LIKE SG ARE ALL FOR IT NOW

You know what, I have made a decision, people like SG and their like I am ignoring. You cannot argue and show evidence with zealots.

Fracking morons.

Photo of "tea party" protests shows crowd sprawling from Capitol to Washington Monument is a hoax as it apparently was taken in 1997 at a Promise Keepers rally.

So supporters of Saturday’s “tea party” protests against President Barack Obama were quick to highlight their big turnout. To bolster countless claims on blogs and Facebook, many posted a photograph that showed a gargantuan crowd sprawling from Capitol Hill down the National Mall to the Washington Monument.

But it turns out the photo is more than 10 years old, apparently taken during a 1997 Promise Keepers rally.

On Saturday, estimates about the crowd spread quickly through the conservative blogosphere. Many writers, including author Michelle Malkin, pegged the number of people between 1 million and 2 million.

Well, no matter what the real number is the point is, there were a lot! Well, anyone out here and there has a thing or two to say, right? We all have different opinions and we are responsible to that. True, his administration may not be doing well for all of us but we got to give him a chance. right? I am not pro or anti , all I'm saying is, USA is a very big and powerful country and changing systems and everything is not an easy job, I hope anybody here agrees with me on this. He is not God who do and change our lives just like a snap, all has to be planned, I believe he got his own reasons and he thinks that his decision is for the best. You may or not agree. We don't need a bloodshed just to prove his worth. got a source here capitoldistrict(dot)com, this will give you ideas why I am holding my head high despite of all of these.
