Ok, I debated a long time about posting this because I usually dont like to talk about my illnesses or anyone's for that matter..but, I searched
everywhere for what is happening to me, and cant find any answers.
Going to a doctor..pffft..forget about it..costs too much, and I dont think Im dying or anything..its just baffling.
I have been having the oddest sounds in my head..right side as far as I can tell..and it doesn't quite seem like its in my ear..seems deeper..and
the sound is almost impossible to describe..but Im going to try.
If you have seen The Ring..or Texas Chainsaw Massacre..there are high pitched noises in those movies..in TCM..its at the beginning when the camera
shoots a picture..after it shoots..there is a high pitched squeal..in The Ring..its when the girl shows by the well...that is the sound I hear...but
also..after the first initial "squeal"..there are scratching or garbled sounds..they sound electronic...its so loud inside my head that it actually
wakes me up...I didnt want to talk about this..because I dont want someone to think im nuts!! It almost sounds like tiny gremlin, electronic
speech...rofl..ok now you WILL think im nuts..
Honestly..its baffling...and annoying...as it wakes me from sleep..and I know its not coming from outside influence because I wear earplugs when I
sleep and its very loud inside my ear/head region...
Has anyone heard of this..or experienced it..Im really kinda scared!!!!

I have heard reports over the years of people tuning into radio signals due to fillings. I have never read a verified source and as yet the phenomenon
seems confined to urban myths. However I did find something that could be related to what you are experiencing?

Odd name, but maybe it'll help shine some light.
Wish I could help more, I hope it goes away.

Could it be tinnitus?
If you haven't heard of tinnitus, it might be worth reading up on it.....

Very interesting that you would post that link. I suffer from that condition, and it is a real nightmare when it happens. Thankfully it is a rare
event and thankfully only when meditating.
Maybe relevant to the OP?

If it is loud enough to disturb sleep patterns I highly doubt it is tinnitus. Without further details it is hard to come to a conclusion but I am
leaning more towards the exploding head syndrome.
When I was 12 or 13 I vividly remember one "explosion" inside my head. It's never happened since. These types of rare conditions aren't as "rare" as
one might think. They just tend to not get reported.
On another note...just sign up and wait in line for Obamacare...they'll take care of that ringing for you!

Yes..its loud enough to wake me up..but it happens while Im awake too..no pain..and I dont feel an adrenalin rush like was explained in the exploding
head syndrome..OMG..I have to laugh at that..would be a good Family Guy episode..
I think Id rather keep my electronic "friends" in my head..than go with the Obamacare..they'd probably crack open my noggin to see whats ticking in
there!

You think it could possibly be the onset of a more serious condition such as schitzophrenia?
It might interest you to find the thread "ask a scitzophrenic anything" and question the OP of that thread.

Thats why I hesitated to even post this..it's been ongoing for a few months now..I dont want to be labeled as schizophrenic ..I mean..I dont hear
voices, actually...and I dont "see" things that arent there..I DO hear electronic fizzing, buzzing..crackling..scratching..damn..I wish I could put
it into better words..

I am glad you found the link of use even if just as a reassurance.
For what it is worth I do not think you are going nuts.
I suffer something similar to you but it only lasts a second. Regardless of duration in that roaring second I think my brains are going to evacuate my
skull via the ears and it hurts too.
The sound I experience does have an electronic feel to it but I do not hear defined sounds like speech or music or anything else that could have me
thinking it is a radio station.
My tormentor is just an almighty "KRANG" that has had me kicking over a coffee table, falling on to the floor or just yelling out in
shock/panic/fear/pain
I have never been woken up by it but I have had it cause me to sit bolt upright as I was trying to get to sleep. More often than not, though it
happens during meditation and I get a warning. A change of pitch for a couple of seconds in the flow of that ringing or buzzing sound I hear when I am
successfully meditating.
I hope you find some answers. In my case I'm hoping it's otherworldly

Thank you..because I sorta wondered if I was looney tunes..lol...
.so you experience pain? I dont have any pain whatsoever...its almost a pleasant feeling..I have to say...and its not loud like a crash..but its loud
as its inside my head..it all seems to stay the same decibels though..and yes..its only lasts a few seconds..

Without a proper diagnosis from an actual doctor I really don't think you are going to receive the proper answer. There are numerous things that can
cause the noise in your head.
Tinnitus is more often associated as sounds from the ear and is not likely to wake one from sleep so I have ruled that out.
Abnormally high blood pressure has on occassion been known to produce a "pounding" sound in the head. I think you would have noticed other medical
issues besides just the noise though so I think we could safely rule that out as well.
Exploding head syndrome is reportedly a "rare" disorder. I know many articles associate it with a variety of sounds and also on occasion with
adrenaline rushes. I'm not sure if all sufferers from this disorder receive those adrenaline rushes though. I know in my one experience I somewhat had
a rush. It was more of a "omg what was that sound I'm freaking out" rush though. There's a possibility this could be what's plaguing you.
Also I mentioned schitzophrenia which I personally know very little about. I know it is typically associated with "voices" but I would assume at the
early stages it could manifest as pretty much any "sound".
There was also the mention of an urban legend concerning fillings and radio signals - also possible although I have never heard of any reported case
attributed to this.
I will do more research at a later date if you continue to receive very little help.

Yes it is definitely painful but it does not last long. The only way I can describe the pain is like my eardrums are bursting out from the inside.
This is as close as I can get to describing it, I do not have the vocabulary for it other than to describe it as pain because the sound hits at such a
volume it is like an electrocution...
I bet I look like some guy with egg eyes out on stalks when the explosion hits.
I have had MRI scans, x rays and tests for cancer and all the rest of it. According to the docs I'm completely healthy though an MRI scan done in a
German hospital did pick up an "anomaly" in my brain (their words not mine, relayed to me by translator).
I never heard anything more on that and was not that interested at the time. I was young and there were not enough hours in the day so I never pushed
for clarification

Wow, so you've had this for a long time, then! And the egg eyes thing made me giggle
Id be interested to know what your "anomaly" is...
Well, yours is not what mine would be, then..mine is no pain..and not an initial loudness...it all stays the same level..decibels I suppose is the
word for it..

I found an online forum where there are specialists for each category of doctors. I don't know if you'd be willing to do it but if it really worries
you I have linked it below. I suppose you would use the neurology forum.
www.doctorslounge.com...
I did take the time to browse the already posted neurology threads but I found nothing similar to what you have described. I do hope you find the
answers you are looking for.
