I was not meaning that in any sort of attack I hope you understand merely attempting to understand your position. Ah but faith is a key component of hope and as it ties into how we see the world it is very revelant to physical existance. And I am not talking about faith in the bastardized anti-religious connocations that it has taken on with some but this definition:

Main Entry: 1faith
Pronunciation: \ˈfāth\
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural faiths \ˈfāths, sometimes ˈfāthz\
Etymology: Middle English feith, from Anglo-French feid, fei, from Latin fides; akin to Latin fidere to trust — more at bide
Date: 13th century
1 a : allegiance to duty or a person : loyalty b (1) : fidelity to one's promises (2) : sincerity of intentions
2 a (1) : belief and trust in and loyalty to God (2) : belief in the traditional doctrines of a religion b (1) : firm belief in something for which there is no proof (2) : complete trust
3 : something that is believed especially with strong conviction; especially : a system of religious beliefs

synonyms see belief

— on faith : without question

And anyway, not everything is about *survival*.

Tell that to a dead Guy.

No offense taken.

Faith is a belief in the absence of knowledge or proof.

None of the things that keep us alive (Which is a prerequisite for faith, btw...) involve faith.

You must be alive to have faith.

And to stay alive, you must use reason.

Like I said, faith is a prequisite for hope. And you need hope to survive.

Hope is a longing for a future condition over which you have no agency.

I don't Hope that I am going to eat tonight... I am going to make a Conscious Decision to eat tonight.

I chose to eat, because I perceive my life to have value.

Hope does not play a part.

If put into that context you are correct but you are restricting contexts when you do so. There are situations in which only striving brought about by hope ensured survival.

Survival does not just pertain to eating.
This is a very naughty second line that you must whip like the wretch it is.

Lol...

Ok, survival requires These Things:

1. Air
2. Water
3. Food
4. Shelter
5. Protection from the Elements
6. Protection from the Wild (Lions, Tigers, Bears, oh my!)

#1 supplies itself, and is therefore a non-issue. (Except in extreme envioronments.)

#2 is readily abundant, but requires some work to be gathered.

#3 is also readily abundand, but requires even more work to maintain.

#4 *CAN* be found, but not in the quantity that is required for large ammounts of people.

#5 is basically the same as #4, with the addition of clothing.

#6 is the kicker.

Protection from predators requires a defense mechanism, of which humans have *ONLY ONE*

And Ill give you a hint... it is not your emotions.

It is your mind.

Man's Mind is his only defense against Tooth and Claw.

Without reason, and creativity, mankind would never have survived, and thrived as he has, and is doing today.

@BluJay

You will know when you are ready to know.

Spirituality has absolutely no bearing on survival...

You can talk about chakra energy centers until you are blue (Or bluer) in the face.... it will not contribute to your survival one iota.

Your soul can be perfectly aligned to the realm of spirits, but without reason to feed you, and protect you... it is all for naught.

Without reason, your spirituality is useless.

Survival is a requirement of spirituality.

Survival is the foundation on which your philosophies are built.

One's soul cannot evolve, if it cannot keep its mortal coil alive.

You are discounting reason as if it means nothing to you.... It keeps you alive, it enables you to communicate, and learn, it shelters you from the deadly elements, if heals your wounds.

If the realm of the spirit is all that you care for, then *THAT* is what you shall receive.
