Harper accused of selling out fisheries

www.cbc.ca

The Harper government is about to open Canadian fishing grounds to foreign control, former federal fisheries bureaucrats warn.

The former Department of Fisheries and Oceans employees, meeting with politicians and industry officials in Newfoundland, said the federal government has agreed to open Canada's 200-mile limit to member countries of the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO).

The new arrangement will give European countries a hand in setting quotas and even the inspection of Canadian vessels, they said.

There's more to this than meets the eye, beyond the capitalist, rather non-conservative actions of the Prime Minister.
Facing a possible election, let us not also forget that this is likely presented now as Liberal subterfuge, however true the facts of the story.
If there were fish in the arctic sea that Russians wanted to eat, would we be out of Afghanistan sooner? Why wasn't the PM patrolling PEI in a nuclear sub?
The Canadian political situation is as dire as it is elsewhere, we're damned if we do and damned if we don't.

Come get your free water, while it lasts!

What could possibly be the benefit to Canada of this move? It makes no sense. The Europeans can not be trusted now to stick to their quotas or otherwise give a damn about Canada's fishing concerns.

This sellout makes no sense whatever. On the otherhand it looks like just one more step closer to One World Order where individual country's sovereignty is no more.

I will have to look out for this but I think this is really a pre election salvo by the libs.
Thanks for the post briantaylor.

Canada would be INSANE to elect Michael Ignatief!!!

So unless they elect the socialist dude, Jack Layton, then Harper is really the only clear choice.

He will get yet another minority Government. That much I know.

The next fully elected Liberal Prime Minister of Canuckistan is Justin Trudeau. Yes that's right. Remember where you heard it as it is all in the globalist playbook.

After Ignatief loses this next election, there will be a Liberal convention in which Trudeau is LOUDLY nominated, no matter how hard he *truly* resists now. Let's say he knows the greater game from a *huge insider figure a la DAD* and does NOT want to be on that side of history.

Then the government will be either toppled again via another cheap shot "coalition of the shilling" or an election will be called for yet again allowing Mr. Trudeau to be the last bastion of Canadian "sovereignty" (what a joke!) and unity (bigger joke). He will be the friendly face to compare to the *sinister looking* Harper, who everyone loves to hate yet not have 1 single clue why.

During another coup attempt you will see Jack Layton's true colors shine. Dirty hardball gansterism all with a super friendly and disarming smile, like the last time. He will channel the Broadbent of the early 80's. Fists pounding the table and portraying the advocate while still more people remain homeless & starve in his district. Shouldn't he be the new host of Jeopardy already?

As for the fisheries, the reason why they are doing this is to disarm a move by the future repulican party of newfoundland that will try to take 100% of it's resources in a very selfish, short term memoried, move. The most powerful man in Canada is now governor / premiere Williams and he's no joke. A smart but militant man and a true threat to Canadian unity as you know it. History will show!

There is also another reason. Euro crabs are infecting that coastline and it will soon be dead sparing a few european green crab. Seems nothing good comes from europe between the rats and now the green aqua rats.

Give up on the fishery. It's GONE long ago.

Also, please don't consider this a laugh or a bash. I starred and flagged you and am one part canadian! We just have to understand that Canada is the next frontier. The USA is spent and being disposed of.
KNOW YOUR PUPPETS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ignatieff and Williams have a thing or two in common and it is NOT "politics".

Jack Layton is the only sane choice out of any of them and not voting with a conscience, for the nwo henchmen instead of working with the social democrat party has always been a very poor voting choice. We need to become more like Norway, Sweden and Finland, rather than our mismanaged fascist neighbour. In reality, there needs to be a global concept of fisheries. One thing that was allowed by whatever gov't was in, was the allowance of the US to dump its depeleted uranium spent ammo by the megatons off the east and west coast of Canada into prime fishing waters. This made cbc news in Canada. The US has been the primary source of poison and toxins, deliberately put in our air, food and water, in a very real attempt to kill us by the way, shorten our lives, and limit our power, and to instigate mother earth's reaction.

I don think the ndp would have ever allowed this.

The reason all that crap was dumped up there is because there were no competent people in the official opposition of government. An ineffective opposition can only be DOUBLY ineffective if they are the government. TRIPLY ineffective if they are in power and there's an effective opposition.

Canada lacks real opposition. Only the PCs were the only real opposition Canada ever had in it's whole history. The modern Conservatives are pretty good too but they are tactful as a Government. All those who oppose end up looking like sour grapes and cry babies as their arguments are thin and quiet.

I will eat a lady's stiletto if anyone but Harper wins, that is if the "opposition" are secure and confident enough in their employ-ability to call another election. Otherwise a coalition will be weak and short lived, too, as the two ronnies fight to matter.

It's the simple truth. Those that hate Harper are the sort of people that typically don't vote. The polls proved that. All you could hear the past 10 years is disdain for Harper yet he wins, even against the almighty Paul Martin. Then again the last liberal in power, back in 2005 signed and originated the SPP. Thanks to Mr. Martin, the Harper you hate is the only best chance Canada has for unity & a very shallow definition of sovereignty.

These are facts and not my feelings. Canada needs to grow up and leave mommy. We all know who the mommy is. It's NOT the USA. The USA is the evil brother telling little Canada to put it's finger in the light socket.
