A paraphrase of a rewrite of a variation.

Do not go placidly amid the apathy and laziness. Remember that your silence is consent and there can be no peace where there is injustice.

You cannot please all the people all the time, shout your truth from the mountain top and don't accept nonsense from the bigoted, the ignorant or the selfish.

Avoid the loud, the angry and the aggressive people, life is for living, not crying over small hurts. Lies like nails once driven are hard to remove.

Be tolerant of the diversity that makes everyone special and be aware that there are no persons greater or lesser than yourself, they are all just different.

Don't live in the past or future. Enjoy the present. Today IS.

Don't become obsessed by your own career. It cannot give you security or possession of anything or anyone.

Exercise trust in your dealings but be careful, as the world is full of material people.

Become yourself. Express affection for all people and all species, all of the time.

Be skeptical about romance for it can be as fleeting as a summer flower. True love will last a lifetime.

Don't become tied in your ways and never surrender your sense of wonder. Don't be defensive. Be optimistic and imaginative.

Fatigue and loneliness are born of fear. Be rigorous in accepting responsibility for your actions and their consequences.

You are a child of your less than perfect parents who were once children too. And whether or not it is clear to you, things will only work out if you work too.

Whatever you conceive God to be, also be aware that every single thing you do actually changes the world, both good and bad.

You can have a life of joy or sadness, no one can walk your life for you, they are your feet and you must choose your path. When you stumble or fall down remember to get up and continue.

If you have something truly profound to add in the spirit of the original please do so.
