It means that the member has recently been warned for some sort of a T&C violation. It is there intentionally.

If a member got warned, a red warning flag is visible for 72 hours

i know what it is - but :

do we [ the members ] need to see it ???

just my opinion - but i can see no purpose to it [ that is - it being visible ]

the mods need to see who has had warns and why - if only to prevent multiple mods infracting the same offence - and it could be re coded to make it only visible to staff - as many things already are

but why do general members need to see them ? by the time a warn flag is issues - the offending post has ussually been edited or removed - so it doesnt prevent multiple superflous alerts to staff

so what is it for ??

Firstly, every mod is aware of every action taken by staff.

Secondly, its for transparancy purposes. Clicking on the warn gives a clear indication as to which thread the user was warned in.

It may suprise you to know that some unscrupulous people claim to have been warned in a thread just for the hell of it to cause drama, when actually the warning they received was nothing to do with where they make their claim (and they do such things even though they receive an automated U2U telling them which post has been actioned)

Such claims are rare, but they happen.

It also lets other members see the people who are causing trouble.
Good idea i think.
Now i know what it means.
