Forgive me, but this is strictly a republican play, my friend.
Repubs did it with Clinton, making a huge deal about an extramarital affair (effectively, by the way. Credit where credit is due).

I find it ironic how many here think there is nothing wrong with this and all the kids should be forced to sit through Obama's speech and "learning materials" afterward. Yet the same people probably do not want the pledge in school, or at the very least think kids should be able to opt out of it.

I can't bear to watch the buffoons on Fox "news"...Steve Doocey gives me the creeps. The bubble-headed bleach blondes too....ugh. BUT, if that's the kind of crap they're selling you, then it's little wonder people are acting crazy over this issue.
Do you folks listen to yourselves? You get the creeps because of their racial attributes?

That graphic of his budget is not refuted by your changing the subject.
That graphic guarantees the destruction of this country.

I understand what is going on. Pro-Obama people are having a different conversation than the anti-Obama crowd (me included).
You see the problem. If you do not see what’s wrong with the President's ideology, of course you don't have a problem with him spewing it directly to your kids.
If the president believed in creationism, would you have a problem with him giving a speech directly to your kids telling them that the earth is 6000 years old?
Deny Ignorance, Long live the freedom of Speech - so long as it has a liberal bent.
We are saying that Obama is trying to indoctrinate our children in his Marxist ideology.

And it exists on all sides.
It seems like ATS is a playground of right-wingers that come here to cry about Obama being the devil and all kinds of rubbish.
That only ENCOURAGES ignorance.

That's exactly right, xmotex. But aside from the fun in exposing these factless people, there's no getting to them. Our only hope is that those that read these boards looking for genuine, fact-based dialogue will also do their homework. These people are just extensions of the town hallers: Alot of loudness, alot of shouting, alot of big inflammatory words, but rarely any substance. These are the same people that "fear" for their freedoms when Obama tries to break up the healthcare monopolies, but don't say a word when Bush signs the Patriot act, spies on our own, expands Presidential powers, and leaves millions for dead in Katrina.

JEEZUS!! Don't you get it?! To many of us, Obama and his ilk, including Harry Reid, Barbara Boxer and Nancy Pelosi, ARE the devil!! SHEESH!! Do I have to explain this again?

If that was what he was really about, it would be fine. That said, I have no problem with helping others, but I will not be forced or have my children mandated to participate against our will. As for diversity, how do you achieve unity through diversity? And, how does spreading the wealth from those who earned it to those who didn't, build a work ethic. If I disagree with him, by virtually all his most intense supporters , I am a racist. That promotes unity. If he thinks he can divide us or our families and conquer, believe me he will do it and then try to convey a "Who Me?" attitude with the Obama style and charm to disarm his critics.
You are being deceived if you believe he is about anything other than about power. Always has been from his very beginnings.
Don't get me wrong, Bush is no better and really started this ball rolling. Obama has simply picked it up and is running with it. I wouldn't let Bush talk to my kids either.

I think it shows the depth of public malcontent and distrust of the Obama administration and its policies. And, to an even greater extent, distrust and discontent of our government in general.
It's really not, as many on the Left would say, a frenzy drummed up by the Republican party and Fox News. Fox News isn't much better to me and many others than CNN and to label this as something manufactured by the Republicans is to misunderstand the movement entirely.
It's not just Left against Right, it's "Throw all these bums out and start over because we've had enough."
