This is a great story. Not because it reveals the nuttier-then-squirrel-poop nature of republicans but because it highlights one of the crux of the problem of political discourse in the USA today.

Lets begin at the beginning:

If there is anybody out there who still doesn't believe that the conservative media will attack President Obama no matter what he does, consider this: Right-wingers are telling children to skip school as a protest against Obama's encouragement of students to stay in school.

Well I am sure there are, and I am equally sure that let-wingers will attack right-wingers for just about any cause. This is what our problem is. We are like spoiled valley-girl-blonds fighting over whose hair is 'done right'.

So Glenn Beck and his fellow tinfoil hat-wearers sprang into action. Beck went off on his "indoctrination" rant, warning of secret private armies (no, he isn't worried about Blackwater -- it's the thought of English majors signing up to help teach people how to read that keeps him up at night).

What? Indoctrination? Perhaps we should just put an end to education all together in this nation? I mean apparently we are getting close, right?

WorldNetDaily said Obama's planned speech "raises the specter of the Civilian National Security Force" and promoted comparisons to Hitler's youth brigade. Mark Steyn said the speech is part of a "cult of personality," though he did admit it isn't on the scale of Saddam Hussein's.

NewsBusters' Mark Finkelstein alerted his followers ... one day you're urging kids to get good grades, and the next you're ordering mass executions. Duh.

More fear and hyperbole anyone? Personally I am full and any more high calorie, super sugary intake will cause projectile vomiting. But I speak only for my self...

ome conservative media didn't simply complain about Obama's dastardly efforts to promote hard work and learning among America's schoolchildren. No, they came up with a solution: Children should stay home from school.

Radio host Tammy Bruce asked "TownHall Patriots" to help organize "PASS Day Picnics" -- that's "Parentally Approved Skip School Day," for the uninitiated. In a blog post under a close-up photo her hand holding a gun, Bruce added that "Urkel" -- that's her pet name for Obama; get it? -- is going to "make a grab for your kids" and that he is "setting us on fire."

And we have reached a new level of absurdity.

WAKE UP YOU STUPID SHEEP!

Yes, lets teach our kids that education is some how a BAD thing. So bad and evil that it must be protested. EEEGADS, as if their hormone riddled brains are not already confused enough. The war between the right and left needs to end people. we are presently in mid spiral down the crapper and once we pass the event horizon of crap there will be little chance of coming back.

This article picks on the right for being massive baffons, but it is the same eon the left. Our country is getting slowly strangled and WE are the ones doing the chocking.

Kind of makes me sad.

Well. After seeing that I pledge video. I would be afraid to let me child see Obama speak. While I realize this was done by the USA Network, and probably not officially linked to the white house, things coming out are disturbing.

By the way, I do not believe this is at all republicans that would do this.. as I fall somewhere in the lines of between quite a few ideologies, and republicanism is probably the least apparent (At least THEIR version of a republican.)

I would also like to add, that Obama's Inaugaration Speech was one of my all-time favorites. AND, that even if his address to the school children gets a little wacko, I know that my kids are intelligent, and that they have good backgrounds, and morals! I encourage them to take all of this in, and draw their own conclusions!

There is no way, that some politician is going to "indoctrinate" my kids with one speech!

Um ... no.

Progressive Examiner - Big Brother Alert. Sorry, but Obama's planned addres to all the nationsschoolchildren is creepy

Before the speech, students are instructed to read books about Barack Obama. Teachers are asked to ask students “Why do you think he wants to speak to you?” referring to the President.

During the speech, students should think about the following “What is the President asking me to do?” and “What specific job is he asking me to do?” among other things.

After the speech, the questions that students should ponder include “Are we able to do what President Obama asks up to do?”

I’m sorry, but I don’t want the President of the United States asking or telling the kids of the United States to do anything. This isn’t 1950s China.

So Obama has the kiddies reading propaganda books about him. Do they contain the truth about the lies he's told? Do they tell the truth about his nefarious underworld connections? Do they tell the truth about the 20 years he spent in an anti-white cult? I'm sure they don't.

As the article says .. welcome to 1950's China.

Thank God Obama has supporters like you. Keep doing your work while the rest of the nation realizes what is really happening to our country. Just keep his ego going long enough so that he doesn't realize that the nation is turning on him.

One small step at a time, just like he promised he would do in his campaign. He is trying to start with the children. Don't forget that this school scheme is part of HR 1388 which has passed. This school address is set to get things in motion.

www.govtrack.us...

There are many school districts throughout the nation that WILL NOT show this address.

www.google.com...

The list goes on and on in Texas, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio, Iowa

Watch Obama's poll numbers plummet as our nation reaches a 26 year unemployment high of 9.6%. The man of promise and change has not even come close to doing anything for anyone other than those elite few who got him elected. ACORN, Apollo Alliance, etc etc They are all cashing in now.

Seriously???

I have said plenty of times that Obama is scary, but who in their right mind doesn't want the POTUS asking the kids of the US to do anything?

I want my president to expect the most out of our kids! I want him to be disappointed when any child fails, or drops out, or can't read! I want the bar set extremely high for all the students!! I am tired of seeing an "All Chinese" Physics department at my University! I am tired of seeing all the foreign students in the Library, while the American students are getting trashed and passing around STD's!!

In some of my Chemical Engineering classes, the best students were Female, Muslim, exchange students from Iran!! That should be a little more unsettling than a President asking the kids to do some community service!!

Are we so politically divided that we can't see any good coming from this? Why don't we let the good happen, and then draw the line at some point before it becomes Socialism or Naziism? We are smart, our kids are smart, surely we can have the best of the best of this?

Edit to add a true story:
I asked one of the Iranian girls why they came to the US if they disagreed with our lifestyle so much. Her response was, "We want our country to be great! We buy the best and cheapest rice from China, and we buy our Educations from the West! We don't have to agree with your lifestyle to see a good deal and capitalize on it!"

Well stated, Dr., and props to Flyers Fan, too. The White House has Communists within, plain and simple. This is step one to indoctrination.

Five year olds is what I worry about.

I dont think it is so bad that the president might give a speech to High schoolers (and MAYBE middle school)

but 5 years olds? Those children are impressionable, and they will CLING to his image, not knowing any better. What does he expect these children to do? They are still learning to read go dog go and learning their manners.

This is what B. Hussain Obama wants to teach our children: To pledge to be a servant to the President. You don't believe me, watch this PSA with all the cool celebrities telling us all the beautiful things they are pledging (except an allegiance to the Flag and the Republic for which it stands).

2:43 into the vid: To by a hybred.

3:18 into the vid: Pledge to Obama.

3:54 into the vid: Pledge to Obama.

This should make you sick.

Here is some more:

www.ed.gov...

The above link is to the Dept. of Ed. website. It has suggested lesson plans to connection with the president's speech. They revised it after the up roar.

It used to ask:

Students in grades pre-K-6, for example, are encouraged to "write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals." Teachers are also given guidance to tell students to "build background knowledge about the president of the United States by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama."

This is Leninist indoctrination.

Bush wasnt speaking to the nations children directly, only that one classroom.
he also never said we we need a civilian security force just as powerful, just as strong as the u.s. army. I will teach my children the importance of education. IMHO the abomination known as "the dept of education" should be abolished.

Exactly where is this line we cross into socialism/nazism? Did the germans know when they crossed it?

That is the $10T question! Obviously some think we already crossed it. I think we may have crossed it decades ago when we created a "consumer based" economy, and when we established the Fed!

Currently though, I think Obama's education plans, and community projects will actually play into the resistance better than into the State! Getting people educated and active in their communities, and connecting with one another, will foster the movement we need to overturn the Corporate-Socialist Elite that is the real problem. I highly doubt that is the motivation for the speech, and "indoctrination" may be a secret agenda, but I honestly believe that will backfire tremendously!!

Why does that matter? They will still be in elementary school that last time he'll be up for election.
