Two takes on it...

Radiation still so intense, the area is highly dangerous

A heavy layer of radioactive ash in Rajasthan, India, covers a three-square mile area, ten miles west of Jodhpur. Scientists are investigating the site, where a housing development was being built.

For some time it has been established that there is a very high rate of birth defects and cancer in the area under construction. The levels of radiation there have registered so high on investigators' gauges that the Indian government has now cordoned off the region. Scientists have unearthed an ancient city where evidence shows an atomic blast dating back thousands of years, from 8,000 to 12,000 years, destroyed most of the buildings and probably a half-million people. One researcher estimates that the nuclear bomb used was about the size of the ones dropped on Japan in 1945.

Anomalous radioactivity was recorded in two ancient
slag dumps spread on the surface near Bansda (24°35′N
lat., 70°09′E long.) and Dhavadiya (24°30′N lat.,
70°05′E long.) villages, Udaipur District, Rajasthan.
The slag, with a range of high to low radioactivity levels,
is the remnant of ancient smelting in the area, probably
for copper. Six samples showing low radioactivity
in Bansda contain an average of 0.030% U3O8, while
five moderately radioactive samples analysed contain
0.225% U3O8 and four highly radioactive samples analysed
contain 1.15% U3O8. The 15 samples contain on
an average 0.627% copper, 719 ppm zinc, 329 ppm
cobalt and 133 ppm vanadium. Fifteen samples from
Dhavadiya slag assayed on an average contain 0.040%
U3O8, 0.297% Cu, 292 ppm Zn and 250 ppm Co. The
extent of crystallization seen in the slag is intriguing
because an over-cooled melt generally forms glass.

Yep a natural source for the radioactivity. Thanks for finding the scientific report that backs that up roof monkey.

The image below is of the places on earth where uranium is mined and naturally occuring contamination occurs (radon gas anyone). Rajastan is usually the only place ever mention due to the UFO/nuke myth. Yet mining in that area is very little. Based on this information we might assume that the ancient Indians nuked Canada on a regular basis.

More seriously these areas beside providing the most mined Uranium also have high incidents of surface contamination.

Makes sense... if natural deposits can become so concentrated that they actually start fission in the presence of water as a moderator... then other formations are likely to contain similar levels of fissile material.

Now... if they really want to settle this once and for all... they need to do a check to see what sort of isotope ratios are present. That will give an idea of the near term history of the material. That's how the French scientists were able to tell that the Oklo deposits had been through a reaction process.

True and the Rajastan deposits are not what you'd find after a nuke explosion. We've had lots of those above the ground and we have an idea what is produced in such explosions.

Sounds like the people where smelting copper and discarding the slag which wouldn't melt into the copper - which would include uranium and some of the other metals mentioned.

You wonder if the they thought the gods were causing illness amongst them.

Very True Hanslune, there's two towns in Northern Ontario that were abandoned back in the 70's due to the contamination from the Uranium Mining. Very much like Chernobyl in of that everything is still the way it was the day they went in to take people out, nothing was allowed to be taken with them due to the contamination.

Not that you could explore the place without getting cancer.

Well then you need to place your blame on mad Indian gods who must have nuked the bejesus out of your place with bolts of lightning, lights of essence and whatever, etc

They probably disliked the maple syrup - every tried that with a nice Gujarati thali or any other type of curry? Disgusting- don't even think of maple syrup on a nice vindaloo......

Heavens, do you suppose they caused that gigantic crater that digs into the eastern side of Canada too? Surely such great and powerful weapons could be the only cause of such a tremendous calamity.

Why yes a giant space roti was probably the cause.
