At first glimpse it looks like any other glacier you might find in the freezing Arctic wastes of Norway.
But on closer inspection an eerie face is depicted in the melting ice wall that appears to be crying a river of tears.
The forlorn-looking 'Mother Nature' figure appeared to locals during a thaw, with the melting ice and snow falling towards the sea below.
The striking image of the Austfonna ice cap, located on Nordaustlandet in the Svalbard archipelago, would seem certain to be heavily used by
environmentalists protesting against climate change.
Rising sea levels caused by melting ice caps are one of the most worrying effects of global warming and experts warn swathes of low-lying
countries will be left under water.
The picture was captured by marine photographer and environmental lecturer Michael Nolan while on an annual voyage to observe the glacier and its
surrounding wildlife. A glacier expert has confirmed the ice cap carrying an image of Mother Nature 'crying' has been continually shrinking by as
much as 160 feet every year for several decades.

How frighteningly beautiful.

What if the earth is just going back to the way it's supposed to be?
It's sad that some humans are so arrogant as to think that we could alter the earth's climate so dramatically by our presence, or that we could stop
it.

Woow awesome pic!
This is making me think about how we are messing up our home...
A dog won't litter his own shack.. have we humans lost our instincts?
I wonder if we look back one day, we meaning humanity.
If we would look back on this era and think ' Never again ' ...

That is an interesting article and photo, but this is ATS...where is the conspiracy in this?
How appropriate that her "face" is horribly disfigured.

Discussion of climate change, pollution, and environment issues
There is no conspiracy behind this post and there doesn't need to be.
But if you are so desperate for one, ill give you one

Oh, well, if there's a chunk of ice that looks like a crying face, that settles everything! There's no need to even look at any scientific evidence
anymore. The planet is telling us to stop hurting it! We have to change our ways NOW!
Did I mention that yesterday I saw a cloud that looked exactly like a Prius being pulled by a wrecker? So much for buying one of those now.
Please, can we get any sillier than using ice formations as proof of anything?

I saw this article earlier today and saved the pic for my desktop background. Global warming discussions aside, it's a beautiful image.

I know it's sad,if humans were not around messing up the planet or lived in harmony with our environment glaciers would never melt...Its a cool pic
but it's melting ice with something that vaguely looks like a face.Maybe i just don't see what everyone else does...there are much more beautiful
pictures of nature to be found.

I don't have to; the ice is 'crying' on it.

If you want to see if global warming is real;
theres a little experiment you could try;
take a glass jar or an aquarium tank;
stick a thermometer in there;
then light a fire inside the jar/aquarium and leave it burning for a couple days;
see if the temperature rises......
throw some ice cubes and animals in there too; to see what happens......
