People that refuse to recognize that we have a duty as a society to take care of those who can't do it themselves are indeed A-holes.

People that refuse to realize that our brand of capitalism expolits a majority of our citizens and pushes them into need are indeed A-Holes.

People that hold themselves as better than others because they have more money or had more opportunity available to them are indeed A-Holes.

Those who will invent and spread lies and propaganda in order to keep their grip over society are indeed A-Holes.

Those who believe any effort to lift society as whole is Socialism are indeed A-Holes.

That pretty much sums up what the Republican party has become. They are selfish, uncaring A-Holes.

And just to be fair, there are plenty of A-Holes that are Democrat as well, they are just Repubs in democrat clothing.

"People that refuse to recognize that we have a duty as a society to take care of those who can't do it themselves are indeed A-holes."

WE may have a duty to help the helpless. We do not have a duty to provide for the useless.

"People that refuse to realize that our brand of capitalism expolits a majority of our citizens and pushes them into need are indeed A-Holes."

What is our brand of capitalism? Everywhere in the world, if the employer doesn't make money from the employees labor, the employee doesn't keep a job long. How the hell does that push anyone into need? If you are cursing the "rich employer" because he makes more money than you do.You don't deserve the job. Think about what he has invested to reach that point. If you want to make that kind of money, start your own business.
"Those who will invent and spread lies and propaganda in order to keep their grip over society are indeed A-Holes."

Sounds like the Democrat party to me.

Once again the continued polarization of the country is highlighted in some of the reactions here. No person, hard right, left or otherwise should relish the idea that a political appointee would publicly speak this way about the citizens of this country or any other.

He's not talking about republicans, he's talking about any American Citizen who's opinions and ideals do not align with the present administration and its' agenda.

We get pretty hot here on ATS sometimes and the opinions get pretty pointed and sometimes hostile but we all abide by a set of basic rules so that we can have this discourse. Rules like this apply even more so for public figures in civilized society.

We've got some of the most polarized and extreme thinking folks in the world on this site but we (with a few occasional exceptions) still treat each other with respect within the rules. This man is a public figure who knows better and is supposed to represent the people.

Despite how we might feel about his opinion, none of us here should agree with this behavior. These people work for the citizens. "We the people," should NEVER be under attack by the politicians that work for us.

This is a bad sign.

Kind of funny how You say that because I would venture to say You do nothing to help out Your common man. What do You do seriously ask if I need fries with that order? Some of us are fed up with this progressive tax scheme that punishes people for working harder. Here is a good idea how bout You pay for the freebies You are asking for and I don't mean a percentage of Your income. I wouldn't have a problem if it was offered to all working individuals and it costs the same for everyone but We know its not going to go like that....

How bout the middle class family that is working hard with very little disposable income? What if they loose their houses because taxes go up 6k a year? You ever think about those people? I seriously doubt that You have and I would go so far as to say that You are the real asshole because You fail to realize that other people are having it hard also..

So please keep drinking Your kool-aid because people like You will spark a civil war when the middle class stands up and says enough is enough.

The aforementioned incident took place before Mr. Jones's appointment to the govt position. (Unlike then VP Cheney's unfortunate remark heard in the halls of Congress, when he told a Dem Senator to, well,....go "**** yourself".) We all forgave then candidate Bush, and Cheney again (he must be a bad influence), when Bush called a journalist via an open mic, a "major league asshole", and Cheney chimed in, "big time".

Actually, from Fox News, Mr. Jones was paying the Republicans a compliment, referring to how they got things done while in power.

But Jones said that, even though Obama is "not an asshole," others have to step up the fight.

"Now, I will say this. I can be an asshole, and some of us who are not Barack Hussein Obama are going to have to start getting a little bit uppity," he said.

FN

Mr. Jones's organization, Green For All, is one of many that this country could use.

Question, how many polluting industrial plants are located in wealthy neighborhoods versus how many in poorer areas? Regardless of skin color. Last time a chemical explosion took place, for ex, I didn't see neighbors driving away in Mercedes.

Unfortunately, in this day and age, it's time to call out the asshole re-enforcements. It's a battle out there, with the hearts and minds (and pocketbooks) of every American (well, primarily those who make under a quarter million) at stake. Average Americans have been badly treated by corporations and their political minions. Time to fight back! Go Assholes!

I caught a video of him today talking hip hopish and cursing trying to make some point.

Rather intelligent really. How these ivy leage blacks can "switch it on" for the lesser blacks. Just seeing his ghetto swagger at the podium in this clip makes you wonder what is going through his employers minds.

Here's the thing. It is the liberals in the Democratic party that are the most upset with big O! Just this morning I was reading that the left wing of the party is starting to pull support. I think we are heading for some really scary stuff here.

No, its BOTH liberals and moderates in the Democratic party who are pi$$ed at him at this point.

Its truly amazing what is happening, to be honest. This longstanding, deep division between those two groups in the Democratic party is one that the GOP has attempted to exploit for years with little to no success. How ironic is it that the savior of the Democratic party may be the one who destroys it?

You're right, though. It is unsettling, even for a conservative. I think there's a chance the Democratic party may collapse entirely, to be replaced with...? We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

You seem confused. I am arguing for the middle class here not against it. I am only against those in the middle class who rally against every effort to make things equitable for them. And against the filthy rich who spoon feed them their propaganda. It makes no sense whatsoever.

It makes plenty of sense. Much of the middle class does not buy into class warfare. They want the economic system to be fair, but they absolutely do not want a handout that comes from someone else's pocket. In that sense, they still see this as a land of opportunity, where, with hard work and a little luck, they can achieve much of the success that the wealthy enjoy. For that reason, they do not begrudge the wealthy for being so.

Correction of your definition of what an A-hole is... some of us believe it's the responsibility of the families and friends to care for those who need care...not the job of the nanny state.

I would agree that this a great ideal. Unfortunately it doesn't work out in a our profit controlled world. If it did, people wouldn't go bankrupt for medical care. or be homeless, or unemployed, or go hungry, or freeze to death in the winter. Most people don't have families or friends that can pay a couple of hundred thousand for medical procedures. The system is ass backwards and anyone who can't see that, well then they are open to be called all sorts of names, because they deserve it.

In this case the A-Hole is the one who has no love in his heart.

You want it be fair, I do also- It is obviously not fair. This use to be the the land of opportunity where all could be successful with hard work. In the last few decades working hard hasn't guaranteed anything unless of course you work for a union or the goverment. The people at the top of the chain have multiplied their annual incomes many times while the folks that do all the work have fallen well behind the cost of living. Until the employees are paid well enough to have a decent standard of living, acces to affordable healthcare, a dignified level of income in retirement, then the people who run the businesses should see no profit. If theyare then they are sabotaging society and the lower and middle classes, and they need to be stopped. If you can only make it by exploiting the labor of others than you shouldn't be making it.

You really are comparing apples to oranges with this quote:

One took place behind the scenes with an open mic., Jobs classless act took place in during a lecture with an open forum and he prides himself on repeating the foul language no less than three times.

Regardless of your party affiliation, when you start name calling, you just look trashy! When you resort to vulgarity, you ARE trashy!!

Is anyone surprised that this was the man Obama chose?.........

No?

Me neither!!
